I came across Amy's name on a memorial posting . My parents were Irish and I was sure Amy must have had Irish heritage, so I researched. And in researching of course I discovered what a wonderful young woman she was, one who left beautiful memories for friends and family alike. I will think of Amy. I have added her to my list of people to pray for, that she enjoys now the glory of heaven. God Bless you Amy.

I am here visiting with my family and yesterday we went to the world trade center memorial and my mom wanted us to split up and find a name and pray for them and i also wanted to come here and tell you that i hope she is somewhere safe and is having a good day! And i hope that she lived a full and happy life with her family and friends. Because that is what i think life is about is having good memories and i hope she had a lot of them. I am 12 years old and from Austin, Texas.

Thinking of you, Amy. It's been a very long time and yet, I blinked. I finally made my first trip to the city, just this past year. Gosh I would've loved to have experienced NYC in your company, that would've been a blast. I could picture no time seeming to have past, like we could've picked up right where we left off in Allegany. Giggling all the way, even all those years later.
I didn't think I could find you by the time I reached your memorial in the museum, through my blurry eyes, but as I took a deep breath and looked up, there you were. And I remembered your giggle...your smile. It was just a moment, but I am forever grateful I made it there, to have that moment.
I don't even know how you made it there, from Allegany to the tower... or how your story went.... I missed many chapters from Allegany to there....I only know it's not over, it's just in the heavenly chapter. And it's still leaving ripples, carrying light.

Hi Amy,
Still thinking of you. Great times living across the hall from you and pledging Kappa Phi together. I shared my essay again in class. I usually share this essay in Creative Essay. It's been a few years since I taught this class. I read our tongue piercing story again to the class. I didn't even get to the second page and I started choking up. I wish you stayed at SHU. My last memory of you...you were driving away from Gail's apartment in your Jeep. That was May 2001. How sad that your life would end only a few short months later.

I can't believe it's been almost 10 years and I still tear up as if it were yesterday. As you know Amy, your mom and sister are two of the most amazing people in the world! I now work with Maura and her amazing new husband, spend Thanksgiving with your mom, sister, uncle, cousins, their kids, etc. and there is never a moment that you are not there with us! I am thankful for our connection through Pelham hockey (and you always being such a good sport!) that they have become such a special part of my life. Thinking of you often, hope that bright smile hasn't changed a bit.

Hey Amy, I know it's been nine years, but I still often think about our time together at Bonas! What a blast we had on third Dev and playing lacrosse! Please know that someday soon, you will get the justice you have been waiting for.

I never met Amy but I am in Kappa Phi sorority at Sacred Heart University. Amy was in the Delta class of Kappa Phi. Every year our sorority holds a 9/11 vigil where we read Amy's name and pledge class. After our vigil last night I decided to look up this woman who is on all of my sisters minds every year at this time. Even though we never met her we all do our best to honor her memory here at SHU.

Amy,
Its been years. I'm married now, so the name has changed a bit. I thought of you again last night. I saw something on the history channel on 9/11. It made me think of you again. I want you to know that I share your story with my students in Creative Essay. Its a long essay that describes you, our many fights and our tongue piercing experience. Some students have cried and others have shared their experiences. I teach in Dracut, Ma. The pilot from one of the planes was from this town...so 9/11 never goes by without thoughts to those we lost. I'll always tell your story.

On the 5th Anniversary of the terrible tragedy I just wanted you to know you are not forgotten. You were the link on the other side of the pond, and you were so much fun to talk to.You looked after me when I came to visit to put some faces to names, just 3 months before that fateful day in 2001.Thank you.
I hope your family have found peace as I know how difficult it has been for me to come to terms with what happened to my colleagues.

The last time I saw Amy, we were in the elevator in our aparment building in New Rochelle. Amy had started her job at Cantor and she was just moving to her new place in the city. We used to get stuck in that crazy elevator together often, and would chat away about life, her mom's car, and how one day, we should meet up for drinks. It all seems so trivial now, but I have made a promise to never let such a wonderful person slip away like that again. From my new home in Houston I can still see her smile in that New Rochelle elevator.

Hello, I first heard about Amy's death when I received the News Letter from Camp Hi-Rock, I can't really remember Amy to well but I remember she was a very nice person and was very kind to people she meant. This year being the 3rd Aniversary of September 11th, 2001, really made me sad, inlcuding the ceremony we have at my school. I am sorry for the loss of Amy.
May god bless, and help you through these tough times.

Dear Amy,
I couldn't believe it when I heard that you were gone. It has been a long time since I last saw you but I will never forget your love for life. I remember (who could forget!) all the good times we had as roommates at SHU freshman year. As an ice hockey player I was excited to hear that you also played hockey- but lacrosse and field hockey too?!? You certainly didn't take life for granted and lived each day to it's fullest. It was a very emotional experience visiting ground zero and highlighting your name on a banner yesterday. I continue to keep you and your family in my prayers- God bless you. You are missed by many- but we will see you again someday.
Love, Kristine

Amy,
Its been a year. I think of your last moments now and how I wish things could have been different. I highlighted your name on the cover of the Boston Herald this morning. I am sure your name will grace newspapers, magazines, and headlines across the world. I read an article in Vanity Fair about you. I also heard your story was told on Oprah. You are never forgotten Amy. Your family will never forget, your friends will never forget, strangers will never forget, THE WORLD WILL NEVER FORGET.
Rest in Peace that your memory will live on.

To the Family of Amy O'Dougherty:
I volunteered my time to stitch a square for a Memorial Flag that is being done in honor of the victims of all terrorist attacks. I received Amy's square to stitch and researched her. I will always carry her with me and I cried when I read about her because she was just starting her life. May God bless you and keep you safe.

I'll never forget freshman year @ SHU, pledging memories, getting our tongues pierced. I'll never forget sticking my finger with ice cream into your journal, watching Dirty Dancing or The Cutting Edge, borrowing your endless supply of JCrew clothes, I remember your laugh, that smile, your voice. We'll always have those Memories and our sisterhood with Kappa Phi. You are a wonderful person, the true meaning of FUN. I'll never forget the last conversation we had (5/17/01) you looked great, happy, and with your hair blowing with your Jeep Top down....that is how I hope you are in Heaven. Living Large.
You will be sorely missed. Your legacy will live on. This isn't a goodbye Amy, this is a See ya Later.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
