Kenny!! I think of you so often. I can still hear you saying Skeets!!! Whats shakin babe? The thought of you fell into my head again tonight and I found myself here on this page. It still hurts so much to think of you and know you have been gone for so many years. Sometimes it seems like yesterday I was in high school and only just beginning to recognize the positive impact and sense of security in the world you were blessing me with. The older I get the more I recognize how important you were to me. It is when I think of you though that I feel the most hopeful that I will be reunited with all the people I have ever loved and lost one day because you never lost faith a day in your life and always instilled great faith in God in all of us kids in the neighborhood who had the privilege to know Meredith, JT, Jeff and Andrew and of course you and Carol. Thank you for all the fun and laughs and guidance and nurturing.. missing and loving you always!!!!

I was a middle school teacher in Dallas Texas when our lives forever changed. I recieved a small newspaper clipping of your husband picture to be a part of a larger memorial we were doing at our school. He has been on my refrigerator ever since and I think about him every anniversary. I wanted to let you know that I'm a small, simple home in Dallas, his memory is being honored. Thank you.

Many years ago, I had the pleasure of being one of the First Class Midshipmen in charge of indoctrinating Ken and his Classmates into the Naval Academy. Though he was from a different academic year company than mine (he was in 10th Company, while I was in 9th), for Plebe Summer, 9th and 10th Company Plebes were combined. He, along with the rest, were always trying their best that summer to become part of the Brigade.
Among the many bits of trivia Plebes were required to learn, was a poem titled, "The Laws of the Navy." Among its many verses, I can still remember one in particular which came back to me hauntingly soon after discovering that Ken was on one of the planes involved.
"On the strength of one link in the cable, dependeth the might of the chain. Who knows when thou mayest be tested, so live that thou bearest the strain."
I have no doubt that, at the time of Ken's ultimate test, he passed magnificently.

Mr. Waldie, I was stationed with your son on the Coast Guard Cutter Campbell, I never really got to know you but I remember you coming to see your son while he was stationed there. He was pretty new to the ship as I recall. I can't honestly say what to this day makes me recall your visit to see him, waiting on the messdeck for him, maybe it's that I had 2 young boys at the time and I could appreciate that father-son bond. Sadly I recall seeing his grief on 9/11 as I came up from the berthing area and looked into Doc's office. I will never forget that image. It has been 10yrs and I keep you, your son and your family in my thoughts and prayers always. God Bless

I am sitting in a social studies class at this moment viewing 9/11 documentaries. I am the director at an alternative school in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Most of the students are under the age of 18. I told them of my friend Ken and that he was one of approximately 3000 innocent people that perished on 9/11/2001. This is my first post since Jan 2002 and I just wanted Carol and her family to know that they are still in our thoughts and prayers.

I can remember the last time I saw and spoke to Kenny. I was sitting in my truck by the field where my younger son was participating in conditioning drills for his ice hockey team. Kenney surprised me as he put his hand on my arm. "Hey man, how's it going", he said in his usual way. We spoke for a while, and then he was off on his morning run. I don't know why I did it, but for some reason, I watched him until he was out of sight. That was two weeks before 911. Today, a teacher asked if I was going to watch the 911 ceremonies with my class during advisory. I turned the tv on for a second, and then shut it off. Some of the students asked what I was doing. I told them I just couldn't watch it.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

TOday is teh 5th anniversary and all I can do is think about Mr. Waldie. Meredith played with my sister on her basketball team and Mr. wladie was always there for me. He was there to play football or throw me the ball from the bleachers. He reffed everyone of my state championship games. I love him so much and miss him terribly. Each basketball game I play, I wear an armband with his intials on it and his initials are written on my shoes. Part of the reason I play so well is because I know he is there guiding. I may have known him when I was young but he will never be forgotten in my heart. Rest in peace adn Bod bless

I first met Ken around 91-92 as I began coaching basketball in my 1st of 8 years coaching the Lakers. After coaching against Ken in some fantastic games and him being the director of MYBA 4th & 5th grade, I had the pleasure of being in the company of a person that made everyone around him feel like a million bucks. I can't seem to put into words my sorrow and sympathy for his family. But please know that anyone who met Ken knew right away as I did that he was a special person. Ken has inspired me to be a great father who is dedicated to his family. And many will miss the ease of conversation with him and his demeanor that could calm a ragging sea.
I wish the entire family well and want them to know that I feel privileged to have know such a wonderful man. Sincerely , Dan Crepeau

As the one year anniversay of the September 11th, tragedy approaches. I thought I would take some time to express my deepest sympathy to the Waldie Family
