Jesus Sanchez of East Boston, a customer service representative for United Airlines, was killed in the crash of United Airlines Flight 175 on Sept. 11 in New York. He was 45.
Mr. Sanchez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., before he relocated to Fitchburg.
Known as JR to family, friends and co-workers, he worked at Continental Airlines for 10 years before joining United in 1998.
He was a member of Trinity Church in Lexington and did volunteer work. His hobbies included baking and decorating cakes for weddings and other special family occasions.
Mr. Sanchez documented his travel to exotic places and the time he spent with family and friends in an extensive collection of photographs. He was headed for another excursion with co-workers when the United flight was hijacked.
He leaves his father, Jesus Sanchez Rosado of Puerto Rico; a son, Marc, of East Boston; a daughter, Felicita, of Maryland; five brothers, Julio Sanabria, Daniel Sanabria, Jesus Francisco, Jesus Manuel, and Miguel Angel; five sisters, Rosa Rosado, Mirta Sanabria, Amparo Lagares, Lourdes, and Maria Sanchez; and a granddaughter.
A memorial Mass will be said tomorrow at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's Church in Leominster. A burial of remembrance will be held in Evergreen Cemetery.

You welcomed me into your home when I first met you at Marc's Christening, also had the pleasure of meeting your family and some of your friends. You were a father to my nephew, and, the love, of my sister's life. Your son is growing fast, and we all love him so very much. JR - tomorrow is your birthday, so Marc & I put a Memorial in the Boston Herald in your honor. You would have been 53 years old. Even though it's been almost 8 years, sometimes it still feels like only 6 months! Your pictures are all over the house, & we still "talk" to you all the time - can you hear us ? I only hope I'm raising your son the way you would want him raised ? You'd be so proud of him, how decent, caring & respectful he is. All his teachers love him for that. I did not know you but I think you must have been a very nice man.Today when I was in the cemetery I saw your headstone and stopped to visit for a minute. I am so sorry you were taken from your large loving family. I came home and read online and saw that you liked to decorate cakes. My daughter who is 21 said "That is so sad Mama he must have been a very nice man". I just want to let you know that there are people here on earth who will not forget what happened to you and the the other victims of 911. You are now an angel. God Bless your Family. Jr. it has been five years since that call I received at home. It still feel like yesterday. Your dad misses you deeply and the last five years have taken a toll on him but he is holding on. Emiliano died last week so I am sure he is by your side. Your sisters Mari and lourdes are doing fine, they miss you and your brother Manuel is in Iraq and we are so proud of him and god will be him home. Jesus, I never got to know you beyond, my early youth. I do know that you were a proud father, and a loving family man. You were responsible for the lives of some pretty amazing kids (now women). Especially Lissie she was always talking about you, and she will always hold a special place in my heart. You were always in the back of her mind. My prayers are with you and your family. I have been wearing my Mercy Band bracelet since shortly after the events of 9/11. It bears the name of Jesus Sanchez and until today I did not know much about him beyond what is engraved on the bracelet itself. I am very glad to finally be able to associate a face with the name and to learn more about someone that I will never get a chance to know. If Jesus' family should ever read this I want them to know that every morning when I put on his bracelet, I think of him. Thank you for posting his bio so that I can feel closer to the person behind the name.

Jesus and dear family members
At my school we have bracelets of almost every member of our fellow ameriacans that died the day of Sept. 11. I have a bracelet of red for bravery and his name is inscribed on it. Oh Jesus ... I remember so fondly dancing with you at Zuff's, all those Karaoke nights,Plaza Ghirabaldi, and so many other fun times we shared. Thanks for the Spanish lessons.
