John and Lenny were coming to Los Angeles to meet with me about our system design. I was at my computer at 7:30am getting the last notes ready when my Department manager came in and told me the news. I had to go to the Coffee room watch TV to believe it had really happened. He had told me about Nicole who was 4 and I had a gift ready to him for her.
It was a pair of earrings and I hope she eventually got it when I sent it to her Mom.
John was a very nice person.
All the best Nicole!

The poem that is posted on Mr Sammartino's home page was written by my father, Eugene S. Hunt, in honor of his nephew, Donald Robert Miller, who was killed in the Vietnam War. While driving back from Kentucky after Donnie's funeral in June of 1968, my father was distraught and in prayer asking God why such a young godly man was taken so soon. Dad was a poet and this peom was how God choose to answer his prayer. The Hunt family is very honored that Dad's poem was chosen to forever remain on Mr. Sammartio's page. The Hunt Family.

I pause today to ask God for a special blessing on John's friends and family as I pray for them to be comforted. I know the pain never goes away. I will continue to honor the legacy of all the heroes we lost on this horrible day. With much love from Texas.

Thinking of you today John. Had a good Latte since as you'd concluded after experimenting with household budgeting --"life's too short for bad coffee". Thank you for being a great friend and co-worker. You were the first person I told at work about my first child, and the look of joy and happiness for me is one I'll never forget. I hope all is well with your family.

My grandmother's maiden name was Sammartino. I have been researching our history and came across this Guest Book. We all remember where we were on this tragic day. I was recovering from knee surgery at Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii. Best wishes and prayers to the Sammartino family.

Nicole Sammartino is my best friend in the entire world, and has been for 3 years now. It breaks my heart that Mr. Sammartino couldn't be there to see her make honor roll, or video tape her and her friends having a pillow fight at her 13th birthday party. I feel so sorry for her, but I know that she has been able to live a happy and loving life just the same. Nicole is the smartest and most vivacious girl I have ever met, and I hope life bring her love forever more.

I remember the morning I woke 8 years ago to see the second plane hit the World Trade centre, that sadness. Followed by the sadness of all the events that followed, always ecthed in my memory. This morning I find that maybe a distant relative and his family were/are a victim of that unforgetable day. Maybe this is why I have always felt grief for all those people and their families. My condolences and best wishes for all, especially to John's family in the USA. The connection of our name has touched me further. I was born in Villa D'Agri Potenza, and live in Australia. From a far I my thoughts are with you, the Sammartino family.

I was saddened in 2001 to see John Sammartino's name on the list of the deceased. I never met him, and wondered if he was a distant cousin from the Rhode Island area. May he rest in peace. Sincerely,
Tonya Sammartino

To the Sammartino Family,
My cousin attends St. Puis X in Houston, Texas and the school had some wrist bands made with the names of the people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 and I am proudly wearing John Sammartino name and it will remain there until Sept. 19, 2002 the school wanted us to wear them for ten days and we started wearing them on the 9th of Sept. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. It was a pleasure reading all the nice things about him. May God bless you all.

"Behold the Empty Place"
by Eugene S. Hunt
"I called my God in question
Lord, how can this thing be?
To let the wicked woodsman
Cut down this precious tree
Thou could have took an older tree
That wind and time had worn
Why take this young and perfect one
That never fruit had borne?"
On whispering wings of silent thought
My God then answered me,
"Who told thee that the Woodsman
Had harmed our perfect tree?
I've had this tree transplanted,
Removed it from thy face
Look to where the young tree stood
Behold the empty place.
Yes, I have land more suited
For such a wondrous tree
And one so full of promise
I wanted close to me."

Wrtiting this cuts deep, for a number of reasons. John was Lenny's dear friend, and he admired him so much. He always said that he was the best worker he'd worked with, and he loved him on a personal level as well. I hope they are together in heaven, looking down on those they loved and at peace. All my love to you D and N.

To the Sammartino Family,
I knew John only through stories of several of my friends, and my husband who also worked at Xontech in CA. All thoughts were sincere, and sadness fills our hearts because of your loss. God Bless you and keep you and your family.

I did not know anyone who passed away on September 11, 2001, but I hurt thinking about the pain of all of the people who did have someone pass away on that day. It hurts to think that there are people out there who hate others that they do not even know bad enough to kill them. May God Bless you and your family and friends. God Bless America!

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
