Kevin, it’s been 20 years since that tragic day. So hard to believe. I think about how my life has changed from small kids and babies to grown adults and college kids. I think how unfair it was that you didn’t get to live your life. But over the years I try to focus on the hero you are. The lives you have touched and angel that watches over us. We still miss you we love you. And we honor your memory on 9-11 and every day. The family has gone on but that gaping hole will never be filled!! Miss you cuz!❤

ts not that I don't ever think about 9-11, but every year whether I start watching some documentary on 9-11, or read the letters written on Kevin's 9-11 page or watch the names being read I sit and think about that horrible day, I have a really good cry. I can't tell you things I did 3 days ago, but I remember every conversation from that morning, afternoon and that night. I remember calling Doreen's Mom to see if they had heard from Kevin. She said " No, and Doreen is up in her room screaming because she knows that Kevin is gone, She knows because if he was alive he would find some way to call and let her know he was ok." I remember Jennifer DiSarlo Joyce and I trying to console Doreen, not knowing the right thing to say. I remember the weeks after that the one thing that put a smile on Paul & my face was my daughter, who was only 6 months old.
I think of Kevin often, think about how things would be different if 9-11 happened. There is not a time that Kevin's name does not come up when I talk or see Doreen & Eddie. He is a part of there life without a doubt. I know he is watching over them.
Every 9-11, I think of the way I feel about losing Kevin as a friend, and also cry for those that lost a family member whether it was a sibling, a parent, a child, & in my friend Doreen's case a fiancee because I can't imagine how they feel on daily basis for the past 13 years.

I went to Trinity with Kevin, and have fond memories of him and Eddie. I live in California now, but have thought of Kevin and his sacrifice often over the years. I unexpectedly came across a beautiful memorial today at a local fire house in the Bay Area, and was touched to find a flag honoring Kevin. It was heartwarming to see that his picture and personal story were being shared with people 3,000 miles away and 12 years later. I hope this tribute brings comfort to his family and loved ones.

Please continue to be my guardian angel. We love you.

To the family, friends and coworkers of Kevin Prior, I just wanted you to know that those of us in the fire service will never forget his sacrifice. When I saw the picture of his helmet that was to be included in the 911 memorial and saw the quote ....honor me, with laughter, I had to learn more about Kevin. I feel I can speak for my fire department in saying that the words ...honor me, with laughter really struck a chord. I have a FDNY 343 memorial in my office. I recently included a copy of Kevin's Squad 252 badge 3918 helmet to that memorial. Bless you for giving the Firefighters of America such a Hero. I hope it is OK with your family and coworkers to honor Kevin and to make sure our current and future Firefighters "never forget" the sacrifice made on 9-11. My copy of Kevin's 252 helmet is displayed with a FDNY 343 helmet below our department's wall shield.

Hello My name is Jason and I recently took part in a 9/11 memorial stair climb on July 14th in Greenbay Wisconsin. This climb is in remembrance of the 343 that died that tragic day. After registration I was given Kevin's name on an ID card along with his Squad which was carried with me as I climbed to the end. I am a fire fighter on 3 of the local departments and have the same love for the job as Kevin did. I can't imagine what he and the others went through that day, but I wanted to say They will NEVER Be Forgotten!

Hey its Eddie and Dor and we are writting this at exactly 10:28am the exact time that the north tower fell and changed our lives forever. We went to ground zero on Sunday and it was so surreal to stand in the very spot where your life was so quickly and tragically taken away from us. Thank you for giving me Dor, I will take care of her till the day I die. We love you and are forever thankful to you for bringing us together to take care of one another and keep your memory alive forever. You will always be a huge part of our lives...you are in our hearts and on our minds on a daily basis. Please continue to watch over us as our guardian angel each and every day. We love you Kev. XOXO

It is so hard to believe that it has been 11 years. I remember the events of that day, like they were yesterday. I will never forget calling Doreen's Mom after Doreen didn't answer her phone. Mrs. Noone said Doreen was up in her room just screaming, crying because she knew you were gone, you would have called if you were ok. Those days after were horrible for everyone who loved you.
I so often think about how things would be now, if this horrible event did not happen. What memories the four of us would have created together. You left too soon..
I am sure you are smiling down at the way Doreen and Eddie include you in their life together. I am thankful that they have each other, because they both lost a best friend that day! Rest in Peace Kevin..one day we will all party together again.

It will soon be 10 years without you. Your absence at family events has been felt by all your family. There have been many special occasions that have occurred where you have been missed by all your family members. Most of all the pain of losing you is felt by your parents on a daily basis. There is always that empty seat around the dinner table. Keep looking after the family you left behind especially your mom and dad. We will always remember you as a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin.

To the family and friends of Kevin,
Every year in Denver, Colorado area firefighters remember our fallen brothers and sisters of 9/11 by holding a memorial stairclimb. We pack up and climb our highest building (55 stories) twice; and we carry a photo of one of the 343 lost that day. I was honored this year to take Kevin with me on my climb. Please know, across this country, he is remembered.

I see your face and hear your voice whispering to me every day - you are what gives me my strength to live each day. The old saying that time heals all wounds is not very true - time only reminds you of how long your loved one has not been a constant presence in your life - we will NEVER forget you and the HUGE role you played in our lives- there is not one day that goes by that you are not in our thoughts and prayers - there will ALWAYS be a special place reserved just for you in our hearts. We love you and miss you tremendously - please continue to be our guardian angel and continue to send us signs that you are right here with us. We love you so much.

Although it’s been five years since 9/11 sometimes it feels as though it were yesterday. On that day the Prior family lost a piece of their heart and soul, Kevin. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, a godfather, a nephew, a cousin and a friend to many. He was very much the life of the party and would light up a room with his smile and enthusiasm. He loved being a fireman and tragically for us (his family and friends) gave his life on 9/11. He will forever be missed at our family birthdays and celebrations and there will always be an empty seat along with the empty space in our hearts. The loss of a family member is always so difficult because their place in the family can never be replaced. My husband and I lost a beloved nephew and my son lost a cousin, a mentor, a friend. Kevin will live on forever in our hearts and memories.

Happy Anniversary in Heaven Kevin. Although I knew that this website existed and that many people wrote such loving things, I myself was not ready to read or write on this website for a very long time. The tremendous amounts of cards and letters that I received after this tragic event attempted to sustain me for awhile but now as more time passes many people forget about the loved ones that are still grieving, no matter how much time has passed. Today would have been our four year wedding anniversary. Even though our wedding on July 12th 2002 never got to take place, I still hold this day as our anniversary and I always will. Time does not make the pain in my heart hurt any less nor does it make it any easier to forget about you and the love that we shared. You will always be in my heart and on my mind and I will love you forever. I look forward to the day when I am greeted by you in heaven but until then I know that I have my very own guardian angel. Please continue to watch over me and always be near me..pleae don't ever go too far because I need to feel your presence around me always. I love you.
Eternally yours, Dor

About four years ago or so, I was watching an Oprah (I believe) episode about 9/11 and because I lost someone I cared about deeply, along with knowing many others who perished that day, my eyes were glued to the show. I don't remember the specifics, but Kevin Prior's name and story were one of the features on that show. It has been at least four years since I have seen that show and since then, I have added Kevin to my daily prayers, along with the 15 others I knew who died on 9/11. Just today, after saying my morning ritual prayers, and including Kevin in them, I decided to go on to legacy.com to see this man I have been praying for and have never laid eyes on....handsome, young face. I imagine he is missed by so many and hope his fiance, that I just read about in this guest book, is doing okay. May God bless Kevin, his fellow brothers and all those who lost their lives that day.

I met Kevin in 1994 in the Police Academy. He was the funniest guy in the room. After he rolled over to FD, I ran into him alot at 252 in Brooklyn. Kevin was just an all around great guy, and he will be missed.

My husband called us all together saying he had an early Christmas gift for us. When my daughters and I opened the boxes we found 5 braclets with the names of five victims of 9-11-01 on them. We all were touched first by the gift and second by the remembering of the tragedy. My braclet was enscribed with Kevin's name. I am a kndergarten teacher in south Georgia--far removed from most things. This I can truely say is not one of them. This braclet will keep Kevin's picture on my mind and his thoughts of him--what he could have done--will always be with me.
He will be remembered.

Dear Kevin,
When talking about old times from Trinity, there isn't one story that doesn't include your name. What a time we all had. I only wish we could have all been together one last time at the reunion, but I'm glad you were able to take the trip to Ireland with Doreen. I'm so proud of the man you came to be and I know you wouldn't have thought twice about doing what you did. You will forever be in our hearts and thoughts. We lost one great friend on 9/11 but heaven has gained one amazing soul. We will forever miss you.

Sept 11th was a horrible day in my life. I lost a cousin and a friend names Kevin. I worked with Kevin for a few years at Mc Cluskies Steak House in Bellmore about 10 years ago. He was a great guy and always made me laugh. As soon as it happend, I thought of him and all my friends that work as fireman and volenteers. I just wanted to show my gratitude and highest repect to Kevin and his family, for the heroism that he has shown thoughout his life. I will never forget him and never forget that day. I also have a cousin who made it out of the building, thanks to Kevin and all the brave people of New York City. I will always keep a place in my heart for my friend Kevin Prior and may his spirit and kindness live on in all of us.
Thank you Kevin
Your friend,

Kevin was a close family friend of mine. Although I hadn't seen him in many years, he was the first person I thought of that horrific day. I knew he would be there. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and friends of any firefighter lost in this tragedy and especially to Marian, Jerry, Gerard, Dennis & Doren.
