To the family of Johnny, It’s been 20 years since this tragedy happened. I feel your pain family and my prayers are with you. I went to Allendale-Fairfax High School with Johnny. Johnny was the c/o of ‘86 and I was the c/o of ‘87. Johnny was one of the kindest and quietest person you could ever meet. He chose the career path to serve and protect our country. We will always honor him and he will never be forgotten. Alumni A-F High School! Coretta Simmons

Dear Mrs. Andrea Doctor,

My name is Kasey Davenport, and I am a senior at Klein High School in Klein, Texas. For a research project, I am creating a tribute to honor someone close to the September 11, 2001 tragic events at The World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. I have chosen to honor Johnnie Doctor Jr. with my tribute.

I am sure that the memory of the event is quite painful, so if you prefer not to participate as a source in my research, please know that I understand completely.

In order to properly honor Johnnie Doctor Jr.'s life, I am looking for any information regarding his interests. I would appreciate any pictures you could share of Johnnie Doctor Jr. Please include, too, any memorable stories about him, details of his job, family, friends, accomplishments, and personality.

If you would like to have more information about the project, feel free to contact my English teacher, Amy Armstrong at [email protected]. Thank you so much for your time.

Sincerely,

Kasey Davenport

I met Nick while we attended Allendale-Fairfax High School in Allendale, SC. As he was two years older, I expected him to be as rebellious as a lot of teenagers were in our small town; however, he was different. Indeed we all acted out in some respects, but I remember Nick as being friendly, smooth and diplomatic. He always seemed to have that perfect Colgate smile! As you know, these are qualities of an adult, a man. Although I did not have the pleasure of communing with Nick as a grown man, we did have two chance meetings while serving in the US Navy as young adults. We were participants in MARG-One 1989. While I am not aware of which ship he sailed, I served upon the USS Guadalcanal (LPH-7). Strolling around NATO in my dress blues, who do I see walking towards me? An alumnus of A-F high instructing me to join NFCU. That was Nick! The second meeting occurred stateside in Norfolk, VA. I was about to enter a club as he was leaving. That was 22 years ago. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, SHIPMATE!!

I rode in the 9-11 foundation ride this year 2011. Johnnie Doctor jr. was the person i rode for. I had the honor to get to pick through the people to ride for and i chose Johnnie as i am a U.S. Navy vet. I wanted to ride for someone who loved the Navy like Johnnie. I just wanted to let you know even though i did not know Johnnie i will never forget him as long as i live. My family sends it prayers to your family. I would like to send you a copy of the pictures an cd that my friends and i took on the ride. you can contact me @ [email protected].

Doc and I served on the USS Aubery Fitch (FFG-34) together. The thing that I most remember about Doc was his easy going attitude and his ability to get along with everyone. Being a young sailor fresh in the Navy he kinda took me under his wing. He left me something that I use in my everyday life. "Be Cool under pressure" and "Never let'em see you sweat". I will never forget you bro....

Johnnie sounds like a great guy. I read all of the entries in the guest book and I was moved to write to the family. He was so young with so much to look forward to but though he was lost early in life he undoubtedly left an imprint on the lives of those who knew him. Remember the good times and when he was happiest. For his parents, my heart bleeds for you, losing your child must be devastating!! Continue to go to our Creator and God of Comfort and he will continue to sustain you, he will keep you in his loving care.

I was looking thru the list of names and pictures of those who tragically lost their lives on 911. When I saw Johnnie's picture and write up, I stopped when I read Jacksonville, Fl. I've spent 25 years here, and my heart goes out to Johnnie's family for their loss. For their loss, is our loss--everyone who calls themselves, American. My deepest heartfelt sympathy.

"Ole Doc"... Doc & I were stationed in Japan together on the USS Independence from 1994-1997. After we ran into one another here in the Pentagon, we would have breakfast once or twice a week and talk about old times & shipmates, & the latest news. I will always remember "Doc". I know he's in Heaven along with the others who lost their lives on September 11th. May GOD be with them & thier families.

To The Family and Friends of Johnnie Doctor -

All I can say is that Johnnie will be remembered by some of us that will "Bear Another's Name Daily" by wearing this "Mercy Band" with pride. As long as I wear this on my wrist my thoughts will go out to his spirit and to those who knew and loved him. Please know that you all will be in my heart.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

To the family of Johnnie Doctor:

My thoughts and feeling of sincere sorrow go to you for your loss. Our country will not forget your family's sacrifice on our behalf. Perhaps it takes something this severe for us as Americans to realize how precious our freedom really is and appreciate that which we have. We also must realize what it will take in the future for us to keep what we have. Our hearts break along side yours.

You will forever be remembered as one of America's Warriors, voluntarily signed on to protect and guard the many freedoms we hold so dear. My son wears a 'Mercy Band' that bears your name, he wears it with honor. You will not be forgotten Johnnie and you and your loved ones will be in our prayers always. May the knowledge that you are now living in our Father's house, bring comfort and peace to your family and friends. God bless America!!!
