Remembering Julian on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

All these years later I pray for the man who was so highly thought of. I have a remembrance bracelet in my sitting room where I have my quiet time every morning and pray for his impact and his family.

I was a contractor with Northrop Grumman and I worked with Julian Cooper at the Navy Command Center in the Pentagon. But for the grace of God I could have been there that day. Julian went above and beyond in his work. He was a hard worker, but he would do anything to help others too. I was up in Maryland at a Fort Detrick computer training session on 9/11. My wife and I knew Julian and his wife because of Northrop Grumman was a great place to work and we both loved it . I regularly saw Julian at work and my wife and I saw them at company recreational activities. I will never forget Julian. We all have friends and if we're lucky we have some friends that are kind and thoughtful. I know Julian is in a better place now. Our prayers are with you Julian, your wife, and daughter.

I didn't know you Julian Cooper, but I feel proud to have been a part of the Northrop Grumman team who built a memorial to your honor at the Northrop Grumman Facility in McLean VA. I think you would be proud of it's statement and please know it will endure as will your memory.

I was a Navy Reserve member in Suiteland, MD in the late 90's and up until a couple of years ago. Julian and I would often drill on the same weekends and I knew him as a kind and hard working first class. After the attacks all of us instantly asked for active duty and got it. The thought that a fellow sailor we knew had gone on kept us going through some tough times. It turned out we knew others but Julian was the one I could instantly put a face on. To the family of Julian Cooper

I cannot believe that it has been 8 years since that horrible day, when Julian and thousands gave their life for the safety of others in this country. I worked with Julian's wife Melinda at the time and I remember when we were told that her husband was one of the victims. I knew Melinda very well. She is one of the sweetest people you could ever know and to know that her life was forever changed by that day brings tears to my eyes. Luckily she has Juliana, who is the spitting image of her dad, to remind her of the Love and life that she shared with Julian.

I have and wear a silver bracelet with Julian's name on it and Pentagon. Somehow it makes him more real to read the guestbook and feel a real person behind the words. I pray that the Lord blesses Julian's family and friends with grace and peace.

Dear Melinda,

I don't know if you remember me, but I graduated high school with you. I thought of you today as I attended a Patriot Day Memorial here in Mantua, NJ. I think of you every year on this day. I pray that you experience God's comfort. With much love, Laurie

On the anniversary of September 11, I pause and remember the beaming face of a Petty Officer who always had the answer to any question delivered with a smile. I was in London on that faithful day, September 11 and knew that day would change my life forever. What I didn’t know at the time was how deeply those events of that day would impact my life. As I attended your funeral at Arlington Cemetery, I vowed to do whatever I could to ensure this would never happen again. Nearly 7 years later, those long hours and even longer days on watch in windowless offices have in some small measure been my repayment of that vow and my honoring of your life. Each September 11 I remember that smiling Petty Officer, who forever left his fingerprints on my life and my work. You’re smile is remembered Julian Cooper and I will never forget you!

Julian,
It has been 7 years since that day. I cherish the friendship that we had and our common bond. Your kind heart was a gift to us all. Thanks for all the guidance you blessed me with as I neared retirement from the Navy. You are not nor will you ever be forgotten.

I was station on the USS Mount Whitney from 85-88. I don't remember Julian but who's to say i didn't sit with him on the mess decks during chow or maybe was on watch with him on the quarter deck. To know i was aboard ship with Julian makes me proud to have served with such a brave man who was killed by cowards on that horrific day. My thoughts and prayers go out to Julian's family and friends. "Fair Winds Following Sea's" Julian!.....Your in Gods hand's

I did not know Julian, but feel drawn to him, as although we are from different countries we share the same name. I am a British citizen aged 49, and by another strange coincidence on the morning of 9-11 I was actually on a flight headed for New York. My daughter is also a naval cadet with the British Navy. Thinking of you and may you rest in peace.

I did not know you or anyone else who passed away on the morning of September 11, 2001 but I am really sorry that so many people where killed out of hate. I can not seem to make myself understand the kind of hate that could do something like this. I will never forget what happened or how it made me feel. May God Bless you and the family and friends that you left behind that now have to find away to go on without you. Rest in his loving peace forever more..........

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I offer my deepest of sympathies and condolences for your loss. Julian worked for me onboard the USS Mount Whitney during'83-'85. I called him, "the man with the plan". Julian had a plan for where he wanted to go in life and it was equipped with all the necessary details to ensure his success. It is very tragic that his life was was cut short, however, God does has a plan for him. My prayers are with you.

I hope this encourages the family of Julian that we are praying for them in their time of grief.

We Remember You

We remember you in your anguish and pain,

knowing that in this life you'll never see your friends or loved ones again.

You'll never see their precious smile or feel the warmth of their embrace,

or hear the laughter in their voice or wipe a tear from their face.

We remember you in the days to come when reality sets in,

that there'll be an empty place in your home and heart where your loved ones should have been.

Yes they should have been there in your life,

to share your joy to share your strife;

To share your laughter to share your tears,

to share your dreams through the years.

We remember you in our thoughts and prayers

And to let you know that somebody cares.

Yes we care that you are lonely and blue,

So we are sending this hug especially for you.

We pray you find peace from the Lord above,

And that He will surround you in His love.

We pray you'll have the strength needed to go on,

To prove to the enemy that they have not won.

And when the hurting comes anew,

Please know in your heart that we remember you.
