CANNON (BESSEY), Betty L. Of Flint, formerly of Tawas, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Tawas United Methodist Church 20 East M55 Tawas, MI, Reverend Dan Gonder officiating. Burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Tawas, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Cannon will be at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. Betty was born in Alabaster, Michigan on May 4, 1931 to Walter and Sadie (Johnson) Bessey. She was united in marriage to Vernon Cannon on May 8, 1954, he preceded her in death in 1983. She retired from AC Spark Plug after 30 years. She is survived by her daughters Debra McBride and Linda (Roy) Perini, granddaughters Ami Rooney, Robyn McBride and Rachel McBride, great-granddaughter Sidney, great-grandsons Collin, Brendan and Julian. Also survived by sister Charlotte Bessey and brother Jim (Elaine) Bessey, sisters-in-law Margaret Bessey and Phyllis Bessey, niece, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, brother-in-law Aaron (Arlene) Cannon and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara Stephenson and brothers Harold (Snuffy), Clarence and Jack Bessey. The family would like to thank McLaren Hospital, ICU doctors and staff.
