I was a clerk at the US District Court in Sacramento, Ca. I met Mr. Beaven when he came to our courtroom, at the time I worked for Judge Hollows. Judge Hollows was very fond of Mr. Beavens as was I. I had no idea about this site until today 4/12/25 when I was watching a YouTube video and I thought about how sweet Mr. Beavens was and I searched his name. I know he had a little girl and I just want her and all of his family to know he as a great man and I liked him a lot.

I met Alan Beaven in 1999-2001 (can´t recall exact year) at his request when he found a legal case I had been involved in and he wanted to talk to me about it. He was a very nice, unpretentious person and what I remember above all else from that brief crossing of paths was his love for his three children he expressed to me. That was the common ground we established early in the meeting, once I apologized for being a bit late and informed him it had to do with my son. He was instantly so kind and wanted to know all about my son, then told me about his three wonderful children. What a good father, and they will see him again one day.

To The Family,
It's just not fair when a hard working young man's life is snuffed away for no justified reason. In reading the obituary it was mentioned that Mr. Beaven was planning a year long sabbatical. When he is awaken by the Lord Jesus, Alan Beaven will have the precious opportunity of enjoying a life long sabbatical of love, true peace and security, and living forever in a world where only righteous persons will dwell. I did not know Mr. Alan Beaven, but, I am so sorry for your loss. 9/11 will never be forgotten.
Sincerely,
Mr. Terry of NC

Dear Alan,
In 1977-1978 you were my Constitutional Law Professor at King's College in London. You helped me go through the roughest times of my life : my mother had just died very suddenly (of a stroke) at the age of 48 in November 1977. When I returned to London in February 1978, I thought I would never be able to overcome my grief and resume studing English law. I would sit in your office in tears and you would say : "Cry, Christine! Let the tears flow!". You invited me several times to your home for dinner and if I did not show up at King's College for a day or two you would call or drop by to be sure I was all right. One night I walked through London totally hopeless, sat in a park until I was soaked... but finally decided to go home because I realized that somebody cared - you! - and would worry if I did not show up at King's College next day. When I left London, you came to say good-bye, joking about my "good English"! We were both very moved. In June 2008 I gave a talk at Rutgers on American legal theory : it was dedicated to you. I had found out only a year or so earlier that you were in the 9/11 crash. Be it a coïncidence (or not) : I had just moved from Paris to Santa Barbara owing to my encounter with a Romanian Prince. La vie est belle, mais assurément tu as rendue la mienne encore plus belle. Merci Alan!
Christine, your (French) law student at King's College

I was an attorney representing a defendant in one of Alan's environmental cases. When presented with the facts showing there was no basis for recovery, he dismissed the case instead of doing the usual shakedown for the costs of defending oneself. I remember him for his integrity. I admire him. We talked about sailing and I kidded him about being a kiwi and that NZ was sailing against Prada (Italy) in the Americas Cup. I often wonder if his gentle, peaceful disposition would have permitted him to charge the cockpit. No matter, he left a legacy of positively impacting people while he was alive, such as me. The rest would be frosting. I feel for his family.

Hello.....
I am sitting here and thinking about Alan right now. I did not know Alan or his family but on that fateful day of September 11, 2001 I made a bond with him. There were articles in our paper and I saw his picture and he stood out as someone i would of loved to have known.. he just had a very friendly face and looked like he loved life and people.
It was also my 40th birthday that day ... this all happening on my birthday made a huge impact on me ... I wondered why I was still living and all these people died on that day.
Now every year I celebrate life... Alan has taught me this lesson and I didnt even know him.... but i feel a connection now with him..... every year on my birthday i buy a single red rose and go to my favorite lake and throw the rose in lake and say a special prayer for him and his family......
God Bless You Alan and may God continue to give your family and friends strength ... You changed my life....... Terry........

When I found out that the father,of a girl from my old pre-school, had died, I felt sorry for the whole family. But when I read the stories and poems that her classmates wrote, I felt that she was part of my life, because when a family member dies, and people are trying to make them feel better, that shows that others care about them, and want them to be happy. I hope the family is in high hopes that things will be better soon, even if the pain won't go away.

When I came into work after that fateful day, I saw Alan's name in the Sacramento Bee newspaper. I was in great doubt, I asked myself twice if was the man I met during a meeting at the Department of Real Estate. He was a tall man who came to my office with so much ambition and drive, with his easel and his expertise, he described his experience in England, he went on to describe his commitment to a clean environment in Sacramento. I was so overcome with his energy, courage and commitment. As I looked in my business card file, I found his business card, I called his office, but when they put me on hold, I hung up wondering if I had made a mistake. Later, I summed up the courage to look again. It was Alan, a great tall man with so much to give this world. He passed through our lives so quickly but left me with made a deep impression that life must be cherished, cared for, protected, and lastly, I will always remember his great courage!
One can't help but think he is a guardian angel or patron that will forever protect our freedom!
God Bless you Alan and your lovely family!

It was only a few days ago that I received a call from England from a friend of mine that I hadnt heard from for years. He knew that I had been living for a while in New York and also travelled around the USA on business on numerous flights. He was concerned because he had heard that a man with the last name "Beaven" had been killed on Flight 93 and was worried it was myself.
I did not know Alan Beaven but as I read these messages and his biographies the similarities between our lives are. very haunting.
My last name is Beaven. My wifes name is Kim. I have 2 children aged 8 and 6. I too have adopted the USA as my home for the last 9 years as I am from England.
Its quite possible that somewhere in the bloodline we are related as Beaven is not a common name.
Alan I am very proud of you, and also proud to have the same name as you. You and your family will forever be in our prayers. GOD BLESS NEW ZEALAND AND AMERICA.

Dear family,
This was written just after Sept. 11th 2001. It shows the pride that we have for those on flight 93...Perhaps it will bring some comfort to you to know that the sacrafice of your loved one was not in vain. Their's is the true American spirt. Thank you
Ron Bettendorf
Let’s Roll
In memory of United flight 93
“Are you ready? “Let’s Roll”
Such a little phrase but now rings from sea to shining sea.
“Are you ready?” “Let’s Roll”
The battle cry of United flight 93.
“Are you ready?” “Let’s Roll”
Such little words but they say it all to me. For a thousand books could not better describe the America we now see.
For you may take our lives, our planes, our homes, your virus may take its toll,
but out of the dust and smoke, shall rise freedom and hope, we will be ready. WE WILL ROLL!
For the American sprit shown bright that day, like a flame that never dies.
You can see it in our flags we wave. And in the steel of a fire mans eyes.
You saw the American spirit, on flight 93.
For they even stopped to take a poll.
Do we fight? Affirmative!
“Are you ready?” “Let’s Roll”
Though evil took their lives that day, they stood not idly by.
They took their fate into their hands. And chose where they would die.
For this a mother holds a child. A Father comes home at night.
A building stands, which would be burned, two lovers hold each other tight.
Whether ten or fifty or thousands more, we know not who they be.
But rest assured many live tonight. Because they “Rolled”on United flight 93
For all the passengers and crew, that were aboard that fateful flight.
America now takes up your cause.
We will make injustice right.
For a mighty Nation was awoke that day, now justice is her goal.
Your sacrifice was not in vain. Are you ready America?
Let’s Roll!!
