Our Great Grand Fathers arrived in America not through Ellis Island but through Green Land and Canada. They settled in Wisconsin in 1935 in a farm here in Depere 10 miles from the city. Near Green Bay Wisconsin. There were 10 Brothers and sisters. One stayed in the farm and in that Farm my father Howard Thomas Corrigan was born. the other 9 brothers continued to New York, Boston , and other states and we lost track of them. I believe James Corrigan Is one of my Cousins from one of the Corrigan's who went to New York. Im terribly sorry for your loose and i will pray for your soul to go to heaven from purgatory.

Hello to the family of James J Corrigan, so so sorry for your loss :-(
Me and my husband went to New York 2019, when we went to pay our respects at the 9/11, I chose a random name to look up when I got home and I did, it was James J Corrigan, when we can go back to New York , hopefully next year, when the borders open again, I will be going again and I will place a rose near your name for you.
I hope your family does not mind, I am from the United Kingdom .
God Bless You and all on that very sad day, who lost their lives x x x

Dear family member of James j. Corrigan, my name is Kamryn and I am doing a research project about this amazing beloved man. I am very sorry for your loss, from what I have learned James was an amazing, heroic, beloved father. I know it may be to much to ask for but I would love to hear more stories of James and his loved ones. I would also be very grateful to know any type of personal information about James such as a nick name or favorite flower in this bright colorful garden, or any additional information you would like to share with me. Again I am so sorry for your loss and I hope what I have asked wont be to much. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear back.

Hi, my name is Hope Dwyer and I am in 8th grade. My school is doing a research project on firefighters that died in the tragedies of 9/11, and I received James Corrigan. I was wondering if anyone had any stories or memories of him that you would like to share. It would really help and I am so sorry for your loss. From what I have read, he seemed like an amazing man.

My name is Gina Campbell and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. Today, September 10, 2011, I ran a 9/11 Remembrance race in honor of all that passed on September 11, 2001. Each runner received a name to pin to their racing bib, and I was chosen to run in the memory of James. It was an honor to represent Mr. Corrigan, and I hope it brings joy to the people that knew him, that he has not been forgotten.

I left this on a tribute page but wanted to share it here also. As ten years approaches, he is still remembered. Love to you all, Ted
It was only a couple of days ago, visiting a professional site I hadn't been on in 10 years that I saw the name James Corrigan mentioned as a victim of 9/11. Being a retired fire officer from Brooklyn, I had gone thru the list of FDNY victims a number of times but hadn't gotten through all the others. Jimmy and I worked together in Flatbush for 5 years. We worked the same tours and spent a lot of time together. We both commuted a distance and joked regularly about the trips. We were a very close company and were especially known for spending a lot of time in a room we made in the basement of the fire house. When I got promoted, I lost contact with Jim but then started seeing him again when we both worked downtown NY. On the eve of its second anniversary, it's as fresh in my mind as it was watching that day. That Jim was in the thick of it comes as no surprise. The members of the "Pride of Flatbush" strived to make it the best of the bravest. I will miss you Jim, god bless and my prayers are with your wife and children.

Jimmy you were one of the nicest men I had the pleasure of working with in the 76 Pct back in the early 60's. I remember the time when we were rookies and were sent to St. Patricks as part of the Police presence for the Popes visit. When we were released after the Pope said Mass we both went back to the 76 Pct and changed and then made the mistake of walking out the front door in civilian clothes past Sgt Gerhing, a man who had no time for rookies like us. We both got called back to the Pct and I remember being read the riot act while standing at attention in front of the desk.I thought I was going to lose my job ! I went upstairs and then was leaving again and came upon you now standing at attention and receiving the same verbal dressing down that I had undergone a few minutes earlier.
You cant make this stuff up.That was about 45 years ago !
The next time I saw you was in the late 70's, you were a Captain in the NYFD and were getting off the rig on Synder ave in the fire house next to the police station.
It was an honor to have known you.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Jim,
Been going through some minor health problems, but would never miss getting to our WTC on 9/11.
Went to St. Pete's for noon Mass and you were, of course, in my prayers.
I must admit--- the terrorists broke my heart that day, but never my spirit.
I think of you every day. Our whole country should know of the talent and personality we lost that day as you were saving others.
I see we have another friend in your Guest Book praying for you at The Grotto at Notre Dame.
Can't make it this year, but I'll be there for the UCLA game in '06.
I'll never forget you.

Mr. Corrigan,
Not a day goes by that I don't think about that terrible and tragic day. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the sacrifice that you made when you saved the lives of all those people. I watched in horror from the 20th floor of my cousins apartment building, the World Trade Center crumble and fall apart and for me, the memory of that day will never fade. That memory serves me now as a constant reminder of my sworn obligation to defend our nation and her people and I wanted to say that I will continue proudly do so until justice is served to those responsible. I promise to you Mr Corrigan, I will not tire or quit until that is done.
I also wanted to say that I enjoyed very much, the time that I got to spend with you and your family at your home and I dont think I ever got to tell you how much I appreciated that. I wanted to say thanks. Thanks for letting me get to know you because I know today that I am a better man for it. Thanks for your friendship and hospitality. But most of all, thanks for your support. Thanks for supporting me in my decision to join the service. That was the right decision for me and I have never forgotten that conversation we had at your house that day. I guess this will just be my way of saying goodbye. So goodbye my good friend and rest easy because God watches over your family. I'll catch up with you one day again soon.

Jim,
You are in our thoughts and prayers on All Souls Day and on each and every other day.
A prayer was said for you on September 11. 2003 when the young girl announced your name at the WTC Memorial Service.
You were in my prayers to St. Bridget at St. Patrick's Cathedral during my last visit.
You are also being remembered during the month of All Souls in our Parish and our Catholic High School, along with the over 200 victims and heroes from Staten Island that we lost on that most horrible day.
May the Good Lord take care of you in Heaven and look over your beautiful family here on Earth.

Mr. Corrigan,
I roomed with your son Sean at Siena. My wife, Melissa, and I were friends with both Sean and Colleen at Siena also, we still keep in touch regularly. I met you briefly at their wedding. I didn't get a chance to talk to you much at the wedding because you were surrounded by so many people who loved your company. You were all smiles and laughs that night, while you made others smile as well.
I feel deeply honored to have met a hero.
I want you to know that your heroic and courageous actions on the darkest day will never be forgotten. You and your entire family are always in our prayers.
God bless you and your whole family.

Mr. Corrigan,
Your oldest son -- my best friend, my brother -- Brendan, will be married this Saturday. Fortunately for everyone, you had the pleasure of getting to know his lovely bride-to-be, Jennifer, before we lost you. So, although you cannot be here with them physically, you have seen Brendan's future, and you know, as we all do, that indeed it is very bright.
Also luckily, Jen had the honor of having known you -- as true a hero as world history has ever known. Thus, she, along w/ Brendan, will be able to bestow the values of your fine example upon your grandchildren someday. And so the tradition of American greatness shall continue . . . Rest in Peace!

I work with James' daughter in law Colleen. I lost my kid brother (another Irish James) on that day. My brother Jimmy had just finished college and worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. God Bless and be well.

Jim,
I visited the University of Notre Dame last weekend and attended the 2nd annual Blue Mass, a tradition started last October 11th. It pays homage to those Blue Collar Emergency Workers who serve our communities on a daily basis, and often sacrifice their lives for the protection of others.
I paid several visits to the Grotto of Our Blessed Mother and said a prayer and lit a candle for you each time.
May you and all the other heroes and victims of 911 be in God's Hands and may He look over and protect your families on Earth.
God Bless You!

I attended the 8th Memorial Mass for Capt. John Drennan yesterday. It was a moving and beautiful tribute to another fallen Hero.
At the cemetary after the Mass, the FDNY Chaplin had Firefighters, family and friends say a name of other Hero Firefighter's who gave their life saving others.
Jim, I took the liberty and felt the honor, privledge, and special feeling in my heart of saying "James Corrigan". The Firefighters that looked in my direction and nodded with approval and comraderie brought a warm feeling to my heart.
Old friends of yours, like Eddie Thompson and Nick Troinello, hold you in the highest regard. You guys were truly a "Band of Brothers".
I will remember you as I march on Memorial Day with the US Marines and have dedicated that day to all the victims of 9/11 with a special place in my heart for you.
I will never, ever forget you and all you meant to me and did for me.

Dear Corrigan Family,
Even though I never met Officer Corrigan, I feel sad not only for the Corrigans, but for every other family who lost a loved one, too.
Our 4th grade class is doing a project about the firefighters or officers who lost their lives and I was assigned, Officer Corrigan. He loved to smell the flowers and mostly roses. He rushed in to save others with out thinking about his own safety. I learned that becoming a hero is a big risk. His goodness will be missed.

We thank James for the devotion of helping others as a firefighter. Such a devotion comes with a brave, warm and caring heart. May James's courage, life and love (along with the gift of giving roses) continue living in those who love him and in those who have been touched by his life. May you find comfort in golden memories of times shared with James. We are deeply sorry for our nation's loss of James. Our hearts cry with you in America's loss of a hero.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

My daughter has a Mercy Band with Capt. Corrigan's name, and has cried many tears for him and all of the others lost so tragically. Her husband, too, is a firefighter, and our prayers are with him and all of the other heroes who risk their lives daily for so many others, all over our country. May God bless and keep you always. Thank you for so much.

Friends will be there I have loved long ago,
Joy like a river around me will flow;
Yet, just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will through the ages be glory for me.
