I served with Ed in the 90’s when he was SN Earhart. Ed told me he had a dream of being a weatherman on TV. I think of him frequently and remember him as a great guy who was easy going and got along with everyone he talked to. My continued condolences to his family. 20 years have gone by so quickly.

I met him in July, 2001 at a Boy Scout Jamboree, Fort AP hill, VA. We worked together for two weeks helping Boy Scouts achieve their oceanography merit badge. I remember Ed got sun poisoning from being outside too much during those weeks. We did a lot of talking after work in a garage on the Army base. That's where the Navy people gathered to socialize, and drink some beer in the evening.. All the military branches were there representing to the scouts for the 2 weeks, the Navy was the loudest bunch at night. He told me he'd been through a divorce and some of his life's stories. It's ironic because when we had a good beer buzz going on, we starting talking about the after life, and wondering what it must be like while looking out at the stars. He was really a good dude, and I'm happy I got to meet him. We were both in the meteorology field, but I was stationed out of Norfolk, VA. Then, not even 2 months later, I saw his name on the pentagon victim list and I couldn't believe it. He was one of the nicest people I'd ever met while serving in the Navy. I will always remember him.. God bless you Ed and your family.

Many people do not know that I sat with Ed and helped him decide to take the pentagon over Camp David, as his Career Counselor back in Hawaii. I have lived with his loss daily and still remember it vividly. I was on the USS Iwo Jima when I saw the news live and when I heard the pentagon got hit, He was the first person on my mind. I mis you brother and will make sure your legacy lives on. Rest in peace my friend and God bless your family.

Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I had the privelege and honor of sailing with Edward on some of our patrols aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Rush while I was stationed in Hawaii. Edward was a great guy and got along with everyone. I remember him always being in a good mood, with a constant smile on his face. All of the crew aboard the Rush were greatly saddened with the news of 9/11. I recently made a trip to NYC and visited the World Trade Center Memorial Museum. There is a Pentagon memorial there, and when I saw Edward's name on it, that feeling of sadness came back again. Edward, you will never be forgotten...and always remembered as a good friend, a great sailor, and an outstanding person.

I sailed with Ed on a few trips he took with the Coast Guard cutter Rush out of Honolulu, HI. I was fortunate enough to have him wind up in my berthing area and worked with him for a 4 months (between the two tours). The last time I saw Ed was at a concert on the North Shore of Oahu. He was very happy; I can't remember a point that he wasn't in the brief time I knew him. He was a very hard worker; he seemed to think there was always something more he could do. He had a wonderfully positive outlook on life that rubbed off on those around him, especially me.
The Navy is short one fine sailor and we have lost an excellent friend. Ed, you will never be forgotten!

So, far this is the 1st entry for 2005. Ed is missed every day. Not a little, not less but missed. Ed's way of looking and seeing the obvious and always finding humor when humor is in demand and required. I hope our nation is not loosing focus of what we lost. We will continue remember You and who you were and what you stood for,and all the others that were affected. I know your words "it's all good" and "no worries". We will continue the fight in your absence and always remember you. Our love forever Aunt C & Ian

I didn't know Edward Earhart, or his family, but after suddenly losing my fiance' last month on August 11th, my heart goes out to his family and what they are going through. My fiance', Conrad Simeon King, was also an Aerographer in the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Kitty Hawk from 1999-2001. He died, also 26 years old, while trying to save a co-worker from drowning. May God continue to comfort Edward's family the way he has mine. And the memories of these two brave, heroic AG's will ALWAYS live on.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

Edward or "Ed" is/was my baby brother. Ed ALWAYS had a smile, he took time to talk with kids and the elderly, he loved to travel (so he served in the U. S. Navy) and his favorite Sesame Street character was Cookie Monster. Ed was the bestman in our Wedding.
Ed will live in my heart and memories. I will share these with my daughter, Laurel (who never got to meet her uncle) and I pray she will share them with her children and so on.

In my class, we were told to visit this site and pick a person to recognize. I was searching through the lists of the victims, scanning the information about each, trying to find a person to pick for my button. I saw Edward's picture and skimmed through the information that was provided. I discovered they did not know much about him. This saddened me and I instantly chose him as the person to honor. Now I display the button I made in remembrance of him. By reading the guest book entries I see that he is a person I would have liked to know. My condolences to all of his friends and family. If anyone knows anything about him please post it on the site so that others who skim the list as I did can learn something about a person I'm sure we all wish we knew.
