As a young boy in a crowd of adults,I remember being nervous even though it was family. When we were introduced, you were the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen in my 8-10 years of life. More important is that you touched my shoulder and knelt down to talk to me at my level. You made me feel comfortable and this is the memory I choose to keep.
I've read all the comments here and I'm touched by the expressions of love and loss.
I learned today that bin laden was killed. The media talks about how this is justice and closure but I don't get it. I feel only a void. Rest in peace.

My family recieved many inquiries and offers of condolences after the attacks, all the while I was fine. Seeing how this impacted my family when I was perfectly safe has shown me how fragile life is. To the family of MJ, I can only give you my testimony of our living Father in heaven, that we are all His children and that you will one day see MJ again. May your lives be richly blessed and may you find comfort in the atoning sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

When I visited the web site for the Points of Light Org. I found Mary's name listed among the victims of 9-11-01 and read about her volunteer work with senior citizens. I am a graduate student in counseling and will be counseling elders upon completion. Over the course of the next 30 days, myself and a collection of other volunteers will be assisting senior citizens in our community with much needed yard work or heavy house cleaning, this being done in memory of Mary. I did not know Mary, but she and people like her are much needed in our world today; she is and will be sorely missed. My prayers are with her family.

MJ was everything to all of us here at Washington Dulles Airport. She and I became close friends after the sudden loss of her husband, Jim. She had a yellow lab -Addie- that was the love of her life. We shared lots of laughs and I consider myself fortunate to have had her as my friend. She will always have a place in my heart. She was quite a gal!!!

That first hard day back to work it was to you I went to for a smile and comfort. When they told me you were on board I thought my heart would just stop. I worked that trip to LA ...you would have been proud of me MJ. But I miss your shining smile and that laugh that made everything right. I know your family is proud of your life, how could they not be? But boy we still love and think of you.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
