Anna Allison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2001.
From Wine, a Beginning

Love blossomed over crushed grapes.

Blake Allison was a wine appreciation instructor at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education in Massachusetts. His future wife, Anna, was a student. "She took a couple of courses before we went out," said Mr. Allison, a professional wine- taster. "I was slow to get the hint."

Anna S. Allison was on the plane that struck 1 World Trade Center. She was on her way to visit a client in Los Angeles.

Mrs. Allison was an independent, spirited adventurer, who loved to travel, Mr. Allison said. Last year, she started her own company, A2 Software Solutions in Boston, where she and her husband lived.

When they "could swing it," they would travel together, Mr. Allison said. About 18 months ago, they went to France, visiting Paris and Alsace. They also toured Burgundy, where Beaujolais is produced, and Champagne, where the original Champagne is made. "Every day was a new opportunity for her," Mr. Allison said. "Because there were new opportunities, there was always hope of doing something good. That's the way she lived her life."

Profile published in THE NEW YORK TIMES on November 11, 2001.

When Anna Allison and her husband flew together, they held hands on takeoffs and landings, just in case.

But on Tuesday morning, she was supposed to fly alone, from Boston to Los Angeles for a business meeting. So Blake Allison drove his wife from their Stoneham, Mass., home to the airport, waited with her inside the terminal until he had to leave, said "I love you" and left for work.

A coworker told Blake Allison about the first plane crashing into the World Trade Center, the plane that he didn't know carried his wife. He turned on the radio and immediately heard the news of the second plane. He figured the planes must be from New York. He learned quickly they were from Boston.

"I knew immediately," said Blake Allison, who grew up in Lake Bluff.

My name is John Flaherty. I worked with Blake Allison at Cave'Atlantique' in Harvard Sq. during the 70's. I knew Anna ainve sha came into the store frequently. And the 3 of us tasted wine together. Eventually I left to work in a different store and lost contact.

Only recently did I find out Anna perished on the 1st plane to hit Tower 1.

I also worked with Bob McVicker who also may have been at Cave'Atlantique'. Would like to contack him too.

Blake, I was a friend of Anna's during the brief time she worked at Index Systems. She spoke of you with such love and although you and I never met, it was clear to me that you were her joy in life. I helped Anna move out of her Cambridge Apartment into her new Cambridge location. We laughed about the number of things in her tiny space but over a weekend she created a lovely new home. I adored her as she was so unlike me - always happy, frivolous, and found such joy in simple pleasures. I left Cambridge, married and moved to Detroit. We lost touch but when I read about her in the NYT, I was numb.
So on this day of remembrance, please know that I have thought about Anna and have remembered her on this date each year. I was so happy to read that the two of you had married and shared a life of mutual interests and obviously love. With my warmest regards to you and my fond memories of Anna,
Patrice Rafail Merritt

Dear Mr. Allison -

You are always held in heart and prayer, especially each year on 9/11. Though we never met, we were neighbors in Stoneham.
Among other things, I deeply respected your courage, integrity, and incredible witness in opposing the death penalty.

Peace.

Thinking of you and Anna on this eve of 9/11. You and I worked together at Whitehall so many years ago. You in sales and myself in the computer room. I think of you and your loss and I know it still must be painful with all the media always remembering those who are lost to us all. Although we may all move on, we will never forget those who perished on that tragic day!

Take care of yourself, Blake!

Lieber Blake und Familia,
We watched most recent the 2-hour 9/11 show chronicling many survivors who were on the floors directly below in both towers and how harrowing it was for them to escape before the collapses! Many times we paused to reflect on Anna's terrifying ordeal!!
Peggy & I continue to pray for her soul in Heaven and for a better World fraught with Tolerance, Respect and LOVE!!!
So look forward to seeing you and your amore' in tow - special surprise for y'all at Dunny's Post-NSCDS Cocktail Gala party!

Lieber Blake & Family,
We were caught unawares that Anna's Legacy site was still active, but happy that it still is after 11 years. Last year, on the 9/11 10th Anniversary, I contacted Cathy Moon via her Legacy entry re: the comforting words she culled from verses and salient points you gave her and I have used them, in kind, to console family and friends during times of loss! God bless Anna's soul in Heaven - our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Allison Family.

Anna but I called you Ann I remember your earings and your smile every morning that you stop in at the story where I worked (Walgreen) to pick up the newspaper and other items. We would chat and laugh before you went off to work. I was sadden by your departure from this earth. There isn't a day that goes by I don't think of you. Those long dangling earings and your smile.I am glad I found this page to tell that you are missed and thought of often.

Thinking of you often, with happy memories of the year at Friends School in Baltimore where we were year-apart classmates. I wish with all my heart that you weren't part of this memorial. September 11, 2011

Dear Blake,
I am not sure if you will remember me, I am Mike Moon's widow, whom you worked with at Whitehall. When he died suddenly in 2002 of a heart attack you sent me a beautiful card, telling me about Anna and gave me the best advice on how to deal with my grief. I just wanted you to know how very special that card has been to me all these years and how much your words helped me through those sad times. I still have the card and I have shared your wonderful words with so many others in the past years, whom also found comfort in your advice. Today watching channel 5 news they put a picture of all the people on the planes that went into the towers and as soon as I saw Anna's picture I knew that was your beloved wife. So I felt compelled to contact you. I googled your name to see if your return address was the same as I have on the card you sent and found this webpage. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you today. I thank you for the beautiful card that has helped myself and many others since you sat and took the time to share your thoughts and advice in such saddness. I hope and pray that you have been able to start life again, I know that it takes a while, it took me many years but I have begun to live again and have made a happy life once again. I would love to hear from you, to know that you are ok. If you would like, my email address is [email protected]
Sincerely, Cathy Moon

I know we don't know each other but I want you to know I think of "Anna" often. Everytime my 2 little boys and I walk to the playground in downtown Stoneham I see the tree and memorial stone. I think of your family and can't even imagine what you have been through. I always say a little prayer and remember how grateful I am to live life and try my best not to take things for granted. On this 10 year anniverary eve I decided to look up her name and found this site. I now have a face to put to the life I see in the growing tree. Well sending positive thoughts and blessings your way.
