Paxton - Richard Scott, 82, formerly of Mahomet, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2025, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells.
He was born on Jan. 20, 1944, in Champaign, to Eldon and Dora Burdette Scott. He graduated from Rantoul High School and then continued his education as a draftsman.
He worked for Daily & Associates Engineering for many years and was instrumental in constructing the wastewater system for the city of Champaign.
Richard was an avid Illini fan and also enjoyed NASCAR and auto racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Scott; a sister, Jacqueline Scott; two nephews; and one niece.
He is survived by a niece, Cindy Austin; a nephew's wife, Penny Boyce; and nine grandnieces and -nephews.
Richard's love and kindness to his family, as well as his friendship and sense of humor, will be indelibly remembered.
According to his wishes, there will be no services.
Arrangements were handled by Heath & Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm St., Champaign.
