I was shocked to learn of your passing my friend. I always thought of you and your family. We were friends in Puerto Rico along with your sisters and parents. We enjoyed our youth. Going to the Fiestas Patronales, Carnavales or just being at your house talking, listening to music or having dinner savoring your mother's great food. May you be happy. Always in my heart until we meet again. Life is eternal. ❤

Although I am now a resident of Texas, I feel a connection to Woodbridge, as my Dad served in the US Army at the Pentagon and I graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1973. I am praying for the friends and family of Diana as I stop to remember that horrible day. Much love to the family.

It has been 13 years and it has been easy but the memories are still very alive. We miss you so much. I just cried reading mom's last entrance in this journal. She is now with you and I imagine that if there is a casino in heaven, you both will be there every day. Please take care of mom, you were everything for her, she was never the same after your death. Here we are all fine. The boys are great men, you will be so proud. Your grandchildren are beautiful and smart. Tio Jose is doing good but as usual making exceptions with sweets. Yoly is in law school, you will be very proud of her. I just bought a house, not easy to be a homeowner. Titi Lilly is good. We have to take care of her since is the last one of the group. I miss you and Love you very much! Bendicion. Te quiero mucho.

Today I pray for you and for your family who is my family. We all love you and rememeber you dearly. With love the Casanova & Nicasio family.

DIANA
AFTER NINE YEARS, SEVEN MONTHS AND TWENTY DAYS JUSTICE HAS BEEN MADE. I DON'T FEEL HAPPY FOR SOMEONE'S DEATH BUT ON MAY 1, 2011 PRESIDENT OBAMA'S SPEECH GAVE ME WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG. THIS DOESN'T END HERE BECAUSE THE PAIN OF YOUR TRAGIC DEPARTURE WILL NEVER GO AWAY BUT I FEEL THAT A CHAPTER OF OUR LIFE IS CLOSED. WHEN I HEARD THE NEWS I CRIED A LOT THAT NIGHT BECAUSE ALL THE MEMORIES CAME BACK AND TODAY THEY ARE STILL WITH ME. TO ALL THOSE OTHER FAMILIES THAT LOST THEIR LOVED ONES ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 MY CONDOLENCES. WE HAVE TO CONTINUE ARE LIFE UNTIL ME MEET AGAIN. FROM ALL OUR LOVING FAMILY "THANK YOU" TO ALL WHO STILL REMEMBER MY SISTER AND TO THOSE WHO ARE CLOSE TO JOSE JAVIER, JUAN CARLOS AND JOSE.
YOUR LOVING SISTER MIRIAM AND ALL THE GANG.

My Tribute to September 11, 2001!!! The catastrophe that put a hold to the world...

Nine years ago on September 11, 2001 nineteen al-Qaeda hijackers took control over four jet airplanes. At 8:46am the first plane was crash in the World Trade Center's North Tower, this was American Airlines Flight 11, followed by United Airlines Flight 175 which hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m. At 9:37am American Airlines Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon. A fourth flight, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 10:03 a.m, after brave passengers on board engaged in a fight with the hijackers, it is stated that there direction was towards the Capitol. Both towers collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The death toll of the attacks was 2,996, including the 19 hijackers.

The damage to the Pentagon was cleared and repaired within a year, and the Pentagon Memorial was built adjacent to the building. The rebuilding process has started on the World Trade Center site. In 2006 a new office tower was completed on the site of 7 World Trade Center. 1 World Trade Center is currently under construction at the site and, at 1,776 ft (541 m) upon completion in 2013, it will become one of the tallest buildings in North America. Three more towers were originally expected to be built between 2007 and 2012 on the site. Ground was broken for the Flight 93 National Memorial on November 8, 2009, and the first phase of construction is expected to be ready for the 10th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2011.

This moment was marked into our lives for ever, this was a tragic end for all those innocent who died not knowing why and what happened. Many jumped off the towers thinking and knowing they did not wanted to die burned by fire nor suffocated by the smoke. Many were brave by searching a way out, climbing the stairs to the roof top, but not find the salvation they searched they could only wait for death. On the Pentagon the flight crash right thru the heliport, taking with it a part of the pentagon's formation. I cannot think or teleport myself to that day, what could be going thru the minds of those trapped, fitting to get out. I was honored to meet and greet one of the nine survivors of the Pentagon attack. Juan A. Cruz-Santiago was burned all over his face and arms. As he told me and my family how he was just on the steps to death, he saw his mother and asked her if what was going on was real he said that she told him that it was, on the moment he got the power and the will to survive and he started to dug out from all over the attack damage burning his arms and hands on the way. He was saved and pulled out by a firefighter, till this day Juan has given thanks to God for his second chance. He has gotten surgeries for his burn marks and today is also grateful for all the help he got from doctors and nurses from Sept. 11 burn unit. Flight 93 was headed towards the US Capitol, this flight was taken over, but in the minds of the passengers they were not giving up without a fight. Few passengers formed and attacked against the hijackers trying to take back control of the plane. They had little success on their part, the flight was grounded but no survivors found. They were brave and sacrificed there own lives on the process to save many others.

I wanted to pay tribute to September 11th because I could see that for some it is starting to stay on the past and yes it was on the past but it affected us all and we should still name those who's lives were taken and not let the families go through the suffering alone. I also write because I lost my aunt on the attack on the Pentagon. I was only eight years old and was very small to understand what happen, but not small to know my aunt, Diana B. Padro, was not coming back to her home to her family, husband and sons. My aunt was one of my favorite relatives and loosing her was a very hard thing to adjust to. She was the first one who took me to Disney, I would love going to her house and play with my cousins and just sit around and enjoy talking english with them and playing video games. She never got to see her two grandsons, Adian and Asher. As you can see if you sort out the letters in Adian you can find the name Diana.  I hated myself for what happen and sometimes blamed myself that only if I knew, I would have called her make her late for her day, but life did not give me the gift to know and it was her destiny to die that day, making history. I pay tribute to my aunt and all those who died on September 11th.

I met and worked with Diana in 1977 at Ft. Hood, TX. I ran into her again many years later at the commissary on Ft. Belvoir. I remember that unique laugh of hers. I was devasted to learn that she was a victim on 9-11. My sympathy goes out to the family. I wear a memorial braclet everyday with her name on it. Diana--you will not be forgotten.

I go to George Mason University and today we had a table in one of the main buildings. On that table were pieces of cardboard with strings attached, some were shaped like pentagons, some like the twin towers and then the last set were circles for the people in pa. On each shape there was a name of a person who lost their life at that location. People all over campus chose a name and wore that name around their neck for the entire day for all to see so that those people were not forgotten. Diana today I proudly wore your name on a pentagon around my neck. God blass you and your family.

To the Friends and Family of Diana:

I just wanted to say that she was remembered in San Diego on September 11th, 2002. Over 3000 people rang the Freedom Bell at Qualcom Stadium. I read her name over the radio during the Jeff & Jer program so that everyone could remember her, and wore a name tag with her name to show her sacrifice will not be forgotten. Thank you for writing your memories of her so now I can know and remember her a little better.

"Some people come into our lives, make footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same." Whoever said this must have known Diana. The time I worked with her at the Pentagon was short, but she made a lasting impression on me. Her happy go lucky spirit and warm laughter always uplifted everyone around her. She called me "Carolina" and I loved it because she made it sound so beautiful. She was a wonderful person and I thank God for the honor and the privilege of knowing her. May God bless you all and give you comfort and strength.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
