After I graduated (also from Duke University PA program, where I had heard "legends" about him from the teaching staff who remembered Ed tooling around Durham on his BMW motorcycle). in 1980, I was initially stationed at the USCG Base at Governor's Island, NY where I met Ed. He was the senior PA at that facility. He was an incredibly warm and outgoing individual. I remember him as an amazing guy, and quite astute as a clinician. He was also an accomplished raconteur, with an arsenal of incredibly funny stories. I was very encouraging to me as a new physician assistant, and allowed me to "scrub in" to assist and learn when he did minor surgical procedures. I last crossed paths with him in the national PA conference in San Francisco in the late 1990's, and we had the opportunity to chat about "old" times. I will certainly remember him fondly for the rest of my life.

I worked with Ed in PA education and on site visits for the ARC-PA. He was a dedicated educator and will be missed.
