Lee Adler Obituary

The Girls in His Family

At work, Lee Adler could write complex computer programs off the top of his head, never needing to write anything down. He took great pleasure in shaving nanoseconds off the time his elegant programs took to run, said his wife, Alice. Mr. Adler, 48, was a systems programmer at ESpeed, a division of Cantor Fitzgerald. He also coached his daughter's basketball, soccer and softball teams and was a trustee of Temple Beth Ahm in Springfield, N.J., Mrs. Adler said.

At home in Springfield, Mr. Adler liked being surrounded by all girls. The family consisted of one daughter, Lauren, a sheltie, Meghan, and two cats, Lindsey and Brenda. Mr. Adler and the pets had birthdays in March, and they celebrated together. He would take the dog to the pet store, and whatever she sniffed first was hers.

Mrs. Adler recalls his most recent birthday fondly. He had given her a pair of earrings for Valentine's Day, and for his (yes, his) birthday, he gave her the pin to match, a bear climbing on a piece of lapis. "He definitely loved all his girls," she said.

I was reading the messages about Lee and I was very touched by all the people who knew Lee and also by all the people who left messages who did not know Lee as I am one of the people who did not know Lee. I did graduate from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School with Lee's brother Aaron though. Alice it has been over twenty years now that Lee is gone but I am sure that you and your daughter will always remember him as well as Jay, Aaron and Randi ( I think that is Lee's sister).

Not long after the attacks in 2001, I bought a bracelet with Lee Adler's name on it - a tribute to those whose lives were lost. Every year I wear the bracelet around this anniversary and think about this person I did not know, whose name I wear. He was at work that day, just like me. My heart goes out to Lee and his family and everyone affected by the tragedy. Really feeling it this anniversary for some reason.

Alice and Lauren, I have thought of you many times over the years. I had a wonderful time with you and Lee at our 30th reunion. I proudly remember passing by the twin towers and Lee coming up to me and saying' hey remember me?!' I did cause Lee was very memorable. He had that bubbly personality and was always smiling. So today I want tolet you know I will always remember Lee he is a hero. I felt like I knew you Alice for a long time. You and Lee both were so comfortable to be around. At the time of Lee's passing I was going through my own troubles but life is good. Please come visit in Sarasota Florida. I remember Lauren and my son are the same age. So they are both going to be 23. My sincere thoughts to you and know you have a brave soul. Much love Daryl (Garner) Dalcero

Although I never met you, I am thinking of you and the so many other innocent lives taken from this world on that fateful day . It is very hard to believe that 10 years ago today ( the day before ) so many lives were different, and our world seemed innocent . What I believe is that you are in a beautiful place where there is only happiness. So, on this 10 year anniversary I know God is holding you close, but I will pray that God holds even closer your family and friends. For it is always those left behind that are suffering the most. Rest in Peace Lee Adler.

Alice and Lauren -- We only met once, at the Class of 71 reunion at Echo Lake Park. From time to time, I speak to Howard (aka Gumby) who updates me with news of you two. While I always hoped that you were well, I knew that I could not understand your pain. That changed just a few weeks ago when my beloved husband died suddenly. My husband had heard Lee Adler stories for many years. I hope the two of them are playing some heavenly full court b-ball where no one ever fouls them and they make every three-pointer.

This is the first time I've looked through this site, and I have to tell you, Mr. Adler's photo just took my breath away, as someone who enjoyed life and living. Like an incredible man--somone who loved and was greatly loved. It is evident in his face and eyes. So very sorry for your loss. Our prayers will now be with you. Nearly five years is not enough time to ease anything. We grieve with you.

To the family of Lee Adler,

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy for your lost. I knew Lee as his Physical Therapist. I worked with him on his shoulder(s) many times. He was such a nice man with a great sense of humor. He loved talking about his family and his work. It was so obvious how proud he was of both. I am sure all of his loved ones must feel such a profound sense of loss. I wish you all the strength and courage that one needs to move on. I am sure he is with God, talking up a storm about you all and making the angels laugh. God Bless you all.
