Though many years have gone by, my memories of Cheryl in Saint Mary's grammar school and Regional 7 High school fondly remain. Cheryl always one of the brightest kindest most friendly beautiful people anyone could ever be blessed to know. Surely her captivating personality and illuminating smile will forever overshadow the unfortunate events of 9/11. Though my residency in Arizona prevented my attending her memorial she has always been in my thoughts and prayers especially on this 21st anniversary upon my finding of this site. God Bless Cheryl, her family, friends, and everyone who holds near to their heart the loss realized for such a beautiful soul.

Cheryl and her family and friends,
It's hard to believe 20 years have passed since that fateful day. I continue to pray that God would show us mercy and love and give us hope and understanding. My memories of Cheryl from grammar school are still strong and I very much wish she was still with us all.

A lovely woman.
Always had a kind smile and greeting for everyone.
She lived in my small town, and was a year older than me. She rode on my bus & in highschool I had a few classes with her. Very intelligent and personable! Her Mom & Dad were also upstanding, kind, and loving Neighbors, and excellent parents! I remember the church service. I stood in the back because there was standing room only, as a matter of fact I think some people couldn't even get in there because there were so many to honor her that loved her. It was very touching to hear her co-workers speak about her.
She is a great loss to the world.
There is a bench I use to sit on very often in her memory, in the New Hartford Recreational Park.
I think of her and her family, amongst others, when I am visiting my Father's grave, where he shares the same Cemetery. Rest in Peace beloved Cheryl Ann Monyak, Love, Lisa J. Warner. Peace be with us all.. Amen..

I rode on America's 911 Memorial Ride (final ride this year for 15th Anniversary) for Cheryl. I did not know her before. I did the ride for all. But then I read about her. My ride became personal. I believe I know something about her. I am proud to have ridden for her and to keep her memory alive. Thank you Cheryl for your bright light in the lives you touched.
God Bless.

I always think of Cheryl on 9/11. I worked with her at Universal and when I wanted to take a break I would go to her office. She was so bubbly and friendly. I loved her little car. I think it was a yellow bug! RIP my friend

Even though I never had the opportunity to meet Cheryl in person, only through many phone conversations regarding insurance matters for our films, I will always remember her as a very warm, helpful, knowledgeable and fun young lady. I was shocked when I learned of her demise. I think of her often and my heart goes out to her family on this the 10th anniversary of 9/11. May she rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cheryl when she was a risk manager back in 1998. My favorite memory was chasing her down the hall of my office because she smelled so amazing! I have been wearing her perfume ever since. I think about Cheryl every morning when I put on my perfume...so she is always in my thoughts, daily. My prayers and best wishes to you her family.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Monyak,
Thank-you. Thank-you for making and shaping Cheryl into the person she became. She became my friend while working at Universal together. My first impression of her was WOW! She is so dynamic, smart, beautiful, vivacious and professional. When I got to know her, while laughing and sharing stories about our dating escapades, I learned that she is just as beautiful inside. I know that her love, compassion, and kindness must have started with her family and I thank you. She really touched me by being so real and funny and down to earth. I will always remember her and I will be praying for you today and everyday I see her face in my memories.

To the family of Cheryl Monyak, I met Cheryl when she lived in Manhattan Beach (at the beach). She was always happy and very friendly. I remember how clever she was at decorating her apartment and how organized she was with everything. I just want to express my deepest condolances to all of her family and close friends. To Cheryl’s family,
I got to know Cheryl in California in the Film Insurance industry. She was always very friendly and a lot of fun to be around. I have two pictures of her in my office. One is of a large table of ten of us taken from a RIMS conference in New Orleans. There are plenty of drinks on the table and everyone is smiling and obviously having a good time. The other picture was taken at the Sundance Film Festival. I had the pleasure of skiing with Cheryl on a few occasions. In the picture Cheryl, myself and another colleague are standing on top of Park City Mountain on a beautiful clear day. Both pictures capture some fun moments in her life and I am lucky to have them. Those in our industry who knew her will miss her.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Monyak & Family,
I, too, worked with Cheryl for several years at The Travelers back in the mid-80's. I only heard recently of her tragic death through the alumni magazine from UConn. While I haven't had contact with her for a number of years, my memories of her are vivid. We went through an intensive training program together at The Travelers, and she was the person who always kept us laughing, who continually reminded us to keep things in perspective, and who regularly refreshed our memories about the joys of shopping! She and I used to use the same bank in Hartford, and we "enjoyed" a regular, biweekly, lunchtime pilgrimage to the bank to stand in the LONG line to deposit our paychecks. She would often have all of the people around us in line laughing! I will always remember her warm and generous smile, her infectious laugh, and her joyful spirit. I have no doubt that she touched many lives over the years the way she touched mine. My heart goes out to you.

Dear Mr and Mrs Monyak and Family,
I worked with Cheryl many years ago at Travelers here in Hartford, CT. I liked her so much, I fixed her up with my brother-in-law. They dated until she moved to California. I remember her wide eyes, great smile, beautiful spirit and love for life. It did not surprise me that she wanted to move to CA and leave Hartford to have an active life. We bumped into each other several years ago - we were both on a busines trip. She was still smiling and looked so happy. I am sure she lived her life to the fullest. It is so tragic that it ended so soon and in this horrible way. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you this holiday season, now and forever. Cheryl's spirit lives in all the lives she touched.

We are very sorry for your loss of Cheryl. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Almighty and Ever-Loving God, in You we place our trust and hope. Violence and cruelty can have no part with You. You guide everything with wisdom and love. Hear the prayers we offer for those who lost their lives in the attack on America.
May Your love and the peace of our lord Jesus Christ bless and console us and gently wipe the tears from our eyes and remove the fear from our hearts.
Look also with favor on the families and friends who mourn the victims and comfort them in their loss. Console them in the hope that all who trust in You will find peace and rest in Your Eternal Kingdom. Bless them with Your presence and surround us all with Your love.
Guide those in authority, O Lord. By the wisdom of our leaders and integrity of our citizens may harmony be restored and justice be served. Allow our leaders to strive in this time of despair for what is right and just.
Calm this terror that threatens us. Grant that peace, the fruit of justice and charity, may reign in America and throughout the world.
Amen.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Monyak: I also worked with Cheryl at Universal. I don't know if a major star realizes that the reason the Costume Department wasn't allowed to put a nicer, more colorful cover over the real life jacket the actress wore while rafting down a real river was because Cheryl battled everyone so the life jacket could really save a life. It was good insurance and made sense. This was just a little part of one day but she effected lots of people when she took care of business and effected lots of people by being so teriffic all the time.
She will be missed.

Dear Mr.& Mrs. Monyak & Family,
I will always remember Cheryl in our little painting class we had here at Universal during lunch each week. Her laughter as well as her serious appreciation for the form and colors she was painting gave everyone a special glow. She was a good friend we'll always carry in our hearts.
In loving memory for always.

To Mr. and Mrs. Monyak:
Cheryl and I were in grammar school together at St. Mary's. All of my life, when appropriate, I've mentioned how I had a 'girl-friend' in 4th grade and how I took her to the annual fireman's carnival. That girl was Cheryl and though I haven't seen her since those years in the 60s, I remember her smile, her blond hair, and warm laugh. My sympathy goes out to all her friends, her brother, and her parents. Clearly, the reach into our collective family was cut deep by the horrendous acts of September 11, 2001.

Dear Mr.& Mrs. Monyak & Family,
Words can't express how saddened I am over the loss of Cheryl. I worked with Cheryl at Universal Studios for several years and she was one of the most lovely people anyone would want to know. She would brighten up any room with her presence. Her laughter and sense of humor were wonderful and she was a joy to be around. Please know that she was loved by many and she will never be forgotten. Cheryl and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
May God bless and help you through these difficult times.
Sincerely,
