Nina Bell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2001.
Air Force Child

Nina Bell was every inch a fighter pilot's daughter — slender, athletic and looking even taller than her 5 feet, 8 inches. Born in the Netherlands, the first stop in a nomadic Air Force childhood, she grew up confident, smart, "the It girl," as a friend once put it. A bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder led her to become a manager of information systems and, most recently, into project management.

But to her friends and family, there was also the side that was not all business. Ms. Bell's notebook had a bumper sticker that read, "Mean People Suck." With her brother, Lowell Bell, 40, she kept up a private banter, sometimes based on the dim Canadian duo, the Mackenzie brothers, from the 1970's television show, "Second City TV." "Hey, hoser," she would call him.

This September, Ms. Bell, 39, had settled in Manhattan, in a new apartment on the Upper East Side and in a new job as a project manager with Marsh & McLennan. In an e-mail message to her friend Lorraine Davis on Monday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m., Ms. Bell wrote, "I am so very happy."

September 11, 2024

I'm remembering my friend and colleague Nina Patrice Bell today, on this day of remembrance of the 23rd anniversary of that tragic history changing day in 2001.

Nina, I remember you always, especially on this solemn day of rememberance every year. I hear your name being read during the "'reading of names" ceremony about the same time every year, 9:00am/6:00am (est/pst) I continue to see signs from you, your little "Hello's From Heaven". This continues to affirm my spiritual beliefs, and confirms for me that we are all connected in this life and beyond.

My spiritual path and beliefs continues to grow and strengthen because of you. I am forever grateful for that.

My love and prayers go out to all of your family and friends who are remembering and missing you today.

#AlwaysRemember
#NeverForget

I'll end this with your mantra.

Love!Laugh!Play!

R.I.P. dear friend, until we meet again!

As always I'm remembering my friend and colleague, Nina Patrice Bell on this day of rememberance on the 22nd anniversary of that horrible day in 2001.

Nina, I remember you always, but especially on this solemn day every year. I heard them read your name at 9:00am/6:00am (EST/PST) this morning on the annual rememberance ceremony. I continue to thank you for the signs I continue to see from you, your "Hello's From Heaven", which confirms for me that we are all connected, the "Tapestry Of Life" as I always say.

My spiritual path and beliefs continues to grow and strengthen because of you, and I am forever grateful for that.

My love and prayers go out to all of your family and friends who are remembering and missing you today.

I'll end this with your mantra.

Love!Laugh!Play!

Nina, as always I'm remembering you today on this 21st anniversary of that day in 2001. You are in my heart forever and I remember you always, but especially on this solemn day every year. I heard them read your name at 9:04am/6:04am (EST/PST) this morning on the annual rememberance ceremony. I continue to thank you for the signs I continue to see of your "Hello's From Heaven" and "Tapestry Of Life" which is the essence that we are all, and always are, forever connected.

As I've said before, my spiritual growth continues in large part because of you, and I thank you for that and am forever grateful.

My love and prayers go out to all of your family and friends who are remembering and missing you today.

I'll end this with your mantra.

Nina, I'm remembering you on this poignant day of remembrance of that horrific day 20 years ago. As always I watched your name being read at the reading of names ceremony, yours came in at 6:02am/9:02am this morning. I am in San Francisco this year. Nina, I remember you always, and especially on this day every year, you are forever etched into my heart and soul. I see and feel the signs I constantly receive from you, your "Hello's from Heaven", and always appreciate and acknowledge them. I am forever grateful for my friendship with Fernanda Forman that I know you had a hand in. Both Fernanda and I recount that story of, what can only be called "Devine Intervention" of our meeting and continually tell anyone and everyone we know and meet about it, it truly is a miracle, or as I always say "The Tapestry Of Life". We love you always and are sending love and prayers to your family and friends today.
Love, Danny

I didn't know Nina, but while watching the 20th anniversary memorial ceremony this morning, her picture came up. She looked so vibrant and full of life I couldn't help but to shed a tear. Such a beautiful young life taken away much too early. God bless the family and may your soul rest in peace through all eternity.

As I have said before this ideal has become my spirituality and my believe in God. I thank you for my growth in that. I'm thinking of your family and all who love you and sending my love to you and them. We will always remember to #NEVERFORGET.

While Show on Sunday morning, there was a segment on a new 'Sports' section of the Memorial Museum. As the cam era panned the donated items, I saw a letter form a Letterman's jacket - "M" with a fleetfooted pin and I know this belongs to you. Great memories came flooding back to our High School days running Track and playing Volleyball at Mitchell. Love and miss you Nina - Always

Remembering you tonight and tomorrow Nina. The fun times in Duluth, Minn., sliding down the hill on our snow-saucers and playing with your brother Lowell Jr..... R.I.P. and know that you're not forgotten. Nina's father, Lowell Bell, flew with my father in the 11th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in 1966-68, and all us kids were friends and we all went to school together, and gathered on the flightline to watch our dad's take off and land their F-106s. Her dad dressed as Santa Claus one Christmas and taxi'd up to us all and climbed out of a F-106 with a big bag of toys and climbed down the ladder and handed them all to us. I will post your story every year till I join you and my parents in the great Officer's Club in the sky Nina. Rest in peace.

Hi Nina, I'm thinking of you and all of your family and friends as always on this 12th anniversary. I'm in San Francisco this year and did hear your name read at 8:59AM (EST). I remember you always, and you'll be forever in my heart. Love, Danny

It's been 10 years now, but your spirit and contribution to folks lives remain strong. My brother Marc and I played together with you and your brother as kids in Duluth, Minnesota in 1966-68 when your father and mine flew F-106s together in the 11th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. I lost both of my parents in 2009 and I think of them and your father a lot as I've scanned my dads color slides onto the computer. Have pics of your dad when he was dressed as Santa Clause at a Christmas party. Bless our veterans and the U.S.A.

Hi Nina,
It’s the 10th anniversary of that horrible day. As always I’m thinking of you on this day. I’m again in San Francisco this year and I was up watching them read the names this morning, yours was read at exactly 9:00am (EST), I lit a candle and sent you a prayer. This anniversary is a landmark, not only because it’s been a decade but they are also opening the memorial at ground zero (for families today, then the public tomorrow). I’m thinking of your family and sending them my prayers. They aired a show on the discovery channel last week and showed a few of the bronze panels that will surround the memorial pools of all the victim’s names, and your name was one that they aired. I felt a chill in my body when I was watching. You are always in my heart and I will never forget you Nina. Love, Danny
