Brendan was my classmate, my friend, my quarterback. Too many memories to even try to recite here. He was a great person. Smart. Friendly. Funny.
My lasting memory from among all are the Thanksgiving game against Xavier in November, 1981. Behind at halftime, we abandoned all plays other than Brendan throwing the ball. In the huddle, he made it clear that we had to give him time to throw. And, man did he ever throw. As we protected him, you could literally hear the sound of him letting go of the ball. He threw us back into the game -- it was a heroic performance. He took many hits despite our desire to prevent the Xavier guys who were coming in waves from hitting him. He never blamed anyone, just said "huddle up" and urged us on for the next play. Brandan Dolan was a leader in every regard. We would have done anything he asked.
It is the eve of the 18th year since that awful day. I remain pained by the loss of so many, especially Brendan and so young. I know that he was leading others right to the end -- trying to comfort, encourage, and bring out the best in all around him.
He remains in my thoughts and prayers always, as do his family -- especially his wife and daughters.
Ave atque vale, Brendan.

My name is Jonah and I am a senior in High School at Princeton Day School. A class that I am in has recently been working on a project in which we research a victim of the 9/11 attacks and get to know them, their life, and eventually write a story about a day in their lives. Although I never met Brendan or anyone related to him, I feel like through reading every post on this site as well as the numerous articles written about him I have begun to know him. I mourn with everyone on this page and my prayers go out to the entire Dolan Family and truly anyone who knew Brendan. My email is [email protected] incase anyone would like to contact me.

I was a senior offensive tackle charged with protecting Brendan, then a junior. We use to try to "bust his chops" since he was younger. Never could bother him though. His comebacks would just make you smile.
I ran into him a few times after our days at Fordham Prep. Stayed the warm hearted kid I knew in high school.
God's blessings to the entire Dolan family, as he has blessed you, and me, in sharing a part of his life.

When looking at Brendans Picture I am brought back to my childhood, my father was his Godfather, and the pictures on our wall till this day of his parents, bring alot of memories. Even when you don't see relatives and close family members for many years you still feel the pain and loss. I hope someday the pain eases. Brendan will be thought of as someone who knew how to live, not someone who died.
Think of the Dolan Family on this day.

I come to this tribute site every so often to spark my fond memories and pay my respects. I truly miss you, Stacy and your entire family, Brendan. The events that took place almost 2 years ago, took away a whole lot more for me but in return, I have found the life in which we live is not to be taken for granted or lived in vain. I really miss you and was looking forward to introducing you to my new family and re-linking up with you, Stacy and your family upon moving back into the metro area after not seeing you in almost 7 years. Fortunately, I did get to see Stacy and meet Sarah & Samantha but not under the circumstances anyone would've wanted or could've imagined! I just want you to know I think about you, your wonderful family and friends often...and I will continue to do so throughout my life. Thank you again for a whole lot of laughter, happy memories and inspiration.
God Bless...

one year on from that fateful day when the lives of countless numbers of people was changed in the space of a few minutes.
Always remember never forget...
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

To Brendan's Family,
I played with Brendan at the Prep and also was in his graduating class. He coined my nickname of "Big Dom". If I had known that he was in Glen Rock I would have gone to see him. Brendan was a good person who helped me learn the game of football. My condolences to his entire family.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Brendan was in my husband Jim's graduating class at Fordham Prep. I didn't know him, but I do know that he was a valued friend of my husband's. Seeing Brendan's picture in the yearbook and reading the kind words he signed there really drove this tragedy home for me, though I never met him. He was obviously a special person.
We are so very sorry for your loss. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your family always.
