Tim-
I had the honor of hearing from Captain Al Fuentes, Retired FDNY, as a Keynote Speaker at a conference in New Orleans today. It was a moving experience to say the least, and of course the grim details of 9/11/2001 made for an emotional response from the attendees. I know you are watching over all of your family and friends, and are comforting all those souls around you. God bless you.

I heard Claire Baldwin passed away. I am saddened as another classmate, St. Doms class of 1983, has passed away. Please take her under your wings and care for her as you have so many others. I miss you my friend. I believe your birthday is in January. Happy Birthday my friend.

January 17, 2015

I remember Timmy at one of the High School dances. I arrived a little late and "Sweet Home Alabama" was playing. I mentioned to my friends that I really liked that song and wished I didn't miss it. Timmy came right over and said, "don't worry - I always convince the band to play Sweet Home Alabama twice - they will play it at the end of the night". After that I always thought of "Sweet Home Alabama" as Timmy's song. I recall him smiling & pumping his fist while singing "turn it up". To this day it is one of my driving songs. :)

Tim, today I posted an article written (I believe) by your cousin as a tribute to you on my Facebook page. I didn't even have Facebook until six years after you were gone. I can't believe that we are turning 50 years old next year and you aren't here to celebrate. I hope that we would have reconnected more since the few phone calls we shared a few years after college, and that I would get a huge kick out of pictures and comments of whatever crazy adventure you would have taken to mark the occasion. I think about you more than just at this time of each year and hope that your family is slowly finding some kind of peace knowing that you are rooting for all of them, along with your friends, to enjoy living even in your absence. God bless. [email protected]

September 8, 2014

Uncle Tim,
Not a day goes past that I don't think of you and how I am the person today because of you. For me the weeks leading up to 9/11 are always the hardest. Its those last good memories and phone calls that make me realize how much I miss you. I wonder everyday what would be different if you were still here, but I know in my heart you are with me everyday. When football season starts up I especially reminisce on the days when we'd play catch in Yaya's driveway, even though you had a million better things to do. Now today people will ask me how I learned how to a football so well, and the first thing that comes to mind are those days in the driveway. Although you were taken from us, you are a piece of me everyday. I cannot be more grateful for the time we did get to spend together. I will always do my best to make you proud, and to live my life the way you lived yours: for others. You will live on forever through you wonderful nature and its indefinite impact on others. I wake up everyday knowing I have to be better, that I can be better, because you've showed us all what better looks like. I love you and miss you so much, but more importantly I thank god everyday that he put you in my life.

Tim,

I love and miss you very much, I think of you often especially during football season. It feels like yesterday you were kidding with me saying " do not be surprised if I have more kids then you". I know you would of cherished the role of husband and father as I do? I learned so much from you about unconditional love, it was amazing how you truly loved all people. I remember how you were a Dad to me when I needed it most, you were my friend, and you are a role model for me. I watch how you took the values that Daddy and Mommy had taught us and you brought them to life. I will miss how you could walk into a room and within a few minutes be best friends with a perfect stranger, I miss the way you would cherish and take care of mommy, I miss the fun times competing against you in any sport or any game, I miss the way you made us laugh when we broken hearted, I miss the way you would call the family meetings to ensure we were all on the same page, I missed the way you would say " bubby nice job" and I would feel so proud, I miss the way you would stop by and visit and buy every type of potato chip because you weren't sure what suzie liked, I miss the way you showed me what commitment and hard work was all about, I miss all the stories you would tell about your experiences, I miss the way you always look to help me and anyone who was in need, I miss all your great wisdom and advice, I miss your presence as the head of the Byrne family after Daddy died, I miss the way you walked with our Lord, most of all I just miss you. I wish my kids could have met you and spent time with you. They would be so excited to see Uncle Tim, now they pray to their angel Uncle Tim. You will never be forgotten, your legacy lives on for my children and future generations. Give Daddy a hug and wish him happy birthday. I love you, and I am so grateful to God he put you into my life.

I had the good fortune of being Tim's friend and housemate in the Hamptons. Tim was a very special human being and so much fun to be around. He really knew how to live life to the fullest while working hard and taking care of his family. If more people on this earth were like Tim the world would be a much better place. We both came to Syracuse in 83' and I had the pleasure of having our locker together, you were #29 and I was #28 and we talk all about your family.. September 11, 2012

Dear Tim,
I want you to know that you were an extraordinary teacher. You were so concerned, caring and loving. You really worked to help others succeed. You tried to teach me to laugh at myself. That was a tough job! You know, you did succeed a little bit. :) You also tried to teach me to be more organized and neat. You were a little less successful there! You just shook your head and said, “You're a dirty bird, just like my brother ___” (name withheld to protect Brian.)
I learned things just watching you. You could get a bunch of people together and help them to open up to each other. You were very aware when someone was feeling self-conscious or awkward and you really helped them to relax and have fun. You never let anyone talk too much. Ha! You worked your magic and got the braggadocios to stop going on too much and let others speak. You were magic! I strive to be more like you. I'm not close but I know I'm much improved because of you.
Sometimes I get sad that your life was cut so short. I get sad for the people who never got to have you in their lives. I am abundantly sad for your beautiful family who loved you and needed you. But I know that you want me to be happy and continue to improve and to help others to improve. So that's what I am trying to do.
Thank you.
