May the God of tender mercy (Psalms 83: 18) grant the family peace and comfort during this time of sorrow (2Cor. 1: 2, 3).

Frank, Allison, Lindsay, I like to recall the pleasant associations with your lovely mother through the early days of the Birmingham Bar Auxiliary, enjoying her hospitality in her home and friendships with Betsy and Eason Balch, along with my husband Harold's legal association with Frank. The world needs more people like Charlotte and Frand Lankford. Your lives are promoting their wonderful legacy.

Charlotte was a big influence on me, especially in my teens and twenties when she was like a second mother to me. A true lady, refined, confident, able to communicate with anyone on their own level, and a delight to converse with on a rainy day over a hot cup of tea. She was the perfect counterpart of Frank, the gruff, opinionated man with the soft inner soul. (My other father.) I count myself very fortunate to have known them so well. Frank, Allison and Lindsay, you have my love and shared memories of our great times together. I will miss your parents, too.

I am so sorry to hear the news. "Miss" Charlotte (as we always called her) was such an influence in my life and all the "girls" (as she affectionately referred to the Monaghan girls). She was a gentile, poised lady whom I admired for her grace in difficult times. She will be missed, but the memories will remain. Frank, Allison and Lindsay. I am thinking of you all. Cackie Joyner
