Seven days after you passed, I joined the Air Force. I didn't know you, but you changed the course of my life and the memory of those like you drives me still. We will never forget. Know this and rest in peace. God Bless.

I used to cut his hair when he was in high school. Nice kid!

I didn't know Chris but I know his mother because she was my audiologist and I always watch the memorial for Chris's name. I will never forget 9/11. Rest in Peace.

I didn't know Chris but I have the same surname, it is a way for me to personalise what happened. I see his picture and read what his close ones have said about him. I went to the memorial last year to pay my respects where his name was. My thoughts are always with him and his family and friends.

Chris is strong on my mind today, and as always, I have our last picture together right by my front door. Every day I remember him fondly; it seems impossible that a decade has passed. Chris, your kindness and humor will be forever in my heart. Much love and care to his family today.

I'm reading this today because at my high school, Pasadena Memorial, I was given a card with a name on it of someone who had passed away 10 years ago on Sunday, September 11th, 2001. As soon as I got home, I googled the name i had gotten: Christopher Paul Slattery.

Chris sat in front of me in Highschool at Chaminade. He was a great guy, always in good spirits. He introduced me to the world of ski trips to upstate NY and VT. He had a good bunch of friends in E. Norwich. I couldn't believe it when I first read his name. I have been thinking of him this year of course, and coming across this photo memorial I had to look him up again. To his family and friends, I'm sure you know he's smiling down on us, telling St. Peter funny stories, and still bringing the steaks! I'll be toasting to you this season Chris. It'll be a premium brew in the snowy woods of VT.

Everytime I look myself up on line, I see your story. It is amazing the similarities- I tailgate every Buccaneer game, not only do I golf, but I am a golf professional, and I try at every moment to be the life of the party! The comments from your friends and family truly show how strong the Slattery name is, and I am proud to be one. I feel fortunate that I am still here, and I will try every day to make your name, and mine, proud.

I remember being in first grade with his brother Danny. His mother was pregnant with Christopher. We were all anxious for the birth of Dannys new sibling. I remember the day his mom brought Christopher in to class for us to see. We all were in awe with the arrival of such a blessing. He then came to my house, clinging to his mother when he was about 4, when Danny came over to see how I was doing after Danny accidentally broke my nose on the playground. When 9-11 happened I had two boys of my own around the same ages of that memory. My heart broke for his mother. She was extremely sweet and did not deserve this fate. I hope Danny is doing well, we lost touch but I remember those years like yesturday. Your in my thoughts and prayers. Your old Birmingham Buddy, Kim Kuhns

Chris,
I never knew you but you and I share a birthday, December 30th. As I watched the memorial services this weekend marking the 3rd anniversary of that horrible day, I saw someone hold your picture and saw your birthdate. Every year that I celebrate my bday, I will also remember you and pray that you are at peace.
God bless you and your family xoxoxo

I still look at Chris daily in a picture we took the summer of 2001. He is still as missed as that first moment the realization of the loss of him hit home.
Regards to Chris' family: rest assured he will always be thought of with love.

I did not know Christopher, but I read his name in San Diego at the Star 100 Radio Station Liberty Bell ring to remember all the people that perished on 9/11. It's kind of funny because I am a skier too and now I can identify with Christopher. God Bless you Christopher!

Members of the University of Pittsburgh community placed 3,041 flags on the lawn of the Cathedral of Learning on 9/11/02, each bearing the name and age of a victim of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, as well as the flight number or location. At the day long closing of the "Flags for Heroes" ceremony each attendee was to randomly select a flag for keeping. I chose Christopher's flag. I will put his flag along with other family treasures away to be handed down to my grandchild. Christopher will be remembered. Because man has a soul he will not die. His soul will go on forever and his spirit will always be a part of my family.

I met and got to know Chris at Fairfield University where we graduated the same year. Although not a close personal friend, we hung out in a mutual group of friends. Chris was always someone I wanted to know better because of his care-free, friendly, sensitive way. He was beautiful inside and out. I was deeply saddened when I learned of his death through a letter from Fairfield University. I cried for the loss of such a special person, I cried for his family, and I cried for a fun-loving person whom I had shared a significant part of my life with. He will live in my thoughts, memory and heart.

I remember Chris as the sweetest guy, always looking out for others. He was funny, charming and so generous. He was always up for a good time. He was a customer at the bar I work in and it was always a pleasure to see him. The last time I saw him he was playing air guitar to a rock song the dj was playing. Other customers were giving him odd looks but he didn't care or notice because he was having so much fun. He got a bunch of us up, dancing and laughing. Chris was singing along and doing his best Chuck Berry guitar moves. It made my night. He was a genuinely good guy. He will be missed.

Remembering Chris is quite easy.
He had a young honest face, a contagious smile, and a never ending enthusiasm for living life to the fullest. Chris's spirit embodied great love and respect for his family, a strong sense of loyalty to his friends, and a caring heart that never ceased to give.
Chris touched my life with only a few encounters and yet the sadness of his death will remain with me for a lifetime. My heartfelt love and condolences go out to his family. May you find comfort and solace in remembering just how special he truely was to everyone that he encountered.
With all sincerity, I can say that Christopher Slattery was a truely remarkable and rememorable young man.

I met Chris through Chris Crotty, whose is a friend and former roommate of my husband Joe Donovan, while I living in NYC.
I did not know Chris that well but used to see him once in a while at Joe and Chris's apartment or Fitzpatrick's on the Upper East side.
I remember when my husband and I had to move a heavy sofabed up three flights of cramped stairs to our new apartment one hot summer day. I could not really help too much, and Chris happened to be visiting the old apartment. Joe asked Chris for help and Chris kindly obliged with a smile. Thank gosh for Chris or that couch would still be stuck in the stairwell! It was so nice of him to help out. He was a kind person.
We are saddened by your loss. Have strength and may memories comfort you.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Chris Slattery worked with Rosanne Lang as brokers for Schwab's Equity Index Funds. Everyone on our team still mourns their loss.
I knew Chris for 2 years and he had been out for business meetings and social events several times. Chris would often send the group S&P index change notification emails as well as general market commentary. While Geri and Rosanne worked the index change deals, Chris and I would often talk to settle up, book the trades and deal with any back office issues.
I personally liked Chris a lot and will always remember him as a kind and gentle guy. Chris never put on airs with me, pretending to be some big shot going a million miles an hour. His down home approach made me feel comfortable around him and he had earned my trust professionally.
I had hoped to get to know Chris better. Chris, Rosanne, and Tim Grazioso stopped by our office for a meeting several weeks before. Chris and I sat next to one another, but it was one of those quick meetings where we didn't really get a chance to talk. Before I knew it we were off to trading for the day and the Cantor folks were presumably off to see another client.
Positive memories are when Chris and Rosanne came out for Schwab's $100 Billion party and a dinner at Aqua on California Street where Chris met my wife and newborn daughter. I can still hear Chris's voice on the phone from our conversations, "Hey, Tom".
Although we are far from NY, the WTC attacks will forever be in my heart - not because it was a tragic event that goes down in the history of our nation, but because I will forever think of my friend Chris Slattery.

PS: I saw Chris's name in a local newspaper as having been identified not long after Sept. 11. But, that's all I've heard. I'd like to invite any family members or friends who would care to share Chris's story to email me. Personally, I think it would help with closure. Thanks.
