It's been twenty years and one day since 9/11 and I'm still remembering YOU, Michael.

I was a life model in 1992 at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and you were a student of illustration.Utopian days, bathed in art and friendship. You introduced me to hazelnut coffee on west 26 th str and hired me for your private group classes. Always so enthusiastic about life, your art was amazing and I expected you to become famous. Your personality was so uniquely funny and your popularity was obvious. We lost contact as we left that college but I always remembered you...and today I'm remembering you again.

Rest in peace, sweet sailor...

small talk with him here and there. I wish I had known him, he and I had something I in common, Art.

Hi Mike, we were stationed together in Washington D.C. where we met in the BEQ at Fort Myer. I can remember going to the diner with you and listening to you talk about your art and the Titanic. You introduced me the movie A Clockwork Orange. I think about you a lot and I wish I could have gotten to know you even more. You are always in my thoughts and I post a tribute every year since 9/11 on my Facebook page. I will never forget you shipmate.

Michael and I both attended the Fashion Institute of Technology together. We spent a year building a massively large Titanic together. He was so amazingly talented; and taught me how to pay very close attention to detail. From countless hours drilling the portholes by hand with tiny files, to "welding" the plastic together with a glue which melted the seems together... to using the finest grit sand paper to smooth out the burrs and bumps... He taught me how to make a model.

We became friends. But I left in 1992 and he in 1994. We lost contact with one anther.... but I never forgot him. My heart broke into pieces when I heard about his death at the Pentagon.

God Bless You Michael

I was stationed on the USS Wasp with Noeth. I've always wondered if he was painting away somewhere in his studio. I came across a drawing he signed for me on the mess decks and decided to look him up. Though it's been so long, I am sadden. I have never forgotten him. He was a wonderful person and a gifted artist. He was very proud of his art and his faith.
I will never forget him.
May Yahweh continued to bless his family and loved ones.

I only met and spoke to Michael in passing while staying at the BEQ in Fort Myers. He seemed like a very cordial and polite young man. I believe I met his Mother when she came to that same BEQ. I plan to speak about the Pentagon attack and Michael at our ceremony this year over here in Djibouti Africa. I hope his family and friends take this as a heartfelt tribute to a talented young man that left this world far too soon. He and all of our American Service Men and Women should never be forgotten.

I had the distinct pleasure of working closely with Mike while assigned to First Division on the USS Russell in Pearl. When I heard of Mike's passing, I was deeply saddened. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Mike will FOREVER remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I was fortunate enough to have Mike draw, and present me with a picture he drew of me while doing firefighting exercises on the Russell. I was flattered to be given such an amazing drawing by an even more amazing artist. I will keep it forever.

I am proud that I was able to work with Mike on a daily basis in every aspect of our Naval service together. Whether it be standing the midwatch, running an un-rep rig, standing boatwatch, chipping paint or doing a boarding on VBSS, Mike always lightened the mood with his jokes and pranks.

Perhaps the most important thing about Mike was his Jewish faith. I am pleased to know that because of his faith, he is no doubt drawing some incredible pictures of what he is enjoying in heaven.

Mike, may God always keep you close my friend. I will miss you and all the good times.

To Mike's family, may you sleep in peace and comfort knowing that Mike is at the right hand of the Almighty Christ Jesus. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you, and God bless Mike Noeth.

ALoha, I served on board USS Russell with Michael. I am proud to say that his legacy will live on through a painting I bought from him while on Russell. I'm not sure if he ever nameed it, however, just in case, I named it "Follow Me In". His God given gift was his ability to catch the intenseness of a Shipboard Fire Fighter combating a fire to the subtile and personal nature of a Lone Sailor at sea. My prayers go out to his family. He touched us all.

Mike and I were in the same division onboard USS WASP (Exec Dept. X-3 Div). We worked side by side on numerous occasions. A few of the great memories that come to mind was all of his artwork that we used to create the ship's calander and how much he made us laugh, especially during the talent shows. I had the honor and privilege to represent our ship during Mike's burial at sea. It's a memory I will never forget and will cherish for the rest of my life. Mike was a great shipmate and an even better friend. My thoughts and prayers go to Mike's family. He'll always be missed and never forgotten.

Petty Officer Noeth had always stood in my mind & heart as a true shipmate, to be emulated by everyone. I still have a post card of his art that he autographed for me, prior to his first gallery showing in New York. He was so proud & I am proud to have known him. Peace be with his family, friends, & shipmates.

I can remember Mike on the USS Wasp. He always had a smile on his face whenever you would meet him in the passageway. He had such a peaceful nature. We had a talent show and of course, Mike was involved. His talent was standup comedy and he had the whole ship laughing because he was hillarious!!! I will never forget Mike. We miss you DM2.

I served with Noeth on the USS Russell, everyone knew him on the ship because he was so unique, his drawings and his personality. I remeber him telling me the craziest stories about him sneaking on to the subways in New York and riding them on the outside on the subway car, I thought that was crazy and even more crazier because if you knew Noeth you would understand. You will be missed Noeth.

I remember Noeth from the USS Russell. I can say that he was a unique individual. It has taken me almost a year and a half to find out that one of my shipmates was lost on 9-11. It hit me like it happened today. I remember looking over his shoulder several times as he was working on sketches and thinking that he had such great talent. He was only a small part of my life for three years and I feel a great loss. I can't imagine how those who were close to him for much longer feel. I know he is missed. Fair winds and following seas Michael.

I was stationed onboard the USS WASP with Mike. He was always very polite and kind. I really didn't get to know him real well, but he always had a kind word for everyone. We miss him dearly and wish God's Blessings on all of his family members. I especially remember him bringing his Grandmother onboard for the "Tiger Cruise" in 2000. She looked so proud of him! God Bless you all!

Father we entrust our brother Michael to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

On 9/11/2002 I participated in the Patriot Ride here in Phoenix. Over 5000 motorcyclists rode in a parade honoring those who lost their lives at the Pentagon and World Trade Center. Since I am an Air Force veteran, I signed to ride in the Pentagon group. We were issued wristbands with the names of the Pentagon victims. Michael Allen Noeth rode with me. I know he would have been pleased to see the support of the citizens of Phoenix as we rode for 45 miles and ended at the State Capitol. The most heartwarming sight was passing a junior high school which had allowed its students to assemble along the parade route. These kids were all waving American flags and cheering us on. I was proud to honor your son and grandson. I carry his name tag in my saddlebags so he will be seeing a lot of the U.S. of A with me. God bless America.

I am Michael's Grandma so it's very important to tell you how tredmendously comforting to know my treasured Grandson is still in your hearts. "Thank you" seems so little to say but it's all I have. As he always was Michael continues vivdly in every second of my life. I'm very busy preparing the outstanding work he left to show to the world-wide public. Personally quite unassuming, Michael had two loves ... his art and the Navy. I'm attempting to get him the public recognition he deserves. Again my very sincere gratitude for your continued caring.

Michael worked for me on the USS WASP, and I will never forget his bubbling personality, nor his love of the Navy. Mike always said he painted Navy themed paintings because he wanted the American people to know that their freedom came from the sweat of the American Sailor.... they know Michael, they know. Fair winds and following seas shipmate, you'll never be forgotten.

Michael will always be with me. I remember him on his first ship as a deck seaman in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I remember the nights we spent talking and going to 'the milkbar'. He was wearing a poets shirt he said was made for him. He had this extraordinary love for art. I was never really much for it however. I remember him working down in the bowels of the ship in his own little room, painting from photos he had taken, such passion. . . I remember our talks in Bahrain at a coffee stand, expressing so politely our views of the the world, and especially our views on religion. I was looking through some old pictures of when I was in the Navy and I found some pictures of our group of friends in Hawaii. We had this idea that we would imitate the band members of the beatles and we had our pictures taken crossing the street in 'abby road' style. I remember the fight that he put up when they told him to remove his yamika ( i hope i spelled that right)while eating on the mess decks. He won. Michael, I miss you, but I can't miss you. I just can't. You see to me, your not gone.

Tanya Villanueva

January 31, 2002

Michael came into the shop that I own with my fiance, Sergio Villanueva, who was a firefighter lost at the World Trade Center.

He had a dynamic personality and I always remember how he would talk about having "sea legs" as he was just coming home from duty. He was very passionate about art, and we would get into conversations about the technique and style of artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec and Maxfield Parrish. He invited us both to see his work at a gallery in the city and I regret that we didn't have the chance to go. I still remember the postcard with a picture of a beautiful blue painting that he did on it.

I was so happy to hear that he was commissioned to do the Admirals' portraits at the Pentagon- he was thrilled and I also remember how proud his mom was of him. I was so saddened to hear that he was one of the victims at the Pentagon, and my heart goes out to his mom and family. Every time I see a beautiful blue sky or blue ocean, I will think of him.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
