JURGENS, THOMAS J. Grand Rapids Thomas Jurgens, 69, of Grand Rapids, died November 3, 2013. Thomas (Tom) is the beloved husband of Dianne (McKenzie) Jurgens, married 47 years. Tom is the loving father of Tamra (Matthew) Strong and Thomas Jurgens Jr.; proud Grandfather of Leah Strong, Ean Jurgens, Lauren Strong and Nate Jurgens. Tom is also survived by his brother, Dr. Gerald (Karen) Jurgens and many loving extended family and friends. Tom is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals while he served in the United States Marine Corps. Tom was a long standing member of the Elks Club, 48 years, The American Legion, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Tom enjoyed his precious time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, and motorcycling with his friends and family. His success in business manufacturing can be directly attributed to his work ethic, his natural abilities and character. The Jurgens family will receive guests from 10 AM until the memorial service. The memorial service with military honors will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 9th, in the main chapel of the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations will support the Pancreatic and Biliary Research Fund in memory of Thomas James Jurgens.
