Here we are 17 years later and our friendship still frozen in time. I wonder at certain times of the year what our days would have been like had you not been taken from us. Each time I pass Wagner Park I'm reminded I was to meet you there at 4:00pm 17 years ago this very day. I have never forgotten you or a day we had spent together. Until we meet again, I will now and forever be your devoted friend.

Ms. Behr...
I did not get the chance to meet you... I was very small at the time, I had no idea that you existed until just this year. A good friend of mine named Frank told me about you when the anniversary came up. I just thought it would be appropriate and such to pay my respects... Many people miss you very dearly, you are loved... maybe one day I can get the chance to meet you. On that fateful day I was a child, 4 years old & ignorant to how cruel the world can be... I am now 18 and about to leave for Navy boot camp. It hurts me badly to know such an innocent and sweet life was taken away so cruely... though I did not know you at all, I very much hope you are resting peacefully and I hope your loved ones have peace in their hearts as well... Continue to watch over your loved ones, Maria, God bless you & your family and friends. Rest In Peace

My dear friend Maria who came to me in my dream last night. You scooped me up when I arrived in New York, a special friend who attended my wedding in Scotland too. I arrive in New York in a weeks time and will head down to the memorial to pay my respect to you in person. Your laugh will never be forgotten, your kindness always there. With love Jennifer

I was a client of Maria's when she worked at Jeffries & Co. She was always friendly & professional on the phone. I left my job in 1994 to stay home with my infant daughter. Maria sent me a gift when I left & I knew her only motivation was kindness since it was clear that I wasn't planning on returning to work. I think of Maria every Sept 11th & of her generosity. May she rest in peace.

Miss Behr, I never knew you... I really don't know your story. On 9/11 I was 2 days away from finishing boot camp. I have deployed 3 times since. I found your headstone today while doing a funeral for a Vet... You made me grateful for the chance to continue to serve this great nation. You made me hold my children a little tighter today. Thank you for touching my life

Miss Behr...
You were my 10th grade Spanish teacher at Bishop McDevitt in 1988. I think about you and your beautiful daughter Maria often. This was a loss for us all and I share in your grief. We can only help that time lessens the pain, just a bit, and I pray that this message finds you well.
You and your family are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Maria,
I have never forgotten you. From the moment I met you as friends of Mike and Mark at Hairy Mary's, you were an unforgettable person. Smart, savvy, stylish...you were the epitome of a successful woman who had made her way up in the world, literally and figuratively - all the way to the top of the WTC in Manhattan.
I did not know you for long, only several months. I do remember meeting your family at M & M's Halloween Party the previous October, and they were lovely people.
A month later, over brunch with Mark at a local cafe, you heard that I had a very special date with someone who I had met, and who was flying from San Francisco to come spend some time with me. I wanted it to be a special weekend, maybe take in a Broadway play... You, in your way, said "Hey, let me get you guys tickets to "Rent" - it's no problem, I can get them through the company - just enjoy yourselves!"
Well, we did - it was an unforgettable date, and now I am living in SF, still with my "date" from that night, 14 years later.
I think of you and your family every single time I hear the words WTC spoken.
I think of what you may have been, and where your life would have led you by this time.
Rest in peace, Maria - and know you will NEVER be forgotten.

Maria,
It's been 10 years and I promise I will never forget you. I am in CA but we had regular business contact via phone and I always respected your knowledge and your direct and sensible style. You are the only person I knew who died on 9/11 and I will always remember you. Love and peace to your loved ones who must have a hole in their lives with you gone.

Maria,
I only met you once when bringing my daughter and her friend around trick-or-treating. On another occasion you allowed the children to select a cat from a new litter of kittens at your home. You were a kind person with a seemingly bright future ahead. Eveytime I pass your home on Church Road, I think of you. My sincere condolences to your friends and family.

God bless our country and the victims of Sept. 11th and what the terrorists can never take away our people like Maria who believed in America and lost their lives for it. Keep the faith. May Maria Behr's memory live along with the others who lost their lives on September 11th.

It has now been a year since the tragedy and it is still difficult to understand the reasons behind the fact that you were taken from this earth in such chaos....
I miss my classmate, sharing experiences from Elementary school until graduation from High School.....the changes, the highs, the lows, everything from embarrassing moments to moments of glory and the memories of growing from girls to women....I am so glad to have those memories...that cannot be taken away.....
Now we are all counting on you to guide us as we make our way through our journey of life....as we know you still listen...
To your family and loved ones...I can only try to imagine the loss you feel...Maria left a lasting impression ...definitely not one forgotten....What a beautiful person......

To Maria and the Behr family... I knew your brother George when he worked in Texas, and had a tremendous amount of respect for his knowledge and his integrity. It is a tribute to your parents that they obviously have set a beautiful example in raising their children with such strong values; the dignity, kindness, integrity, and respect for others that George and you have shown to your colleagues are a testimony of your upbringing, and an example for all of us to follow. May God bless you always. Please remember that you, and all of the victims of September 11 will forever remain in our hearts- on this first anniversary, and always. 9/10/2002

To the family of Maria Behr, please accept our deepest sympathies. My husband, John Raphael, was a client of Maria's. But he considered her more like a dear friend which they were for many years. He always enjoyed spending time with her. John admired her business sense and work ethic. Our entire family has felt her loss. God Bless You

Maria,
Though we never met, I felt your presence so strong when I was in your home when it was for sale. I could tell that you were the loving, wonderful person that so many say you were. I wanted so much to buy your home to continue the beautiful work that you had started there. It breaks my heart that I couldn't buy your home. I do have this tree that I will plant in your memory at my new home in Doylestown. May you be at peace and always smile down on those who hold you close in their hearts.
Grace & Peace,

I met Maria when I was at a crossroads in my life. You were an inspiration to me, an example of what I could achieve if I had belief in myself and plenty of persistence. You had a wicked sense of humour, a keen enjoyment of life's pleasures. You could hold your own with any man and you were as sharp and savvy a person as I have ever met. Yet you were also such a nuturing and caring person, qualities I saw in you at your home in Milford, NJ. I know you wanted children and I am sorry that never happened for you. You had a lot to offer a child. I feel sure you are now watching over your nieces and nephews, loving and protecting them as always.
To Maria's family, whom I met only once, at a barbecue at Maria's house in 1997, you are in my prayers, as you have been since September 11th, 2001.
Love,
Lisa & Adrian Iacono

Maria, I never met you but I talked to you on the phone a lot for business. You were my image of a consummate New Yorker - smart, direct and no-nonsense. You knew your business. God bless you, Maria.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

As I wanted to contribute to the memorial of 9/11.I had no name that directly related me with the tragedy of that day. I wanted to address to someone personally. I picked you because your last name is close to my last name and my grandmother, my mother and my daughter are named Maria. My daugter, Charlotte Maria de Beer, was planning to study theatrical arts this semester in New York. She almost would have been there on sept 11. You were there, I will remember your name as an innocent victem of terror. I wish your relatives and friends all the stength they need.
