To the Caproni family, am so sorry for the loss of Rich. I knew his parents Richard and Dee from the gym in Ocean City MD, my late husband and I used to live there. I watch for his name every year on the Memorial Service (TV). I share his name so he is never forgotten. I told my son; I found out I was expecting him on 9/10/2001. Rest in Peace

Coach Caproni,
This is a note to you and the passing of your son. I'm sure he was a "good man." They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. In your case I'm very sure that's the truth. As a student and athlete under your guidance, you were like the father I wished for. You touched many children during your time at South Side. Richard lives within all of us. Be proud, may you sail in peaceful seas.
We can't thank you enough,

I heard but couldnt believe. Today I came across a pic of me & you at a Language Services Holiday party. Then I made it my business to listen for your name, I heard it for the first time. You were the shining star @ LS, you helped the production team get through the day. You are missed. God bless you & your family. Rest In Peace

Hello there my friend....I feel a little pretentious signing in here year after year, like I'm somehow looking for "Credit" for remembering you. Truth is, you are in my thoughts daily. Whenever times are tough, I think about how you would handle adversity, and how you'd love to be able to have one more bad day. You always made even your worst days somehow better than most people's bad days.
11 years now...WOW...hard to believe. Lucas and daily are 7 and 4 now and I have begun telling them about you and hope I can instill in them many of the values that your Mom & Dad instilled in you.
Love and miss you more than ever.

Mr.Caproni gave me the chance of making my firts slide, today power point presentation, it was about a flight during winter with the music of Elton John. Little that Mr.Caproni new, that those were my first steps in Aviation.
Today I have over 30,000 hours and every time I make a Power Point to teach others for free, I think of you.
There no words to describe a lost of son, but I can say this. Behind every cloud I see in the sky during the long nights, I see Angels which I am sure that one of them is your son Richard.
From up there I see how fragil we all are. Destiny is something that we can not change, since God controls that.
Every thing is just a matter of time. Some times some of us like Richard, go a little bit early. That means that he had a bigger mission, in looking down on us, in helping from a spiritual point of view.I have been going up to the skys since was 15, and every time is special is like the first time back at Zahns or Republic.
I respect the place were we all came from one day and MR. Caproni, I will be looking out and praying for your son, since I know that he will be there behind a cloud looking down on all of you.
May God Bless your Family.
May God Bless America.

Happy Birthday my friend!!! Congrats on your NY Football Giants winning the Super Bowl, but my prayer was for the JETS, not the Giants. Time has done very little to heal the wounds of losing you. Your Mom seems to be doing well, and your Dad is as awesome as ever. I ran into Michael at a Mets game last summer, he looked well.
I try to live my life by the example you showed us all, it's not always easy. My boys are getting big, God how I wish Uncle Ricky was in their lives. Much of you lives on in me, and I hope I am able to pass that along to them.
I miss you everyday and enjoy telling stories about you. You sure were bigger than life my friend.
Miss you and Love You! Happy Birthday.

Richard,
Some time in the past 10 years I became aware that our dear Coach Caproni had lost his son. Your dad was such a wonderful influence to the young men at SouthSide HS in RVC. Not knowing of this website, we had no way of letting your family know how we grieved for their overwhelming loss.
This morning as I opened Newsday there on page 7 is a photo of your parents at yesterday's memorial service in NYC. Quoting your Dad in the article "Nothing is ever going to make Rich come back, but I want him to be remembered in a positive way.....the spirit lives on..."
In reading the many messages posted, I feel I now know you too & truly your spirit lives on in the many friends & family you had while on this earth. It's clear to see you are a "chip off the old block" as they say. My heart hurts for your family. Peace be with you. Say hello to John Sherry of RVC (my son-in-laws brother) who entered heaven along with you on 9/11.
John, 34 years old like you, was a GIANTS fan too!
We have not and will not ever forget all of you holy innocents. Always in our hearts and prayers.

Hello My Friend:
Another year has passed, it is now a decade. A decade where no new memories were created, a decade where I longed to laugh with you one more time. Your time on Earth was cut short, but you left all of us filled with Lifetimes of memories.
As you know, I ran into Michael at the Mets game the other night. Thanks for putting him back in my life. We'll be gathering at the MHRC again this week and will laugh and cry and share memories with Friends and Family.
I love you and miss you every day my friend. I will hug your Dad & Christopher this weekend...and do you think you can try and get an appointment with The Big Guy and pull some miracles for the Jets this year?? :)

I can't believe it has been 9 years?! I never imagined that the pain and emotion I feel would have been just as strong today as they were 9 years ago. You'd be proud of the showing we get at your Memorial Golf outing, but I'm sure you know since you are there with us.

Hello there my friend...another year has passed and I miss you more then ever. Rarely a day goes by that something doesn't remind me of you, a song, a movie, Penn State Football, the New York Football Giants...you permeate everyday life for all you touched. I am now able to laugh more and cry less when remembering you, but the tears still flow. With all the evil people in the world it still confuses me as to why you were taken.
I miss you and love you my friend.

To the Caproni Family,
Although I never met your beloved Richard, my mother Mildred and I both worked alongside Lisa for years in NY&CO. She was always a special person to us both. Our prayers have gone out to Richard every year since 2001 when we initially saw your family's pleas, and continue to do so during the annual reading of the names. (As irony would have it, they just now read Richard's name as I typed that)
This was the first year that I thought to google his name, and I learned many things about Richard's life. I commend your entire family for your strength, and will follow Mr. Caproni's direction and commemorate this day with a smile and happy thoughts.
God Bless you all.

Grand Pooh Bah,
Each year does not lessen the pain, but enough about me.
Was in OZ the other day and Mike & your tree looks great.
The plaques look good, no weeds around them.
Big Jets game coming up next month with the Ugly Team.
I won’t go on about the Giants because Mac already made me laugh.
The summer will have many of the Team in OZ for 20 year reunion.
The staring line will probably be similar to the 10 year but for two.
You will be missed & toasted.
Miss you,

Hey Ricky,
The 9/11 anniversary is always an especially sad day for me but more often than not when I think of you my thoughts are fun memories. Lynbrook dedicated a memorial to its residents who were died on 9/11 and Peter and I placed your flower on your stone. I couldn't help thinking that you were smiling down on us. Having you move to Lynbrook was a wonderful blessing for me and all who loved you here ... we now have our own place to stop and say hi and sit on the bench dedicated to you and Michael.
I love you and miss you ...

I wish you were here, where are you? I need you now. I live with the memory of having you alive. You were one of the sweetest people I knew at Marsh. You were there to comfort me in my time of distress. I'd run over to your cubicle and you'd comfort me. I'd feel better, go back to my seat until the next episode.
Rich, after all this time, I still have not found anyone to fill your shoes. You had a heart of gold and I can't help but compare you to everyone.
Remember when we went out, you bought me a drink and afterwards you walked me to the train. We shared a kiss and who knew that would be the last
I still mourn your death, and will so until we meet again

The team is assembling for the 15-year reunion tomorrow and we will of course miss your pre-game, half time, and two-minute warning pep talk. To the Caproni Family,
The entries here may grow less frequent over time, but you can rest assured that your son will continue to have a wonderfully positive impact on his friends and their families for a lifetime to come. We can't wait to tell our one-year old the stories....when she is of-age, of course!.
We both think about Rich often and he is in our conversations at least every week or two.
Last Sunday night we attended a Bruce Springsteen concert at Fenway Park in Boston. As we stood on the field, memories of the three of us attending a Springsteen show here in Boston in 1999 came rushing back. So we blew him a big kiss up in the sky and proceeded to have the time of our lives. That is what he would DEMAND of us.
He was a great friend, a gentle giant. We'll always love him and we'll never forget him.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
Rich - having to call and accounting is sadly no longer a comedic journey!
God bless Richie and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are still with you.
May the saddest day of your future be no worse
Than the happiest day of your past.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Ricky (The Grand Pooh-Bah, Rickyasaurus, Ugly Team Tri-captain)
A tribute to you and Mike will commence in a month and a half. At this team meeting we will discuss the times we shared with you. Typical will be moments that you created another image for us to hold, not only of you but also of us.
You helped define us. Hanging from the trees at the Sting during Harbor Fest shouting at terrified families "Don't feed the animals" at the top of our lungs. You would always bust everybody's chops about something but then self depreciate. You were never mean spirited.
The times we shared will always be treasured. As you know the Team builds on our old times with each new Game. Unfortunately now we must retire two jerseys and that my brother is difficult. Yea the roster has changed and positions have been filled differently many times but we have never lost a player. We will go on and have a cold one for you and Mike before, during, and after each Game.
With great love and admiration Tom T. Tackleberry.

The annual ugly team pilgrimage to Batavia has come and gone and you were sorely missed. We taped a memorial to you on what would have been yur seat at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Richie Boy,
It’s too sad that I wouldn’t have you to clown around about playing real Football (Soccer) anymore. None will I have anyone to mock about baseball. Boy, I heard someone say the Yankees made it to the World Series and the Gaints are doing great too. You brought so much laugher and joy to all the crew in accounting at CLS.
Will miss you --- Richie Boy, The Rich Man…
May the Almighty Lord Shower His Merciful blessings on you.

I never knew you, and it is my loss and many others that didn't.We are all very proud of you, and you'll be greatly missed. I read in a message board from your cousin about you being there and missing. I siged that message board and said I'd wear a braclet with your name on it till you were found. Was really hopeing it would have turned out the other way. God bles you Richie, and your family. You will never be forgotten.

Ricky,
For almost a year now, everytime I hear "Midnight Train to Georgia" I'm brought back to the night last November that my friend Susan & I dragged you & Barry to that Karaoke/Sushi bar. You SO did not want to be there, but naturally you brought your usual happy self along and managed to have a good time anyway. Well, you didn't break down and do a song for us, but at least you let Susan and I ham it up for awhile.
Like Gladys Knight & the Pips said all those years ago, "I'd rather live in his world than live without him in mine..."
We miss you!!!

Dear Ricky,
Even though we did not hang out together often, you brought me closer to my brother by knowing him through his great friends and always made me laugh. I am so sorry we won't be hanging out downtown again or in Montawk.
God has a great angel and I was lucky to have known you!!!

Hey, Ricky - As Griz has called out to you so often...You are already missed so much. Jim is waiting to come pick you up at the airport to come to Buffalo & hear you complain about the trip the entire way to Batavia. We can't believe you won't be physically here for Bills/Indy game. The Ugly Team will have many beers in honor of you & Mike as we sit around the campfire remembering times with you both! I know that if it rains, that it is you laughing yourself to tears, which you have done to so many of us.
You have touched so many lives in your short time with all of us. You are missed so very much & will never be forgotten!
And I am going to go rent Manikin II to see what you have been talking about all these years. Because "It is such a great movie!"
Jack continues to pray for Little Ricky each night!
Love you!

You're sorely missed amigo as we areleft carrying the great memories of you with us. I'll never forget the "oooahing" on our camping trips, the "oh my gawd, that was hideous" on the golf outings, the movie reviews, and all the little classic funny moments we always had no matter where our travels took us. Thanks for your laughter Ricky,I guess it was time we had to give the gift back.

Ricky, you are one of the funniest people I ever met. You provided me with countless laughs and great times. I'll miss talking to you about the Giants. Thinking about how you used to highlight the TV Guide while chewing your "Skoal" (on E. 13th) makes me smile. Although you are gone, you will always be the Life of the Party. I miss you, friend.
