Marcella Jeanne (Rutherford) Helgeson, 96, of Xenia, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at Willowbrook Christian Village, Delaware, Ohio.
She was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Belle Point, Delaware County, the daughter of Goldie and Elbridge Rutherford.
She is survived by three sons, David (Sandy) Helgeson of Indian Lake, Steven Helgeson of Olympia, Washington, and Christopher (Jeanne) Helgeson of Norwalk; 10 grandchildren, Marcella Tyree, Emily Swift, Andrew Helgeson, Katherine Cramer, Shelly Helgeson Wise, Heather Nadolny, Heidi Hovestaedt, Christopher Helgeson Jr., Ashley Helgeson, and Robert Helgeson; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. Helgeson (age 94); and youngest son, Jerry (Bobbi Ann) Helgeson of Lancaster, South Carolina.
Marcella was a long-time resident of Xenia, having lived in the same home from 1955-2017. Her passions included raising four active sons, playing bridge, ballroom dancing, and socializing with friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
Marcella's celebration of life will take place with family and friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 685 Delaware Ave., Marion, Ohio, 43302, or WillowBrook Christian Village, 100 WillowBrook Way, Delaware, Ohio, 43015.
