Michael Pascuma Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 16, 2001.
A Passion for Golf
Golf was Michael J. Pascuma Jr.'s consuming passion. He played every Saturday with a group of friends from work, at courses all over Long Island. He watched golf endlessly on television.

Michael, 50, immersed himself in everything, whether it was golf, his family in Massapequa Park or his work as a stockbroker on the American Stock Exchange. Work and family were entwined: he and his 92- year-old father, Michael J. Pascuma Sr., possibly the oldest broker in the United States, had their own firm, M.J.P. Securities, which recently merged with Harvey, Young & Yurman.

"You would think it was a stressful job, but he was never stressed," said his 23-year- old daughter, Melissa Pascuma, whom he called his little princess. He also had two sons, ages 20 and 17. "As soon as he came home, he detached from it and his family was No. 1."

Years go by, but they do not get easier. In many ways, they get harder. More and more life events pass by without you and it's not fair.
I know I have to be thankful for the time we did have, especially compared to the kids who were too young to even remember their Dads, but that doesn't mean this doesn't suck.
Now at 35, I still feel like that little 20yr old who lost his Dad and I don't think that feeling will ever change. It's hard to imagine I'm now only 15 yrs younger than you when you were taken and I can't imagine only having 15 years left. I know you were too young, but as I get older, I realize just how young you really were. I miss you everyday and try to push on making you proud. I love and miss you :-(

When I first started on the AMEX you were such a kind person who always was in a good mood. You were always so kind and understanding to this young clerk. I always loved seeing you on the 1 train heading up to Penn at the end of the day. I felt security knowing you were on my train. I will never forget you Mike. Thank you for making me feel like I was doing a good job when I knew I was messing up. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU AND OUR FRIENDS.

Remembering You!

Michael Pascuma

September 9, 2013

As we approach the 12th Anniversary, watching specials on TV and seeing those buildings fall again and again, I still feel what I felt that day. It seems as if it was just the other day, but at the same time, so long ago. Either way, it hurts just as much and I miss you more and more each day. You don't get over this, you just learn to live each day with the hurt and pain. This will never go away.

I remember Michael from the years (1976-1985) when I was a Data Clerk, and later a Floor Reporter, at the AMEX. He a very considerate, polite, and unassuming individual. I still think of Mike Sr. and the little conversations we would have regarding life in general. Mike Sr. was the same age, almost to the day, as my grandfather, so I gave his comments and suggestions serious consideration. My prayers go out to Mike's family. GBU

Daddy, I can't believe it has been seven years. It has gone so fast, but at the same time it seems like a lifetime ago that you were here. I thought I would feel different seven years later, but I don't. The pain and the sadness doesn't lessen. I miss your smile and laugh. I told Madison that you were so funny and silly and that you love her very much. I know she doesn't understand, but I will do my best to make sure she knows who you were - not just by name, but by your character- your kindenss, genorisity and patience. I am so sorry this happened to you. You were a good, good person and you deserved a longer better life than you got. I love you each day.

September 10, 2008

I miss you so much. No matter how much time goes by, the pain never seems to go away. I don't think it ever will. Nothing is the same without you and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about you. I just wish there was something I could do to change all of this. 7 years have come and gone and seems like every year, more people forget but we don't. We will never because you're not with us.
Love and miss you,

I was sorry to hear we also lost Micheal-I lost my brother-in law

Joe Lostrangio at Tower 1-I was on duty that morning down at the Federal Bldg.- We used to live right around the corner on 102nd st in Richmond Hill- we all grew up together-The Destafanos next door to him-; my sister Theresann heard when the Stock Exchange re-opened- Micheal's father was there and we first heard of it-I remember Mr Pascuma Sr. visiting my uncle Rocky's Gas (across from the Firehouse) station on Saturdays and he used to bring bagels and rolls- we still sit and recall the good times then. God Bless to your Fsmily and our old Friends.

I liked and admired Mike greatly. He was truly one of the nicest guys on the AMEX. I would meet him every morning coming to work and he was always the same - friendly and upbeat. On the Exchange, no matter how busy he was, he would always nod a quick hello. We all grieve his loss. My prayers and deepest sympathies to his beautiful family.

We are very sorry for your loss of Michael. May his life, love, patience live on through his children. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
