Paul Geier Obituary

In His Footsteps, Flowers

Paul Geier's mother died when he was 22 and his sister Jeanne Kelly was 17.

"Paul took good care of me throughout some really tough times," she wrote in an e-mail message from London.

"I really wasn't in the mood to go to my prom, but he encouraged me, bought me the dress, came home early from work to see me, and gave me spending money because he wanted me to try to be happy! I know it might sound silly since it was so long ago, but how many 22-year-olds do that for their sisters?"

Another sister, Kathy Healy, remembers how her brother's even temper got the family through a boat trip to Manhattan, when their 39-foot trawler ran out of gas and hit rough seas. "The refrigerator and the microwave fell over," she said. "He kept my husband calm."

He used to bicycle from his home in Farmingdale to Massapequa, arriving at her door on weekends.

"Since October, I have a pansy growing right on the doorstep, through the snow and everything," she said. "It stayed there. I always feel like it's a sign."

Mr. Geier, 36, who leaves a wife and two young daughters, was one of two brokers not fired from his 22-person desk at eSpeed the Friday before Sept. 11, Ms. Healy said.

I grew up a couple of doors down from Paul and his family in kings park on jasmine la, which is now been renamed after Paul. I wanted to share a memory of Paul that comes to mind when i see that street sign. Paul is the only guy i ever saw that would ride a unicycle around the neighborhood when i was a kid. Paul was a Great guy !!

My name is Steve Elam. I live in West Liberty Kentucky. On September 11 2013 I participated in the 2 Million Biker to D.C. ride to honor the fallen heroes 9/11/01. I am the Kentucky state coordinator for this event. We (Kentuckians) had three weeks to gather the info and put together a plan for this most Patriotic/Spiritual endeavor. What I really meant to say was the name I wore on my helmet this day was Paul Hamilton Geier. I pray this means something to family as, this is just a beginning of Never Forgetting the fallen heroes Of our great country. This year it is reported 1.2 million riders took part is the great event and growing each and everyday by leaps and bounds. May God bless you and keep you, the family of Paul Hamilton Geier. RIP my Brother.

Paul, To date it is so hard to believe you dont walk through the door at around 6. Your smile to greet the kids made all the difference in the world . Sitting and enjoying our adult time after the children went to bed was priceless . I miss you very much and your kids bring out so much of you . Jessica is a 10th grader now and Nicole has graduated and is starting college and a family of her own . You are going to be a grandpa !!! We all often speak of the good times with you and we know your spirit is with us. Please continue to look over us and keep us safe . We love you and miss you very much ,

When the twin towers fell I called back to NY to see if my family members were all ok. Today listening to the names being read I realized someone with the same last name had died in the tower collapse. I have no idea if we're related, but I don't often see the name spelled this way. It caught my attention and took my breath away! Whether we're actually related or not, my prayers go out to your family Paul, I can't imagine the loss. I pray they have found peace and that you rest in peace.

Paul's brother (Phil) was our neighbor in Medina, Ohio on 9-11-01. I will never forget hearing that he jumped in his car with the clothes on his back and drove to NYC immediately after hearing the news to try and find his brother. I never knew Paul but have thought of his family over the years because of the neighborhood connection. I didn't know Phil very well but I know he was never the same. My Dad was a United Airlines Pilot and flying on 911. The phones were jammed and I couldn't reach him for over 12 hours. I thank God every day his plane wasn't taken over. God Bless. Andrea Svoboda

I think of you and your family often, not only on the 9/11 anniversaries. We had a lot of fun together growing up, riding dirt bikes and getting into trouble. You came to my father's funeral which I will always appreciate. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family always. I will never forget. Joanne Foley

To Paul's children.....I worked with and sat next to Paul for the best part of 4 years in New York from 1992-1996...Your dad was a lovely man and from time to time I think of him and smile about some of the times we had....We went on a business trip to Paris together for a week and found the going tough but we still managed a laugh at certain times during it....He was a sound, solid guy who would always give somebody a chance..He still lives in conversations I have about him as if he were just around the corner....I will be in New York City soon and will think of him at times when I'm there...Remember, to his friends he will never die .....He will always be fondly remembered, thought of and spoken about....And a message to his Dad....You brought up a good boy!!

Paulie Jr. You probably wouldn't remember me as you were just a kid when us Moran's would come & visit. Only God can know why this happened and I pray for you, your beautiful family, and for your Father. I was in Boynton visiting my Father shortly before he died and of course we had to stop by your Dad's house. May God bless you all, and keep you in His graces.

I am a senior at St. Pius X High School in Houston. In memory of 9/11, our school handed out wrist bands with the names of someone who died on 9/11 to the students, parents, faculty, and community. Mine said Paul Hamilton Geier, 36. I can't imagine what it must be like for his daughters to suddenly lose their dad, or his wife to lose her husband, or his sisters to lose such a close brother. We got our bracelets on Monday, Septemeber 9th and today is the 15th. I just couldn't think of what to say to somehow make you feel better, except that I care. Even though I don't know you or you don't know me, I have thought about you and prayed for you. I just wanted to let you know that I am truly sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Paulie, I'm a third cousin on your dad's side and the last time we met you were a young boy. On September 11, 2001, you became an angel in God's heavenly family. May the love and peace you share with our heavenly Father bring blessings of comfort to those who love and miss you.

Dear Uncle Paul,

God Bless You.9/11/01 might have taken you away from us but your spirit still remains with us. I dont remember you to much about you, but i remember that you were a brave man.It wasnt time for you to leave us but god thought you would be safer with him.I always had a dream to see you again.I would cry about that dream not coming true.I will always be thinking of you, especially when i pass the memorial at my school with your name shining so bright. You will always be remembered by Erin Sullivan.I Love You!

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
