Charles,
I worked with you in Montvale NJ maybe 20 yrs ago (Ingersoll-Rand). You were always very kind to me and brought me coffee from the vending machine, since I was the receptionist and couldn't leave my desk. You also used to let me practice my French with you. All these years later, I still remember you. God Bless you. I'll see you when my time comes. Love, Marilynn vanOphuijsen.

You were very kind to me in the 1960s, Charles, and I remember well your sadness over the death of your sister, Nancy, in childbirth. I hope you have been able to re-connect with her on the other side of life. Your death is a loss to your family and friends, and to the world.

We did not know you, but were compelled to look up your name as we honored the fallen from that day at a San Francisco Giants game and were handed a placard with your name. Your smile looks like it lit up a room and I am truly sorry for your family and fiancee's loss. Rest in peace. We will not forget you.

Charles,
You and I worked at the World Trade Center in the late 1970's when we were with Andersen Consulting. I have read the other tributes - you were always the same, smiling person in everyone's memory, distant or near. I was so sad when I heard of your passing just a few months ago. Someday, we'll meet again in heaven. May God's peace be on your family and Renee.

I met Charles at Hostos Community College. He was always a perfect gentleman and very professional. Rene Alexander and I became very close during our years at Hostos. I mourn her loss. Rene told me that there is no amount of compensation that will make up for losing Charles and I feel for her. God Bless you Rene. Know that Charles is well because he's with God.

I knew Charles from Hostos Community College during the years 1996-1998. We worked together on a number of grant projects for the Office of Academic Affairs. He was a man with a fine mind which excelled at problem-solving. He was also nattily dressed every work day. And as others have noted, Charles had a particular gift with his bright, big smile and his ability to remember almost every detail of any previous discussion. It is sad that I heard about him again through his loss on Sept. 11. It's a lesson to us all: stay in touch. May God grant you peace, Charles.

I met Charles when he and my husband (Fred Taylor)were students at Columbia University. As everyone else has stated, I will always remember his smile and genuine graciousness.
Our hearts were broken when we received the news of the tragedy, and pray that God gives his friends and family the wisdom and strength to carry on.

I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing Charles Lesperance on August 18, just one month before 9/11 at the celebration of his Sister's Birthday. His smile, his handsome face and his charm formed this magical aura around him. "He loved his family and expressed his love on that special evening. It is said that when u smile the whole world smiles with you." I am sure Angels are smiling with Charles as he hums a tune from the opera "Tosca." May he find peace in the arms of Jesus.

Charles and I were classmates at NYU and Columbia GSB. I last saw him at GSB's class reunion in 1998. He was the same old Charles, laughing, joking and enjoying life. I have been really shaken by news of his death and extend my deepest sympathies to his loved ones.

Charles Lesperance was a student of mine in 1998 at Baruch College in an advanced law course. He was working on his second degree and was a serious student, cheerful and hard working. We had a number of conversations about his goals. He was a pleasure to have as student. I am sad and I grieve for his loss. To his friends and family, please accept my condolences. Joyce Barrett

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
