James Henthorn

Beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family Thursday, January 10, 2013 at his home. Age 79 years. Son of the late Barney Hutchinson and Katy Estell (Bivins) Henthorn, James was born November 7, 1933 in Idabel, OK. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Philippine Sea. James married Carol, the love of his life for 52 years, on December 17, 1960 in Bartonville, IL. She survives him. Above all else, he deeply loved his family and committed his entire life to spending time with them. Surviving besides his wife, Carol; are his four children, Cynthia Lee Henthorn and her husband, Philip De Carlo of Keansburg, NJ; Dennis James Henthorn of Saginaw; Thomas Charles (Amy) Henthorn of Flint; Andrew Wayne (Michele) Henthorn of Saginaw; three grandchildren, Shelby Henthorn Sawyer, James Lee Henthorn and Erin Marie Henthorn; and one great-grandchild, Madison Mckay; a brother, Don (Ginger) Henthorn of Simi Valley, CA; and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his siblings, Lois Peterson, Martha Dudley, and Robert Henthorn. Funeral Service will take place 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at The Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 4640 North Michigan, Saginaw. Pastor Phillip M. DeVries will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service.
