Mattie R. "Mackie" Williams

1942 - 2016

Mattie (Mackie) R. Williams of Marietta, Georgia passed away on October 10, 2016, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Mackie was born in Marianna on January 21, 1942. She married her husband of 55 years, on December 26, 1960 at Southside Baptist Church in Marianna. She attended Marianna High School and then Chipola Jr. College. She retired in 2007, but worked for 27 years as an Office Manager for an Orthodontic Office. Previously she worked in the Cosmetic Industry and received local and national awards of Excellence for top sales and customer service. In her earlier years, she was a member of Kingwood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Training Union and also served as a Youth Director with her husband. She loved playing the piano, golfing, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with her family. She had a particular affection for children, they were so dear to her. To meet her was to like her but to know her was to love her.

List of those surviving her: Her husband, Henry (Hank) C. Williams, Jr. of 55 years, two daughters …Teresa A. Croft of Marianna and Karen W. Minnick of Atlanta, Georgia. Three Grandchildren Christopher W. Mears of Marianna, John W. Mears of Houston, Texas and Lauren E. Minnick of Atlanta, Georgia and one Great Grandchild Josh Mears of Ft. Walton Beach. Also survived by her mother, Nettie Ruth Richbourg of Marianna and her sister Carolyn R. Crumpler of Marianna.

Funeral Services were Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Pastor John Rollyson officiating. Interment followed in Cypress Cemetery at Cypress Baptist Church with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family is using Faye's Flower Shoppe in Marianna.
