Nancy Lee Robinson

1922 - 2018

Nancy Lee Greer Robinson, born May 1, 1922 in Sylacauga Alabama died peacefully at the age of 95 on February 10,2018 in Birmingham Alabama. Her service will be at 11 AM on February 14, 2018 at Ridout's Valley Chapel 1800 Oxmoor Road Birmingham AL 35209, with visitation an hour before. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 at Evergreen Cemetery 1501 Talladega Hwy, Sylacauga AL She was preceded in death by her parents, Roe Preston Greer and Lynda Stewart Greer, her sisters Lynda Greer Carpenter Schneppershoff and Virginia Greer Pitts, and her former husband Evan Wilbert Robinson. She is survived by her son, Preston Robinson, her daughter Carol (Bill) Dykes, her step grandchildren Christy (Kevin) Davis, Chris (Melissa) Dykes and Aaron (Ashley) Dykes and four step great grandchildren and several nephews and cousins. A special thank you to her caregiver Rose Griffin. Nancy grew up in Sylacauga and after graduation from high school enrolled in Huntingdon College in Montgomery. After graduation, she married during the middle years of WWII. She lived in various northern cities during the war and returned to Birmingham after the war. She taught at Crestline and Fairfield elementary schools, Woodlawn High School, Mt. Brook Jr High and was one of the first faculty members at Mr. Brook High School. After her retirement, she travelled. She also continued her interest in genealogy when she was named the editor of the Alabama Genealogy Magazine. She was also a co author with her sister on several family history books. She loved working in her yard before and after her retirement. Pallbearers will be Jim Pitts, Dan Pitts, Roe Pitts, Gary Greer and Jep Greer.
