Louis Minervino Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 27, 2001.
A Very Quiet Life
Louis J. Minervino didn't really have hobbies. He had a job and he had a family. At work, he calculated figures as an accountant for Marsh USA on the 98th floor of 2 World Trade Center. At home, in Middletown, N.J., he helped his young daughters, Laina and Marisa, tabulate their schoolwork. Now they are college graduates.

Mr. Minervino 54, was dedicated and disciplined. He was married 26 years. "He was quiet, so quiet," his wife, Barbara, recalls. "He was so quiet we once asked him if he was in the witness protection program."

Saturdays were for chores around the house — chores he did with quiet precision. On Sundays, he would pile his papers on the dining room table to do office work. Some of the other habits he left behind: rotating his socks in the drawer, to put the most recently washed in the back; sharpening pencils to a perfect point. And knowing how to say goodbye.

"He never left the house without kissing everyone goodbye," his wife says. "He made a trip to each of the girls rooms to say goodbye. And then he came to me."

Mr. Minervino was a nice person. He was the head of my department at Guy Carpenter before he was promoted to Marsh a couple of months later. He will be always remembered and missed.

Barbara, Laina and Marissa:

I was so saddened to learn about about Louis' and you all have been on our church prayer list since 911 and in our family's prayers. Dear Barbara:

My daughter-in-law, Ewa Skrzypecka May, was introduced to Marsh by your husband. She spoke so highly of him and with such obvious affection, that I came to feel as if I knew him.

On retreat at the Passionist Retreat House in Jamaica, New York, I entered your husband's name in the book of remembrances and asked all who read it to pray for his soul and for you and your brave children.

God's blessings.

Lou and I were fraternity brothers in St. John's. We would run into each other now and then in NYC.

It was a shock and very sad to learn of his death.

Like his profile indicates, he was a quiet and honorable man.

My heart goes out to his family.

Dear Mrs. Minverino, I knew your husband for many years, he worked very closely with my boss, Rose Ann Albero. He was always very kind

and pleasant and I still cannot

believe that he has left us. You

and your family are in my thoughts

and prayers now and always. Love,

Barbara

My family came to America about 100 years ago and many of them settled in NJ. My grandfather came to Ct and started our little branch. I was very saddened to hear about the loss of a paisano and possible relative.

The cost of the disaster and the loss of those beautiful buildings can not even compare to such loss of human life and the termination of all of the promise those lives offered. We grieve with you and wish you to know that our thoughts are with you in these trying times. Those animals that supported such a tragedy thought they could hurt us as a nation but they are wrong. Louis Minervino and all the others were not simple victims of these terrorists but instead were the first casualties in a war which will end with the demise of the militants and all they stand for.

Barbara - you hired me at Drexel in 1976 - just before you left to have your first daughter - I will never forget how in love you and Lou were and how kind you were - may you and your daughters take comfort in how were loved - you were an inspiration to me at a very important time in my life and I thank you for it - If I can be of any help to you - please call.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

My thoughts and prayers are extended to the family of Louis Minervino. The Minervino name is not a particularly common one and although I did not know Mr. Minervino, the events of September 11 have reminded me of how closely we are all interconnected as people and Americans.

I my father's name was also Louis Minervino. My cousin made me aware of this name on the list.

If you are from Gimigliano, Calabria, as many Minervinos are, we, like many Americans, have come from a far distance to experience this tragedy in our new homeland.

I hope that you, to whom I feel a special closeness, and all the families of this disaster will find the strength to regroup and enjoy life again. I know it will be a while. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Barbara:

I was moved to tears by today's NY Times story, enough to write you, a total stranger. Please know that you have so many people praying for you, and your loved ones. We are grieving, and would all love to leave a tuna casserole at your door, just to show how much we care...........Much love.........
