A wonderful young man. He was the big brother to all the kids on the block.(111th St. Madison Ave. and Park Ave. Harlem) He protected us, he listened, guided and consoled us. Never forgotten, always in our hearts. RIP. Prayers for his family.

I was watching the memorial ceremony and I heard Mr. Ruiz's name. While I never met him I visited Windows of the World many times and probably our paths crossed at one time. I want to send my condolences to his family. I am also a Ruiz, and it felt like he was a member of my own family when I heard his name. RIP. We will never forget.

Although I didn't know Gilbert, I would like to share some words with the Ruiz Family: I do not know if time has healed some of the wounds from your loss. But I do know that Gilbert Ruiz will never be forgotten. Even after 12 years, our United States Family will continue to honor and memorialize those whose lives were lost in this tragedy. My teacher gave each student in my class a name of someone that lost their life on 9/11/01. I had the honor of receiving your name.. i am a 7th grade student in Mesa, AZ. I received a bracelet with the name of Gilbert Ruiz on it from Catholic Charities of Paterson just yesterday. It has been one year and nine months since the attack and the tears came to my eyes again at the name of a perfect stranger who was lost on that day. My prayers and thoughts will be with his family from now on. God is good. He will be with you always as Gilbert is with Him.
