My first ever business trip from Lloyds of London was to NYC in 1998. My first ever meeting abroad was in the WTC with Aon and specifically Martha and her team as I led a large cargo account to AON. Of the 8 people I met that day I believe 6 of them passed on 9/11 - I´ll always remember them and the hospitality they showed me. I´ve just watched a documentary 20 years later and realised how often I think of that day. You´re remembered is all I can say

In class this week we had to look up a person who died on 9/11, I randomly selected Martha, although I didn't know her personally, I have learned much about her. I haven't heard one bad thing about her. I couldn't have chosen a better and more kind, caring, and loving person to have researched. Thank you Martha, you will not be forgotten.

I didn't know Martha. I took a photo at the 9/11 memorial and her name was among those in my photos. I decided to look up some names today and she was the first. It has brought me to tears reading about someone having such a positive impact on so many others. God Bless. Never Forgotten.

I knew Martha back in the 80's when I was working with Leslie and Godwin (Marine)in London, which became part of Frank B Hall and then of course Aon. I only just learned of her tragic death in 9/11 and am deeply saddened and shocked. She was always a highly intelligent and motivated Lady, with a good sense of humour. God Bless your Soul, Martha.

Martha was my boss, my mentor and my friend. She was an intelligent and sophisticated lady! Even though she was always on a "diet", we always shared desserts(half for her and half for me). I remember the day before 9/11, I came back to my desk after lunch and there were a few cookies waiting for me. She also baked the tastiest rugulachs and butter cookies I've ever had! I am honored to have known and shared this side of her. I miss her dearly and think of her often. I also have her to thank for my start in this business. She believed in me at a time when I didn't believe in myself. Even though we lost her six years ago, she continues to inspire me and I aspire to accomplish what she had in our Industry.
I love you Martha and I will never forget you. May you rest in peace!

As a client of Aon, I knew Martha for several years. I went to the theater with Martha just a few weeks before 9/11. Her loss reminds us of how brief and fragile life can be.

I was Martha Stevens, secretary for over seven years...she hired me back when Aon was Frank B. Hall...Martha, was the kindest, down right honest person I ever worked for...when I could not get thru certain projects, Martha would sit at my computer and help me complete it...Martha will be with me forever...The last time I saw Martha was on August 31,2001...My mom had died on that day, so therefore I was not in on 9/11...she sent me a beautiful sympathy card on 9/7, which I had framed..it is a picture of five leaves blowing in the wind...I love you Martha...

I had to do a project in school to honor one person that had died on 9-11. I did not know Martha but we shared the same name so I picked her. After reading all the entries I dont think I could have picked a better person. Even though I never knew her, I will always remember her and think of her forever.

Martha was my mother's second cousin. I remember my mother always refering to her as Marti. I can remember visiting Marti's parents on summer trips to the mountains, seeing family pictures on the walls of their home. I moved to NYC in July 2001. On 9/11 I watched in shock as the second plane hit the tower. Tears rolled down my cheeks as the first tower collapsed. It wasn't until days later that I found out Marti worked there. I was touched first hand by this attack. I am touched again reading the entries here. She was loved and admired ...

I never knew her as Martha - just Marti. We were classmates at Mt. St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, and during our senior year (1967-68), we worked together on a college literary publication, Westwords. Marti was the art editor, and I was the editor. She was incredibly creative in her illustrations of the entries in our anthologies and captured the essence of each poem. She was fun, open, and so very easy to connect with. We had some great times. I was reading our alumnae magazine several months ago when I learned that Marti was a victim of the WTC disaster. I was stunned. I looked back at our annual and saw her face shining out of the pages with the words "French major" listed below. I haven't seen her since we graduated, unfortunately. I wish and wish ……
As I began flipping through the pages of the "Westwords" magazine, I first turned to this poem. I wish I had the technical capability to show her illustration. It very much resembles the Twin Towers; however at the time of the writing, the towers weren’t even built. This poem touched my heart. It was written by a fellow classmate, Linda Caggiano ('68).
As Icarus
We hung ballooned between
The glass and wire-fragile pair of wings.
And that sprawling splat of concrete and
Bumper to bumper people
Spread under --
Valleyed between animal humped and haired ridges
And the lace-edged sea
Lit over by the blue and forever
Endless worst of all wind tunnels
That was calmed now by the yellow grip
Of sun that eyed its way over the world
And into our cocoon
Making it impossible to hide.
And since then this city is forever flatly dulled
And smaller than before --
We escaped the shattered plunge, the fall of life
From that bright globe, that dome,
But perhaps we still flew too near the sun.
I will be thinking of Marti and her family for a very long time. Thank you for providing the Guest Book.

I did not know you or anyone else who passed away last September 11, 2001. I am really sorry that so many people where killed and I just can not understand the kind of hate and pure evil that would do something like this. May God Bless the family and friends that where left behind and must go one without their loved one.

I never knew Martha, but I am moved by all that I've just learned by reading these beautiful entries. She sounds so much like exactly what I want to be. I am a business major at the University of New Mexico and every single day I proudly wear the mercy band bearing the name Martha Stevens. If anyone in her family or any of her immediate friends happen to read this, I would love to get in touch. Please feel free to e-mail. This bracelet was a loving gift from a very special person in my life and I feel that everything happens for a reason. Her name was on it because we are linked in some way. I would love to learn more about her. May this woman and all of the other victims rest in peace and may the survivors and the loved ones of the victims somehow find peace within themselves.

When 911 struck, I immediately thought of Martha, whom I originally met when I was a cargo underwriter with MOAC. Martha's offices at FBHall were literally across the street. MOAC had a tiny book of business with Martha and her staff. She and I became fast friends, rapidly building a sizable volume of very profitable biz together.
Why detail all of this? It's just one way of saying that I saw something in Martha that few people took the time to explore - a very wry sense of humor, the willingness to be flexible, and a shared love of old Triumph motorcars (although she actually owned a TR4 and I just lusted after them).
I bumped into Martha occasionally thereafter, not as often as I would have liked, but regardless of the time elapsed, she always broke into a sly, slightly sideways grin and a "Well hello there!" greeting.
Martha - sorely missed, fondly thought of, soaring gently.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I am so saddened by what happened on September 11, and mostly for old friends who did nothing but go about their normal day. When I first heard of what happened I immediately thought of Martha, because we often rode the subway together downtown and I knew she was always in the office early, so I knew she was there. I have such wonderful memories of her, her sense on humor, her honor and mostly the way she dealt with people. I will think of her often. My heart goes out to her family, and mostly to George.
