Mable H. Fullerton

Mable Harrison Fullerton, age 89, died at a local health care facility in Rome, Georgia Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, after a protracted illness. Mrs. Fullerton was born in Killen, Alabama May 25, 1925. She was the fifth child of as well as preceded in death by her parents Oliver Cleveland Harrison and Mattie Jane Castleberry Harrison. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Fullerton, and her son, Reg Fullerton, sisters, Violet Cole, Stella McMurtrey, Nina Ratchford, and Fay Johns, and brothers, Milner, Jim, and Ralph Harrison.

Mrs. Fullerton was employed as a stores record clerk by TVA. After many years of employment she became active in the TVA retirees association for whom she and her husband performed volunteer work in state and federal parks throughout the nation. She especially supported her church, Harrison's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and organist the latter of which spanned over 50 years. She lived most of her life in Florence, Alabama prior to her move to Georgia. She was a member of a garden club and the Florence Music Club. She enjoyed traveling across the United States, Canada, and Europe. She was witty and quick to find humor in almost any situation. Late in life, she thought every day was Sunday and rejoiced in that behalf.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Robert Davis, of Rome; one stepgranddaughter, Tess Davis, of New Orleans; and one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Frank Penn, of Florence, Alabama; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service is planned in the spring of this year at the Reg Fullerton Park on Brush Creek located in Killen, Alabama. An announcement as to the time and date will be placed in the Florence newspaper at a later date for anyone who wishes to attend.

Daniel's Funeral Home of Rome, Georgia has charge of the arrangements.

Regina, I would like to extend my sympathy to you and family in the passing of your mother. I remember her and your dad from childhood and think of them often. I know it has been a long road for you and my prayers are with you at this time. It is always hard to lose a mother and dad. Please keep in touch.

So sorry to hear, I remember how Mrs. Fullerton used to always bring brownies for Greg and his friends when she and Mr. Fullerton came to Bama games. Those were the world's best brownies, and I loved Mr and Mrs. Fullerton, they were so sweet to me and to all of Greg's friends. My prayers to your family.

So sorry. Mabel and Cloyd were just the best neighbors anyone could ever have. She loved her Shoals Creek home.
