I remember Debbie fondly from our years at Eastern Airlines. We were not close friends, but we always enjoyed flying together when the opportunity presented itself. She was a very unique woman and I was not surprised to hear that she took leftover food from the airplane to feed the homeless. Always kind, always thinking of others, that was Debbie.

I prayed for Debra today ,on her bench in North Wildwood, and all my other fellow flight attendants as well as every life lost and broken on that day. May they all find peace in the love of friends, family and the arms of God. God bless us all and my deep condolences to Debra’s friends and family.

On this day in 2020 I am, as I do every year, remembering Debbie . . . she was a darling friend to me, a fellow flight attendant with Eastern Air Lines at the time, with whom I had a spiritual adventure in Hawaii and CA. I met Debbie when we were both working a flight and on the basis of one meeting decided to go together to Maui to study whales at a seminar with Dr. John Lilly, the famous dolphin communicator. It was an amazing time for us made much more so when after the seminar while traveling around Maui we met Elena DeJoya a spiritual master, whose ashram in Berkeley we later visited together for a life changing experience. Deb and I had not been in touch for a few years and it was at least two years after 9/11 before I learned that she was on United 93. She was and is indeed a spirit of light, love and utter joyfulness. I love you Deb. And there's no doubt in my mind that you continue to watch over us all. Right back at you. E. J.

I may not know Deborah however I am so sorry for the loss of this incredible woman. She sounds like a very caring person which we need more of in this world. I love that when traveling she likes learning about the exotic cultures as that always helps one to understand others. She seems to have had a wonderful life and I'm so sorry to those that now aren't graced with her in their lives. If only we could all be as compassionate as she was.

I didn't personally know Deborah, but I have read plenty about her. I cannot even pretend like I know what her husband and loved ones are going through because I don't. All I can say is how sorry I am that this had to happen. Deborah seemed like such a sweet, kindhearted women. How many people would take the leftover airline meals just to feed the homeless? Debora did. She should not have been on flight 93, she was kind and swapped shifts with one of her coworkers. May God bless Debora's friends and family.

I would like to say that the fact that she would take the meals to the homeless men and women by her doing that shows that she was a person of true reverance and she was an amazing person and the worst part about it is that she is no longer with us i was never there for 9/11 im only 17 but mrs.Welsh put a imppression on me and i just really needed to express my feeling in this subject.

Every year, I remember our fun times at Kiwi. How well you worked with others and how unselfeshily, you always took care of the homeless with meals along the way. I wonder whatever happened to the beautiful dalmatian.. You are always on my mind - I am now at United/Continental .. I sometimes think I see you .. I know you are near, you always looked out for the crew.

As classmates, I remember Debbie as someone who liked to have fun. Her ability to play music by ear amazed me. In our second year in high school, we tried out for the Talent Show. The nun's loved us and our "Mustang Sally" so much that we were the Encore. We played three songs in all but I can't remember the other two. I always cherished that moment. I never forgot her great smile and what a fantastic bass and piano player she was. We were fifteen years old full of life, laughter and great hopes.

I so vividly remember Debbie. Gosh, 10 years have gone by and I still get goosebumps. Debbie and I flew together at KIWI. She was a great Senior and a great gal - classy, helpful, cheerful and always full of energy. I still recall our very first flight together to Palm Beach and the way we managed to serve, clean up and still be cheerful even with terbulence. Debbie, dear, you would be proud of me.. I returned back to flying with a new attitude, a new way of living life and a new thought .. to live life today for tomorrow. A toast to a classy sassy First Class Purser/Senior -- you brought many many smiles to many of us. We miss you dearly ! You are a truly a hero !

I think of you so often Debbie and our flying days together at Kiwi. I think I worked with you more than anyone. We had so many long days together and we always seemed to solve all of the world problems together. I smile as I read some of the tributes here from people from Indiana who didn't even know you.....you always teased me about being from Indiana and always wondered "what do you people do there?" I can't even begin to tell you how sad I was to hear about you being on flight 93. Jody Dehner called me at 1am to tell me that you were on that flight. I know you were so happy to be at Ual after our many tortured years at Eal and Kiwi. I know you are in heaven and an angel looking down on all of us....I think of you as a guardian angel protecting the airlines. I have your picture on my mantel and think of all the fun times we had. I think of you on that flight and the horror of what you went through. I will never forget you Debbie and hope to see you in heaven one day. Lots of people here on earth miss you..........can't believe it has been 10 yrs.

Deborah,
Your dear Patrick is simply amazing. He's a warrior and always speaks the Truth. He just holds you in the highest regard. He told many stories about you helping out a fellow human being. I know you were such a wonderful person and you are enjoying all the rewards you so richly deserve in Heaven.
If Patrick ever reads this, I just want to tell him to keep doing what he's doing. He has so much support, even from strangers like me. He inspires me to fight for what I believe in and know is right every day. If justice does not come in this lifetime, then it will in the next. Until then, we'll fight the good fight. It is the Very least I could do for every single person who died on September 11th, for their families whose pain is inconceivable, and all those who still suffer due to that day.
I am twenty two years old and I am now fully Awake to life, to reality- and I thank Patrick for my wake up call. He's one of the good ones.
*God bless Deborah, Patrick, and their families and friends.~

Dear Patrick,
I honored Debbie a little earlier this week at the United Flight 93 memorial at the California State Fair. I understand now why veterans' families take rubbings of the Vietnam Wall in Washington. I rubbed my finger over Debbie's name countless times and said several prayers for her, for you and for her family. Debbie is quite simply a personal reminder for me of that surreal and horrific day. One day I will muster up the courage to watch the film. But more importantly this day for me is a reminder of the kindness she showed to me and others at St. Paul the Apostle and finally, a reminder of the joy she brought to all with that upbeat personality and infectious smile. She is a model for everyone of how to live life fully. She is NOT forgotten and remains to this day in my prayers as do you and yours. Blessings,

Dear Mr Welsh
As we near the sixth anniversary of 911 I wish to extend my sympathy to you knowing not the full extent of the pain which you have experienced and continue to feel over the loss of your wife, Debbie. I also pray that this time finds you in the continued comfort of the Lord whose love and peace brings healing to the heart. May His grace and blessing continue to sustain you and may the peace which you felt at St. Paul the Apostle Church be always with you. I too am deeply inspired by the life of Debbie whose love brought happiness to those around her, especially to those in need along the streets of New York recalling how she would pass out unused airline meal tickets to the hungry. Yet Debbie's love was never more visible than on that tragic day when many hearts arose in love including hers. She will always be known by those who knew her and now by me as the "Little Apostle of the Airlines." Inspired by Debbie's life I have a gift which I wish to share with you but have not your mailing address. In trust I ask how best to send along.

Partick, I knew Debbie, I was a Kiwi Flight Attendant- I remember in 1997 when she was accepted at United - we were standing in the Newark airport by Nathan's HotDog Restaurant and she showed me her letter of acceptance for training. I'm the sister on one of the firefighters that was killed at the WTC on that horrible day.
I can not imagine the horror that
you and my brother endored that day. But you are heroes!!!
Today, they are releasing yet another movie about what you went through on that day. I'm not sure whether I'll see it just yet. It's still so difficult for myself and I would assume all of the families to watch the events of that day. But WE WILL NEVER FORGET what you and your crew and passengers did! You were all very courageous and my brother would be very proud of you. He loved what he did as a New York City Firefighter and that is one of my few consolations over loosing him.
Thank you for preventing other loses of life. God Bless you.

I found out over a year after Debbie died. We flew together at Eastern many times during the 70's. When Debbie had a melanoma removed from her foot, I picked her up from the hospital and brought her out to the beach to recuperate. True to form, the story of how she found the malignancy was buried in a story: a waiter dropped a burning swizzle stick on her foot and the doctor found the growth while treating the swizzle stick burn. Debbie was one of the funniest most laid-back people I ever met. She had her own special sense of humor and saw fun in most everything. The world will miss her. Bob Callahan

Ou socail studies teacher, lynn leming, belives that it is important for every one of us to made a difference in the word. So, we decided that the best place to start was right here in our hometown. the 8th grade class planned and put together a prayer service to be held on 9/11/02.
the 1st thing that we wanted to make sure got done was that every person who died was prayed for induvidually. So, we made bracelets for everyone in our parish. each bracelet has 2 colored beads and 8 white beads. The two colored beads stand fo r americe and al quida.this reminds us to pray for our allies and our enimies. The white beads sand for 8 individuall people who died to 9/11. With their bracelet each person recieved a list of people who lost their lives on that tragic day. They prayed for each individuall.
2nd, we needed a visual for people to see just how many people 2,992 really is. So we wrote every name on 30 yards of fabric.
it was a lot of work but i would do it all again just to see the impact that it had on our school and parish community when we unrolled this huge banner down our church aisle.
i just wanted to tell you that even though Deborah is gone, her memory still lives here on earth. And someday ou will see him again in heaven.
if you would like to contact me, my e-mail is [email protected]

Hi, my name is Ashley and at my school, we were each given wristbands to wear for two weeks as a sign of peace and respect for those lost in 9/11. I have Deborah Welsh's name on my band and I wear it everywhere I go so I can be reminded of her and what the band symbolizes. I did not know Mrs. Welsh, but in reading her biography and seeing her picture, I can tell she was an amazing woman who touched many lives. My prayers and sincerest condolences (along with my family's) go out to Deborah Welsh, her family, and friends. I can't imagine what you all went through and I pray that no family must go through this again. Again I express my deepest condolensces. God bless you all.

Precious, beautiful Debbie. Debbie, Dee Dee and I were roomates for 2 years in Queens New York when we all flew with Eastern Airlines in the 70's. I have such fond and joyful memories of all of the times we spent singing while Debbie did her magic on the guitar and piano. And being together again when Dee Dee married. Debbie brought laughter and music to our hearts and I will always feel blessed to have shared a part of our lives together. My love and prayers are with her and her family daily.

Debbie lived on my my block W.48th and 10th Avenue in New York. I would often see her walking her Dalmation. She had a very outgoing personality and always had a smile. We greatly missed the woman in the "Cruella Deville" coat walking her Dalmation this pasted winter.
You are in our hearts always.

Our church will conduct a memorial service on Sunday, Sept. 8. One part of the service will be the reading of names of victims of the 9/11 tragedy. Deborah Welsh's name was drawn at random as one of those who died on United Flight #93. Our prayers are with her family and all families who lost loved ones on that fateful day. May God bless you and keep you.

I'am a Reservation Agent at United Airlines and was working on 9/11. I can not begin to imagine the pain and suffering that Deborah's family must go through each and every day. Deborah sounds like she was a wonderful woman, and we know that she is looking down on us. God Bless her family.
