September 23, 2023
I would like the family members to know that Michael has never been forgotten. I took a random picture of a name at the Word Trade Center memorial when traveling and it ended up being Michael A. Marti. I think about him and understand why life is so precious and try to live my life every day with love and understand it´s beautiful opportunity. I would like the family to know he has never been forgotten. He will always be in my thoughts.

Michael,
We think of you often in our daily lives. Last week my granddaughter graduated ( moving up ) from Sacred Heart. SH is where you went to school. I thought of you immediately. You made the world a better place. You were always able to direct Bobby and Kurt in the right direction. You were a good son, a good friend and we are all missing out on you our special friend. Please know that you are loved. I hope Tony and you met up and are shooting hoops and sharing a beer.

Michael and family- I did not know you, but I feel like I have known you for 16 years now. I have prayed for you and your family every year. Since 2002 I have had a flag from a remembrance service in Pittsburgh, PA that honored and remembered those who died in the 9/11 attacks. My flag had Michael's name on it as can be seen in the picture in its current condition. I have had it since I was 19 years old.
I am so glad that I found this Obituary that shows Michael's picture and that I got to learn more about what a great person, family member, and friend he was to others.
God Bless you and your family. We will always pray for you and remember you.

Mike...It's been 2 years...and you are still in my thoughts..and will be forever. I talk to Shane as often as possible and we still reminisce about when you, Jen, Shane and myself met you that summer at Paddy's.
While at work today, I let it be known that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I know that you don't know what I do for work now, but I work in radio (i'm on the air) so I closed my show by telling all of Long Island that we all miss you. I attended your street naming with Jen and got the opportunity to meet your parents. My thoughts and prayers are with them everyday. I have your picture hanging up on my mirror and look at it everyday and just hope that you are in a happier place.
I know you are looking down and you know just how we all feel...we miss you alot!

I've known Michael since he first moved on our block when he was 7 or 8 years old. He was always smiling and very vivacious. I remember him playing ball with the neighbors and I remember how much he was adored by his parents. The Marti family was always very close. As Michael grew up, I only saw him on the weekends when he was waxing his car. They were so proud of him and rightfully so. I am happy that they will be adding Michael's name to the 79th Street street sign. The only thing I can say to Rosalie and Roger is that you will all be together again, this time in a better place, where there is peace always.......

I am in disbelief that I only found out during memorial services earlier this month that Michael was taken from us. Though I haven't seen him or others from Sacred Heart in forever, memories are still fresh in my mind. He was so full of laughter and fun, I am sure he grew up into a wonderful man! To his family, you are in my thoughts and prayers-your son left an impression with all he met-he will be missed!!

I know that Mike is up in heaven, dancing and surronded by beautiful girls. I met him at Paddy McGee's, when he admired the funny face I made at another girl. I will always remember his beautifully contagious smile, strong arms, and his unique style of dance. We went to Ocean City and danced the Labor Day weekend in oblivion. He was always so sweet to me and made me feel special and protected. I will never forget the soiree in the Hamptons, when Mike and I realized that old, filthy rich people were as fun as we were. Or the Halloween party we attended as an Escaped Convict and Catholic School Barbie. I keep the plastic animals that garnished our margaritas. I still hear his voice on the phone: "Hey love, I'll be over in a 1/2 hour." Then he would always get to my house 20 minutes late. It was perfect, because I was almost finished getting ready by then. :) I visited Ground zero for the first time yesterday. The sound system was terrible and the wind was howling. But through all that noise and chaos, Mike made sure I heard his name announced. It's typical Mike style to always stand out in the crowd. I thank God that I met Mike Marti, and we were able to share such memorable times together in this life. I only hope we can have as much fun the next time we meet. Mike, you are in my heart always. Thanks for just being you.

I met Mike when he was fresh out of college and sat next to my late husband Steve at Cantor Fitzgerald. Some days I spoke to him more than to my husband because Mike always had to answer the phone!
I remember him as an outstanding young man with so much promise but most of all, I cherish his visit to our home when he was so down-to-earth and sincerely interested in my young children. It's a quality one doesn't experience too often in 20-something men.
Mike, I am so glad I had the honor of knowing you. I wish your family peace.

I did not know Michael Marti. But the most moving memorial I saw when I went home to NYC in October was the one left by his parents on the "Teddy Bear Wall" on the west side of the WTC site. It read: "MICHAEL MARTI YOU ARE THE BEST SON IN THE WORLD LOVE MOMMY AND DADDY XXXXXOOOOO" In black magic marker, on plain white paper, taped with duct tape to the gray granite wall, I will never forget it. This simple piece of paper, so filled with love, brought me to my knees in tears. I keep a picture I took of this memorial by my desk to remind myself every day to pray for the families of those lost.

It was so hard to hear the first time (and I'll never forget it) within days after the tragedy that Michael was among the missing...but missing is far from where he has been in my mind and heart.
I remember being at his memorial service (at Sacred Heart where we went to grammar school together), and everything that his friends were saying about his laugh (I could hear it) and his personality, that even to this day I can still remember.
Although we were friends in grammar school and went our separate ways after, Michael was a great pal to have when growing up...even to little 'ole me, Timmy!
I'll never forget him. In going through some of my things after moving from Queens to Manhattan recently, I came across a picture of him and a bunch of us at his 10th. or 11th. birthday party. The picture is now on my refrigerator.
I'm sure he's watching over us all and smiling.
March 12, 2002
I know this is the hardest thing that we all have to go through but maybe if you read this little poem I found it can bring you a small fraction of comfort because we have to remember our loved ones are with us...
~I'M THERE INSIDE YOUR HEART~
~Right now I'm in a different Place...
And though we seem apart...
I'm closer then I ever was...
I'm There Inside Your Heart...
~I'm with you when you greet each day...
And while the sun shines bright...
I'm there to share the sunsets, too...
I'm with you every night...
~I'm with you when the times are good..
To share a laugh or two...
And if a tear should start to fall...
I'll still be there for you...
~And when that day arrives...
That we no longer are apart,
I'll smile and hold you close to me...

More and more I think of Mike everyday. I have his picture hanging in my office and think what could have been. Mike was the guy who taught everyone how to have fun and at an early age he did that for me. What his friends will never forget is how he just made everything better. Whether it was work, going out, or a game of basketball, Mike was full of life and he gave himself to everyone. It's hard to imagine a life without Mike, but for the last six months it has been a cruel reality. We miss him and we will always have him in our hearts. But Mike would have never wanted his friends and family to mourn for him, so every time I go out it it becomes a tribute to Mike. Constantly I find myself saying "what would Marti do in this situation" and of course it comes to me. Every drink is a toast to Mike Marti, just a little something we can do to carry on the memory and his life. Thank You Mike. RIP my friend. We will never forget you.

Mike.....
I will never forget the first day Jen and I met you at Paddy McGees...and the way you were dancing made us dub you "sprockets" like SNL. You were such a sweetheart...I know you dated Jen for awhile and you treated her with the utmost respect. I'll never forget the time you came to pick us up in your favorite red car (i can still hear the engine) and you took us to Brooklyn. The last times I remember seeing you was once at Blue Tequila with your boys, and then this past summer when you came to the club I was bartending at. One thing I can say about you is that I will NEVER forget your radient smile. No matter when I saw you, tha smile that eminated from your face is a picture I will never forget! As I sit back and think about you, I pray that no matter what, you always keep that smile lasting forever! I know that you touched the hearts and lives of everyone who's crossed your path...and until that day when we all meet with you again, I know that the first thing anyone will see is that smile! Mike, you will truly be missed, but you will NEVER be forgotten!
To Mike's Parents & Family...

Dear Michael,
There is a place in my heart,
With your name etched deep
A Sweet special place
Where my memories I keep.
I lock it up tightly
At the end of each day
Hold them securely
And put them away.
Each morning I awaken
To open it once more,
And find them all safe
With room for still more!
If I love to one hundred
Each day may I find
At least one new Memory
And none left behind.
With Love,
A.

What a warm reflection of Michael's heart when reading of how he cared for others. Such a heart will be missed by the world. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Michael. May his caring attitude, his life and love live on in others who love him. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where this is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the family of my friend and classmate, Michael. I will always remember the kindness in his disarming grin.
