One score and zero days ago, the world was changed forever. We were robbed of so many incredible people, like you. Tom, you profoundly touched so many lives, in your 43 years. Your strength , intelligence, superlative wit, and unflappable confidence will always live on, in the memories of all you have touched. Twenty years doesn't abate the anguish of losing you, so needlessly. Still missing you, as much, 20 years later, Holmes. Always in my thoughts,

20 years a great man was taken from us. He was an awesome guy. Always making people laugh and loved his family. Even though we weren’t biologically family he was my cousins uncle but we always spent time together as family. Celebrated birthdays, holidays or just going to your house for a barbecue. Fellow cheese head like my mother. My father said he would see you some mornings running to catch the train. You were a big man with knee issue but you would run climb over things to make that train. You left behind a beautiful wife and 2 very very young kids. They’ve grown up and became awesome adults. Always missed always thought of. Lisa C

Tom Dennis was maybe the nicest person I ever met. We sat together and he made everyday day better just by being there. On September 11th I had left Cantor Fitzgerald but Tom and I where talking on the phone when the first plane hit. We where talking about his 2nd favorite thing the Green Bay Packers. His wonderful wife and family where always 1st. We where talking about the fact my new neighbor in Florida Robert Ford a coach with the Miami Dolphins had arranged for us to go to See the Green Bay Packers. He was happy and excited. To told some jokes he could have been a stand up comedian. Then disaster happened. Tom said he would walk down and call me when he got to the bottom. I never heard from him again. I have missed him so many times since then. He was a gentleman a funny man and a loyal friend. I can say I Loved my friend. But every time I feel sorry for losing a dear friend. I remember how lucky I was to enjoy his friendship. God Bless You

Hey "Mr. D." Was just thinking about our days at Lincoln Savings Bank and the times after Lincoln was sold how I would see you once and a while when we were both commuting into the city. You were always making everyone laugh. You were a good man who adored his family. Scrolling through these posts, I remembered when I gave you my dad's pre-season tickets to the Packers/Giants game. My son is a Packer's fan too. Rest in peace my old friend.

Tom, we think about you often and miss you even more. Marilyn and I will be married 28 years this year and she is still wearing the engagement ring you helped me pick out. Thanks buddy.

Memories of you always bring a smile - and I tell the story all the time about the 3 of us after a long night at the Ground Round after school at SUNY Farmingdale one very snowy winter night, when we made you stay overnight at our apartment and Marilyn fell out of the car door into the snow bank when we opened her door. The 2 of us were laughing and crying so hard we could barely help her up. lol Thank you for all the smiles your friendship brought us and still brings us. Much, much love my friend. You were and still are a truly amazing guy. Our thoughts are with you, Kathy and the kids on this anniversary.

Tom 2007.
I just found out when my sister Patty Donnellan just called.
We thought of you Tom over the years. Tom was the one
who always came to our rescue and stuck up for us kids.
When I was 11 or 12 years old Tom was my hero.
Thank you Tom for watching out for my family.

P.S. Tom I hope you got another dog and named it Max or Maxine.
And I hope your Mom forgave you for running through her home
with the garden hose and getting your buddies soaked =)

Adie Donnellan

March 11, 2007

Just found out from my older sister
about Tom. I am truly sorry and my
heart goes out to Tom's family.
When my sisters and I were growing up in Stony Brook, N.Y. Tom lived in a house one up from us with his Mom and his dog Max. Tom would always let my younger sister Krisy and I visit and play with Max. Tom was in high school at the time and in the afternoon he would be home usually throwing the football in the street with his high school buddies. Krisy and I used to always steal the football from the boys and they would run after us until they got the football back.
There was even a time Krisy and I tied a garden hose with a big bow on top around one of Tom's friends cars and let them come out of the house to find it that way.
Over time Tom became a very good family friend. At one point he was in a very serious car accident and
we would visit with him in the hospital often while he recovered.
I think back now and we probaly drove him crazy, me and my two sisters. He just always acted happy to see us. There was a time when my family, living in a single parent household, was being harrassed by some people who weren't very nice. Tom got his buddies together and located the people that were bothering us. Until this day I don't know what was said, but it worked and they never bothered our family again. My mom was most grateful. I am truly sad. We lost a wonderful friend. Love and prayers to Tom's family and friends.

Dear Tom, As you know, I moved away from Stony Brook in 1980, and moved to the Midwest. You used to kid me, not to marry a hillbilly. Well i did just that. I have been out of New York State for over twenty five years. When the towers were hit. I always feared that someone, I went to school with could have been in the towers, but always prayed that hopefully not. I was poking around the internet and found you here. I am so sad, for you and your family. I will pray for you and your wife and kids. I am so so sorry. I am hearing of your death right now, for the first time. I can't belive it Tom. I was'nt supposed to find you hear. Not here. Patty Donnellan

Holmes,

I will always remember that first day of my 9th grade year when I sat next to the new kid in first period English Class. We became true friends instantly and I will be forever grateful for that. The many years that followed were filled with incredible experiences. You were always part of the "Great Times" ... Always there to laugh with, always there to lean on. Your quick wit and robust smile were only out measured by the greatness of your heart and soul. Even after our terrible car accident in Feb. '79, your spirit never faltered. I was so lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries as you, my friend, bore the brunt of the collision. Yet, as I visited you most every day in the hospital for months, it was you who carried on with your trade mark banter and repartee. You kept both of our spirits high. I remember how I would order my meals from your horrible menu and sneak in the good stuff for you to eat. Thank you Tom, for showing me and everyone who had the privilage of knowing you how truly amazing the human spirit can be.

Words cannot express the loss I felt when my mother told me that you were in the WTC on that dreadful day. I cried as I spoke to you... I thanked you, I apologized for not staying more in touch with you and I told you how very much I appreciated your dear friendship. As I watched, in horror, the heroic efforts of all who began to sift through Ground Zero, a part of me expected to see you emerge from the rubble, dust off your jacket, straighten your tie, grin from ear to ear and request a "cold one". You were always so damned indestructible. As Neil said, "forever a legend to us all."

My heart and prayers go out to your family, Kathy and your children. I hope they understand what a truly wonderful man their father was.

You dubbed us "Holmes and Watson" that 9th grade year. Whenever we met, whenever we departed, whenever we raised a glass to each other, it was always "Holmes and Watson, Watson and Holmes"... "Until the bitter end"

I love you man

I miss you

...Watson

Tom,

I remember our days at Lincoln. They were great days. You got the position at Cantor Fitzgerald and were so happy and I was so happy for you. We lost touch and I'm sorry for that. I especially remember football seasons and our rivalry with you being a packers fan and Jim being a bears fan. There are so many things I can say. You were the best. You always made the day fun. I think about you and your family all the time. I'm so sorry this has happened. Football season is here once again and I actually root for the packers. You are missed. GO PACKERS!!!! Kathy, my thoughts are with you and the kids everyday.
