Seems like yesterday the Saturday before that Tuesday we were working at NBC /General Electric at 30 Rock in the executive offices doing punchlist I was working for an architectural woodworking company he was working for the ceiling and wall contractor we´re both rushing to try to get out of the place Joe as he was rushing around like a madman trying to get out of there to get home . We both met in the bathroom and I asked Joe what are you going to work next week and he said the trade center windows of the world so cool I said I was going to be going to 9 W. 57th St. That day I was a coffee boy I came to the floor and the electrician said to me as he was looking out the window, a plane just hit the trade center we stood in or not believing what we saw before our eyes it was like watching a big big television set. From 57th St. downtown we had a clear view of the trade center I said I´m glad I´m not in that building and then realizing that Joe said that he would be working there. I remember he asked me G E at how to layout and attach the nule post for his second floor staircase at home I said I would install it for him, he said no that he wanted to do it that he needed some tips to do it right . That´s my last memory of Joe hard worker talked about his family all the time . Frank Zalewski Local 45

Dad,
I can't believe it's almost 21 years that you have been gone. There are so many times that I wish I had you to talk to. You were taken way to soon and I don't think there will ever be justice for your murder. I pray for the strength to keep fighting for what is right. I hope your at ease and until we meet again one day I'll forever be your little girl.

To the Mistrulli's,
I went to grade school with Joseph. So sorry to hear about Mr. Mistrulli as I knew him. He was always on our school trips as a chaprone and was kind and gentle man. I can't imagine the pain you all must feel. They say time heals all wounds and I hope that you all find peace and happiness in the days and years to come. God bless Joe and his family.

We saw your name at the memorial today. We stopped since it had part of our name in yours "Strull". Made us think how it could have happened to any of us. RIP

To Joe's Family,
My name is Donna Clavelli Martin, I am from upstate NY and vistied the WTc sight Jan 2001. I purchased a 9/11 braclet and was lucky enough to get Joe's name. When I returned to FL I tried to research his name and could not find anything. I prayed that he was a "regular Joe" as I come from blue collar workers and married a blue collar worker. If you are ever in need of anything please contact me at [email protected]. You and your family remain forever in my thoughts and prayers.

I was never blessed enough to know Joseph. I was given a candle with his name on it during a remembrance ceremony and researched this kind man on the internet. It seems that he was left quite a legacy of his handiwork in New York City. More importantly, he left a loving family. I am sorry for your loss. I wish you peace and keep you in my prayers.

Dear Phyllis and family:
As Joey's first cousin, I can't begin to tell you how sad I feel for his loss. Even though I have not seen you or him since Fran's funeral, I think of Joey often and have so many fond memories of our childhood together. He was always my favorite of the Mistrulli boy cousins. Our families took summer vacation together every year. I still can't believe this has happened to him. I wish you only the best. Reading these notes makes me realize that Joey touched so many others hearts as well. Also, I am so happy to hear I have some second cousins who loved their father and appreciated him. I hope someday I could meet them.
Love, Karen, Al, Robert and Andrew

I was best friends with Micheal Mistrulli, Joseph's brother & knew Joseph and his family well. I was shocked to hear that Joseph was one of the victims. I currently work at the WTC site and have been there since Sep. 12th 2001 & I'm constantly confronted with the memory of the devastation. Forever in our prayers Joe Raffa, wife Carol & children

At my school, we had many discussions about the events that happened one year ago. As part of remembering those that were lost, we all were offered the chance to wear a pin that displayed the name of one victim of the tradgedy that took place on 9/11. Over the course of the day, I was haunted by Mr. Mistrulli's name and I wanted to find out more about him. I am glad that I was able to learn about him and his life and I would like to try to extend some comfort to his family. He will be remembered.

Dear Mrs. Mistrulli,
Oh my, I have wondered about you every single day since I last saw you during the Christmas holidays of 2001. I'm one of the community affairs officers from the family center at Pier 94. Do you remember me? I have not forgotten you; I met many people at the pier, but none w/the fiesty spirit of my friend, Mrs. Mistrulli! I pray often & when I do, I never fail to ask God to speak peace into your heart. I never had the pleasure of meeting your Joseph, but from our conversations together, I know you two had a lifetime many couples would envy. If it serves as any measure of comfort, I just wanted you to know that although the rest of the world seems to be about business as usual, I have never let a day go by w/out thinking about you, hopeful that you are having a good day, just trying to be supportive in spirit, I suppose. You are a grand lady & I'm grateful for the opportunity to let you know that. I wish you well.
Sincerely,
(Police Officer) Donna Bryan

I have never had the privilege to be in New York. I do know when I get the chance to make it to New York I will visit the Russian Tea Room, Madame Tussaud or Niketown in honor of Joseph. He sounds like he was a very giving man. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Joseph. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
