Edna Cintron Obituary
For Edna Cintron and her husband, William, every evening fit into a comforting routine. "She had everything prompt, clean, neat, organized," Mr. Cintron, a 44-year- old doorman, said of his 46-year-old wife, an administrative assistant for Marsh & McLennan. "She would come out of work, come home, cook, make sure that when I would come out of work there was food on the table and everything. And every night we would have ice cream and we would watch TV."
That simple routine in their home in East Elmhurst, Queens, was remarkable, Mr. Cintron said, because they each had been homeless, and in their 12 years of marriage they had struggled with his alcoholism. "We started from the bottom," he said, "and we worked our way all the way up to the top," even opening a florist business, Sweet William's, in East Harlem.
Mr. Cintron said that his wife had given him the courage to go to detox and that last January he celebrated 12 years of sobriety. "She made sure that she kept me in check," he said. "She made sure that I did the things I was supposed to do. She was a very, very strong woman because she would put her foot down.
"She was more like a mother to me. She would make sure that I would eat right and she would make sure that no one would manipulate me. So she was also my backbone. She made me strong. She made me who I am today."

I am now coming to terms with this tragic loss I lost 3 Friends that day which had scared me deeply but I had meet Edna over the phone and in person a year earlier at her Sweet Williams Florist Shop before 9/11. My 2nd cousin Ramon Nazario, was tragically murdered in a Wendy Restaurant in Flushing Main St in Queens, NY and I couldn´t find a decent flower shop or location to purchase flowers so I ended up calling several shops in around Queens and Manhattan but the flowers was extremely expensive but when I contacted Sweet Williams Flower Shop in East Harlem Edna happened to answer being I´m very personal and kept person I kept it professional I asked for the prices Edna made me a great offer I could not decline and provided me with a sympathy flower arrangements for funeral viewing. She was most sympathetic, in my mind but loving and kind individual. She will be forever missed and thought about as I certainly never forgotten her. May Edna Cintron Rest in Peace and my condolences to her husband and family. Amen.

I used to work for Marsh & Maclennan in Aberdeen as a secretary administrator. It hits home that a colleague all the way in New York just going to work as normal like I did, would end up in such a horrible situation. My heart went out to Edna and her family. As the years have passed I do not think the horror of watching the events on tv in Aberdeen will ever be forgotten. All these brave souls should never ever be forgotten. I am not religious but I hope they are all in a beautiful place safe and happy. Love from a colleague in Aberdeen.

I didn't see the live footage on the day of 9/11 as I was working as a Hackney cab driver in Liverpool UK. I didn't have a computer or really find out about it for some years after when I saw the heartbreaking footage of Edna Cintron. She has remained in my heart all these years and I looked her up again today and read her husband's glowing tribute to a brave lady. We don't need to meet to feel a connection to other people and I suppose that there are many of us who feel a connection to Edna. God bless her and I pray that she rests in peace.

I'm watching the annual 9/11 memorial as I type this, crying my eyes out as the family members read the names of the innocent lives lost that day. I cannot even begin to imagine what you went through that day, and how frightened you must have been. My heart goes out to your loved ones on this sad anniversary. I visited the tower foot prints for the first time yesterday. I have traveled to New York from Chicago many times but just never found the time to go.
I snapped a picture of the beautiful memorial to show my family at home and Edna's name (one and only name) shows up in the pic. I looked at the pic several times and my eyes kept moving to her name. While I felt so somber walking around reading the other names and remebering that terrible day, It especially moved me when I finally looked Edna up to see who she was. It seems she was an incredible women and I hope Mr Cintron is doing as well as he can be these days.

Edna - I have watched the videotapes of you standing there - waving for help. With helicopters flying by, I can't imagine your pain, fear and frustration. Why didn't we have plans for rescues of tall buildings from fires on upper floors? You were so brave, looking so tiny on the backdrop of that flaming hole. We were praying for you that someone, anyone, could get you safe and keep you free from harm. I didn't know you, but feel as though you represent millions of people who were right here with you. Trust me... if I would have had some kind of supernatural powers or something similiar, I would have been there to rescue and protect all of those people on that dark and dreadful day, but only God has that kind of power and I believe instead had chose to give them a special place to go on that day.
Edna had showed a great deal of courage and bravery and now has a very special place up in heaven called her home.

Yesterday, 10 years after, as some kind of remembrance I started to search on the net for vids concerning 9/11. Thats how I found Edna, the waving woman. It's strange, she lived on the other side of the world, 10 years ago, but I feel a close bond with her. Rest in peace Edna, I will remember you.

It has been many years since that tragic day so many innocent people lost their lives, and I will never ever forget it or what I was doing that morning when I heard ABC news reporting it, I was getting ready for work myself that day....
Today I came across a video of a woman standing in a hole of the twin towers and that woman was you, Edna Cintron. I then found your name in a search and had to read about you because viewing that video made my heart feel such a pain and sorrow I wanted to reach out to you and tell you, I'm so sorry Edna and no words could ever bring you back here to all your family who love you so much. I love you Edna and when my time to leave this earth arrives I rejoice to see you in the Heavens with our Lord!

Loving Edna, I remember the times we worked together. The times we laughed and joked in the office. You was a bright and loving individual. A woman with so much courage, diginity and self-respect. There was so much to look back in our times working together, I would never forget the good times. I also remember you talking about William so much, how much of a great man he was. Edna, I had recently viewed some 911 videos and I notices one of those videos had reconized you as the "Original Waving Women", but I reconized you as a courageous women on that dark day. I felt so very bad about the outcome that I was compelled to learn more about you and found an article about you as being a strong and very caring family women who also loved angels. Well Edna...
