Some of the most influential people in my life are the great teachers I had in life, especially in the elementary years. It is a tragedy when the world loses such a great leader, and the double loss of a precious young boy being with her at the time. I pray today for all of Hilda's family, co-workers, and friends. I know for sure that her legacy is being carried forward by the many lives she touched whether as a teacher, Mother, neighbor or friend. My heart and prayers are with all of you today, in this season of Thanksgiving. I am thankful for Hilda, and yet saddened by her loss. Much love from Texas,

Greatful to have know an Angel like you.
I remember being in your class with Nyeshia and Dionne just having the time of our lives. I couldnt wait to get to your class you made learning so real and fun. I remember after your visit back home in africa. You brought the class back some kind of sweet tree for us to taste. You cut that tree bark like a pro.It was so good! I would have always remembered you, even if 9/11 didnt happen. I would have made my way to Leckie, because I know you would have been still teachering, it your passion. I know you touched ever one of our lives. None of that 6 grade class of 1996 will forget you. You pushed us all to be our best. I love you and miss you Ms. Taylor!!! You will be forever in my heart. I guess you finally got to meet my grandmother that I alway talked. She's a lot like you, Ha? Give her a hug for me. Rest Forever In Peace

My heart goes out to your children and I hope they take comfort in knowing so many people respect you and draw strength from your memory.

On this day 8 year ago we needlessly lost Hilda Taylor when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. With every thought of her I am angered and saddened to know she was tragically taken away from all of us her knew and loved her. She is physically gone but her loving, kind and compassionate spirit still lives on. Thankfully time eases the pain but graciously does not erase the loving memories. Your light has dimed Mrs. Taylor but still shines. I miss you dearly!

Aunty Hilda,
You will forever be in our hearts. The Bible promises, “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart” (Psalm 34:18). One day soon, “He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces” (Isaiah 25:8).
I pray that God continues to comfort and heal all who have lost a loved one with His loving embrace.

Hilda Taylor's life is a blessing to us all. Her life has made imprints on our souls and everyone that knew her will never be the same. My wish is that we all remember her strength, compassion, and love among many other endearing qualities that defined her life. I also hope that each of us can focus on these characteristics in our own lives, in honor of her. So please, be strong for Hilda, smile and remember her with happiness, not grief. Please welcome compassion into your life. Pray for your neighbor and treat all people with a genuine heart, like she did. And most importantly, love unconditionally, for only God knows which day will be our last.

Mrs. Taylor,
It's been a while since I've left a message for you. I am missing you more than I could have ever expected! I'm planning a trip to the DC area. It saddens me to know I won't be able to visit you. I heard this quote and I thought of you: "Who we are crucially depends on what we're willing to stand up for in life. In short, are we willing to walk the walk"? You were such an honest and true friend, teacher and now a hero. I am honored to have known you. You taught me more than I could have asked for.

Mrs. Taylor,
As time passes by I miss you more and more each day. I've been told that death is a part of life and memories a part of living. Your life ended well before it's time. You still had some much to give. Feel peace knowing that your love continues on, what you taught to me will be taught to "mine" and many others. Our family has been blessed in being able to welcome our newest son "Taylor" in late January 2005...because your memory lives on even though you are "gone".

To Hilda,
I guess the reason I'm so drawn to you is because you remind me so much of my mother. She is a teacher also. I know how much time and energy you must have to carry that title. A teacher leaves a gift with the children they encounter and you give them something a lot of their parents can't. For that I am thankful. Your gift will stay with them all of their lives. That is the most precious gift anyone could ever receive. The gift you gave was put in their minds, not in their hands. For someone to share what you have given our children is truly special and so are you. Hilda, you are always on my mind and forever in my heart!

There was no personal connection between us, other than our love of children and the passion to ensure they enjoyed themselves as children, succeeded as young people, and will not think twice to reach back as adults and give has you did.
I will not keep you any longer Mrs. Taylor, for you have a class to teach and children to guide in your new school.

Yet another anniversary of September 11th will soon be upon us. I take this time to reflect. I look at your face and just wonder. If "things" were different and I was to see you in passing what would my impression of you be"? I'm ever so thankful for being able to have known you as much more than someone I saw in mere "passing" ...a mentor, a friend, a teacher is what you were to me. So once again, I'm here to write that when I think of you I just smile....ever so thankful for all that you did for me!

To Hilda,
As time goes by, the pain remains the same. I know you are in a much better place, but it hurts still the same. In closing I would like to thank you for everything you gave. There is no gift stronger than the gift of knowledge. Because you gave that gift to many of your children, the world can be a better place. May God bring strength to those who miss and care about you so much. It gets hard sometimes and you are truly missed by many. I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I am free.
I'm following the path God has laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things too I shall miss.
Be not burdended with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, my students love.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee.
God wanted me now, he set me free.

Mrs. Taylor-
It has been some time since I last wrote. But please know I will remember you...
When the sun rises and when it goes down...I will remember you. From the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter...I will remember you. When I see the blueness of the ski and feel the warmth of the sun...I will remember you. When I hear the rustling of the leaves and see the beauty of autumn...I will remember you. When achievements are made based upon your accomplishments...I will remember you.
It has always been the "little things" that I remember about you. But it has always been these "little things" that make me smile".

May God grant them all the strength they need during their hardest times. I hope they know that you are still with them. I DO!! As long as I'm here on Earth you will always be on my mind, and FOREVER IN MY HEART... I'll meet you at the crossroads of Heaven Hilda. Thank You for everything you've done.

Mrs Taylor-
We have finally reached Thanksgiving 2002. We generally tend to think of beloved family and friends this time of year which caused me to reflect upon you. It has been several years but I can recall you singing the school song in the auditorium of Leckie Elementary School..."give us the best,we'll do the rest" was a portion of this song. This statement is so true of you. As a teacher you gave me the best to help me develop into the woman, mother, and wife I am today. I know your family and friends are missing you and thinking of you daily. Know that your in my thoughts and prayers now and forever.
