I worked with George at Frank B hall from 1981 until 1984. I shared a beach house with George at Normandy Beach, N.J. in 1984. I left the company and NYC in '84 and didn't hear about George's passing many, many years later. All I can say is that George was a wonderful man.

The Flight 93 National Memorial site at Shanksville, PA has a wall capturing film footage from the three memorial sites. George's engraved name appears near the end of a C-Span video presentation as part of the NYC Memorial (https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4976819/user-clip-george-john-bishop). It's just another way to remember George, my boyhood friend and classmate, who was so very kind, so very smart, and such a very good soul.

I worked in the Aon Baltimore office and worked a bit with George. As the description said, he was always so kind and thoughtful and just an all-around good human being. I am thinking about him today during the Aon moment of silence and my prayers go to his family.

Its 2019 and many years after 9/11. My friends and i went for a bike ride on the Brewster rail trail and sat down to rest. I looked at the bench we were sitting on was Georges. Fitting on Memorial Day. Let it be know that we stood quietly many years later to honor his life cut to short.

I worked at a group health insurance company called Equicor in New York City in the late 1980's. I was in my early 20's. George worked at benefits insurance broker Rollins Burdick Hunter and George was the broker on a couple clients of mine. My 3+ years at Equicor gave me the base for my career and George was part of that, teaching me a thing or two about the business. We had long gone separate ways by the time 9/11 happened. All my best to George's family.

I just watched a video where a Biker wore George John Bishop's name tag for the Million Biker Ride to DC this year in honor of those Americans who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. I wanted to know where George was when that fateful day occurred and find out something about him. Thank you for the place to come and recognize, honor & remember him. Thank you for the opportunity to say, my heart goes out to you as his family and tonight...I have lifted a prayer up for your family....one among billions of prayers lifted up on your behalf since that day, no doubt. May God be with you and bless you and restore you. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Ms. Bishop, I worked in Baltimore on 9/11 and spoke with your husband several times. He was always so nice and helpful and fun to talk to as we had similiar positions. I just wanted you to know that I will never forget him.

Best friends in grade school- years that formed us. Took a Cub Scout trip up the Hudson with his good and gentle dad. Spent the clear blue day, not unlike 9-11, at West Point. George was not the type to run and jump (though he could outrun everyone in our class). He climbed a tank slowly with a respect that I now see precocious in a young boy. His smile was one of real joy, a smile only dampened once in eighth grade when we heard something about Cuba and some missiles.
George taught me my first piece on the piano with an unusual three fingered bass (thumb, pointer, and middle) that I still use today. We went to different high schools and sadly never saw much of each other after that. But he is undeniably part of me now. I will remember his clear eyes, sharp mind, and the spring in his step that came from his buoyant spirit.
We can only wonder of the private terror he faced and I still find my 12 year old self reaching out in a timeless world to rescue my 12 year old friend. But time is real and despite the violence, these ten years have at least allowed me a softer view that I find captured in these words from Joyce’s Ulysses:
“Frail from the housetops two plumes of smoke ascended, pluming, and in a flaw of softness softly were blown.”
May his spirit continue to blow softly upon us all.

I did not know George but I worked for the same company, AON. I was blessed to have survived the 92nd floor of Tower 2. Today, I am remembering George at the Tribute Center during the 12:00 walking tour. It is important for me to remember all 176 AON collegaues (one at a time) that were killed on 9/11. I want to keep George's memory alive today - to give him a voice - and to pray for his family. I would have wanted the same if I had perished. George's spirit and memory will live on! May God Bless George, family, friends, and all whose life he touched! Sincerely, Susan Wylie

Just wanted to reach out to George's family...His wife & children, his Mom & Dad & his sisters...I know there wasn't the closure that I'm sure you all needed & deserved. I remember George as a friend, neighbor & schoolmate. He was just as he appeared, a good hearted person. I'm sure he's smiling down on all of you. It was just God's plan that he should be remembered in this way. His spirit will always be in all our hearts.

Hi...I can honestly say that i never knew George Bishop, but at our school they distributed wrist bands on the anniversary of September 11 with a name and the age of a person who perished...i was handed Mr. Bishops band and a wave of sadness came over me, and i felt like i knew your family member. I just wanted to say thank you for letting me share his life with me, even though we have never met. Feel free to email me a response. God bless!

A year after George's passing, he is still missed. George was more than a just great consultant. It was always such a pleasure to speak with George or meet him at his office -- sure, he'd always share great advice, but it was the wonderful stories about vacations with his family, his positive, cheerful outlook on life and his warm sense of humor that set him apart. I feel very fortunate to have known George.

We did not know John, but my husband is a brother of Cam Sutton who works for Aon. I came across this on the internet and wanted to express our deepest sympathy. We are deeply sorry for your loss of George. May his kind heart, his life and love live on in you. May the sorrow in your hearts be lightened by warm memories of times together. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I grew up as a good friend of George's sister, Kathy, and knew his family in West Orange, NJ. I have just learned that George was lost in this terrible disaster that has affected our nation. The biggest loss is to individual families who have to move on in the face of the constant reminders of Sept. 11th. When I think of that day, I will always think of George and his family. May his memory live on forever. I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers.
