Doreen Angrisani Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2001.
Inspired by Classic Rock
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin. When Doreen Angrisani was at her home in Ridgewood, Queens, the air vibrated with classic rock. In her opinion, there was nothing like a piercing Jimi Hendrix guitar riff to mellow the atmosphere in the house. Rock, said Gina Giovanniello, her sister, was not just party music; it was a "source of strength and inspiration."

By day, Ms. Angrisani, 44, was a finance manager for Marsh & McLennan. She began as a clerical worker and, over 23 years, rose to management. Her job was her job, but what really mattered to her were music, the Mets and Mike Piazza — and most of all, her family.

She lived with her sister and brother-in- law in the neighborhood they were raised in. She taught their two teenage children the beauties of great rock and contributed to her nephew's guitar lessons. "He actually knows who Led Zeppelin is," Mrs. Giovanniello said. "He must be the only 13-year-old who does."

Doreen- Today, the 20th anniversary of the most tragic day in history, I have shed a lot of tears for people I never knew and never met. My heart is heavy with grief, along with most of the world. I watched a documentary tonight about that fateful day, and saw footage of the aftermath and the days that followed.... I saw a poster your family put up, along with many others, looking for family members that were missing. I looked up your name... I wanted to know you; something more than just your name... I saw your beautiful picture and read about your love of classic rock music. I knew instantly, that had we ever met, we would have been fast friends. I pray for your family today, that they may have found peace in their most precious memories of you, and the knowledge that one day, they will see you again. I´m glad I took the time to find out a little more about you! God speed!

One of my teachers gave us a project to do for 9/11. She told us to choose a person and design a poster honoring them. I chose Doreen because I also share the love for classic rock and so do my parents. Doreen seemed like a great person and I'm deeply sorry for her family's loss.

September 12, 2012

I didn' know doreen, but when I saw her last name I became curious. My last name Augresani, my grandparents told me that when they arrived from Italy via Ellis Island, the officials misread the "N" as a "U" because of the poor handwritting. We also use two "e"'s instead of "I's. I am wondering if my name should be spelt like your's was. I will be thinking about you in my prayers.

September 11, 2012

Doreen, It's been 11 years since you are gone. Some say that it will get better in time, sometimes I think it gets worse. I've had 2 beautiful children, Gia and Nicholas, since that tragic day. They will never have a chance to meet you, be with you, laugh with you or just be loved by you. It is a great loss for them but they know about you and as they get older they will come to adore you and know what a beautiful person you are. I love you. I miss you. Always your brother, Ralph.

Here it is 7 yrs later, and still not one day has gone by that I don't think about "9/11" in some way. I've often thought about Doreen's family, but even more so today. Gina, if you read this, I want you to know that I've thought about calling or writing, but then I thought it might be too upsetting, so I decided not to. Just know that as with everyone else I knew, Doreen is in my thoughts very often.

I worked with Doreen at Marsh for a few years. She never had a bad thing to say about ANYBODY. I couldn't figure that out. NEVER. She was always kind and helpful to everyone.I feel so sorry for her loved ones losses. I remember Doreen was always refilling her coffee. I couldn't help wondering how she stayed so calm drinking all that coffee. She was a true gem in this world. She is deeply missed.

I did not know Doreen or anyone who died that terrible day. But I felt the loss this great nation suffered. I have been reading these incredible letters of love people have written. I would have liked Doreen as she liked the same music I did. We were of the same vintage.I have always wanted to visit New York and especially Queens. The day will come and I visit and I will think of Doreen and all that parished that day.I pray for her friends and family that are left behind and ask that God will give you strength to go on without her. She has touched my life thru her love of music and how she cared enough to share it with a nephew. God Bless our great nation and all that it stands for. Thank you for this opportunity to share my thoughts. Lyn

I worked in the cubicle on the other side of Doreen, for a couple of years when she worked for Johnson & Higgins. So we shared alot back then. I'm sorry we didn't stay close. We both had sisters,we talked alot about. I do know that she loved her sister Gina and her children so much. They were her life. She was so proud of them. She also loved the Mets coming from Queens. And of course Rock & Roll.I was looking at some old office pictures the other day, I think only one of Doreen she didn't like to have her picture taken. It was one I surprised her with. I kept somewhat upto date with how she was doing through another friend at the office. I was so happy for her that she exceeded so far with her career.

My condolences to her family. I wish that she would have decided

to change jobs like we both had talked about, she would say after she would be vested 10 years than 15 years, then she would still be with us. She was a great women with alot more to offer. But was taken too early she will be missed.

May Doreen's enjoyment of music, her life and love live on in all who love her. May warm memories lighten the sorrow in your hearts. May you always feel the gentleness of her love surround you. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Doreen. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

What a loss for this world...keep the music around you...in it you will hear Doreen. Fill your hearts with love and peace rather than hatred and anger...laughter will return and the seasons keep changing...and remember....as Harry Chaping says.."all my life's a circle...no clear cut beginnings and so far no dead ends"...Doreen lives on in the notes of the music...her soul resides there...even amidst the horror, beauty still exists...look for it..actively look for it so it will drive out the ugliness of September 11th..much love and peace to you in your darkest ours..our country is with you. Feel our power...
