Earl Shanahan
While at Guy Carpenter, I worked under Earl Shanahan's supervision. It was my first secretarial job and I will always remember his soft spoken voice yet stern training. Guy Carpenter had a men and women's Softball team. We played in Central Park, where we shared a winning team interest. I left the firm but will never ever forget Earl Shanahan. Rest in Peace!

Thinking of Earl today. He was a great guy who was respected by everyone who worked with him at GC. I learned a great deal from him and we enjoyed many a lunch and golf game together. A real gentleman.

Today we again refelcted on the death of Earl. Even though we lost touch throughout the years he was close to our hearts. Your uncle Carl misses you.

As I cross-stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

We lived a few houses apart during our childhood. I still have photos of the day we started kindertarten together.(He went in with a big grin, I screamed until they had to take me home.) We were freinds for many years and I was a member of Earl's wedding party. After I moved away from NYC, we went our separate ways, but I never forgot Earl as a member of 'the old gang from 27th Avenue'. I never will forget him.

I had the privilege of playing in a golf foursome with Earl for two years. He was in my prayers the morning of 9/11 as my office is in the shadows of the WTC and I had a full view of the buildings. He is in my prayers today. A more grounded individual you will never meet, blessed with a great sense of humor. The world is truly a lesser place for his loss.

I will remember your family in our family prayers. When I saw the name on the memorial list, I just had to let you know that my heart is with you.My husband's family was from Tipperary County, Ireland and came to Maryland in 1848 during the potatoe family.

Dearest Mrs. Shanahan,
My deepest heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. May the memories and love in your hearts, always keep him close to you.
Although I never met your husband, I wear his name on a band bracelet and keep him in my thoughts.

To Earl's Family,
Earl and I used to have a smoke together from time to time outside the World Trade Center, and I used to tell him that I thought he looked like Abe Lincoln without the beard! He was a very pleasant man with an easy-going manner who made people feel comfortable in his presence. I will miss him and remember him always. May God bless you and give you the strength to cope with your loss.

Dear Mrs. Shanahan,
I knew Earl for many years. I have
worked for Guy Carpenter for 21 years. While I did not have the privilege of working with him, everyone that did agreed that he was
a wonderful person, very kind and
friendly, which was the way he always was to me. I cannot believe that he has left us, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers now and always, Love, Barbara

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
