As an EMT, he dedicated his life to helping others
Scott K. Geiger passed away on April 13, 2020 due to complications from the COVID-19 virus. He was 47 years old. Scott passed away after receiving outstanding care from the staff at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J.
Scott was a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for 30 years. Scott received his EMT Certification when he was only 17 years old and it has been his life's work ever since.
Scott was an EMT with Atlantic Mobile Health for the past 17 years where he was one of their first and one of their longest standing team members. He worked in several Atlantic Mobile Health divisions including BLS Transport, Communications, Specialty Care Transport, and more recently 911 at EMS 8 in Mountainside and EMS 10 in Warren/Watchung. Scott served honorably in all of these areas, offering comfort and compassion to thousands of patients. Scott previously worked and volunteered at the Ironbound Ambulance Squad (Newark) and the Nutley Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
When not working as an EMT, Scott enjoyed playing billiards, spending time with his friends and goddaughter, visiting the Jersey Shore and rooting for the New York Jets.
Scott grew up in Nutley N.J., where he lived until 2005, and resided in Union for the last ten years. Scott graduated from Nutley High School in 1991 and attended Bergen Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Scott is survived by his mother Joyce, father Sandy, brother Benjamin, his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew and his goddaughter Lauren.
Scott will be laid to rest at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, N.J. Due to the gathering restrictions currently in place, a memorial service will be held later in the year.
Scott will be receiving a Line of Duty Death Honor Guard ceremony. Details of the memorial service will be announced once available. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trauma and Resiliency Resources (TRR), an organization focused on trauma resolution for First Responders and Veterans.
