Linda Lee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2001.
Everyone's Best Friend
Linda Lee knew how to make a friend feel special. She knew just how to make you feel like you were the most important person to her.

"She listened with her fullest attention," said Tiffany Norwood, her friend since kindergarten. "She wanted to know exactly what was going on in your life."

Ms. Lee, 34, was a senior associate at Jennison Associates, a financial services firm. On Sept. 11, she was attending a technology conference at the trade center.

Ms. Lee had a love of adventure, Ms. Norwood said. In high school, the two girls would sneak off from their homes in Camp Springs, Md., to New York for the weekend. As young women, they would sweet talk New York cabbies into letting them drive the taxi. "She had an amazing ability to make and nurture friendships," said Stacey Harris, another close friend. "She made you feel like you were her only friend."

08 October 2002:

I just found out about this Web Site and discovered with horror the fate that met Linda.

I met Linda on a consulting assignment at Morgan Stanley. She had a good heart and she was very giving. Working with her was challenging. I found her to be very bright, patient, tolerant and understanding. I was at Morgan Stanley when she left the firm to further her career. I am stunned and so very saddened by this. Why God took such a wonderful person from us is something I will never understand. This is terrible news for me and I extend my sincere and deepest sympathy to her family and loved ones.

A very generous gift of memory trees were donated by a nursery where we live. They were each donated in memory of those who lost their lives in the horrible attack on America. A wonderful mother of one of the children in my sons school had enough forthought to go to this nursery and get enough trees for every child in the class room. My son Kyle who is 8 and in the 3rd grade received a tree with Linda Lee's name attached. He wanted to know if I could find out more about her. I have read all of the stories that I could find about her to him. He said she is very pretty. She is a wonderful loving and giving person and I am sure she will be missed by many family and friends. We have planted this tree in our yard in memory of Linda and in memory of everyone who lost their lives. My son wanted his picture taken while he planted the tree and asked if we could take his picture with it every year on September 11th. He will never forget. We will never forget.

It's hard to believe a year has past since Linda has been gone. I don't know if it even feels real to write those words. But the void that we feel in our lives by her absence is definitely real. The good times and adventures that Linda was always willing to try and the conversations that let you know she would always be there for you.

I can say that her memory lives on through the strength of her family and friends which I am proud to be a part of. I only hope the strength that we show can live up to a fraction of the strength that Linda showed throughout her life.

We miss her tremendously, but know that she we always be with us.

Linda was an exceptional person with a generosity of spirit that was beyond words. I was always in awe of the way she approached life. She was excited to be alive and be in New York City and see and do and just experience. I think we ate in every restaurant in the East Village.

Linda saw the beauty and joy in things that most people would never notice. And when you were around her, you couldn’t help but see what she saw. And she always saw the good in people, unless of course, those people insulted her friends.

I think about and miss Linda every day. I will never forget her.

How fortunate we all were to know her for the short time that we did.

I never met Linda C. Lee. And I am very sorry that I didn't. Linda lives on in the memory of her many friends. I have heard stories of her life, her energy, her generosity and her kindness. The Talmud teaches that one who saves a life, saves a world whole and one who takes a life destroys an entire world. About no one is this thought more appropriate. For the loss of Linda to many was the loss of their whole world. A world they now struggle to rebuild. May the merciful God of all of us comfort us this day and all days and make Linda's life an example for us all.

Linda must have been a truly extraordinary woman, not only witneseed by the testamony that is written on the pages but by the generousity of her many colleagues and friends at Jennison. They recently contributed over $250,000 to establish a lasting tribute in her name for deserving students at the University of Maryland. A selfless act by so many to memorialize a good friend and colleague. It speaks volumns about this very special young lady.

An amazing ability to make friends. What a wonderful testamony to Linda's heart. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Linda. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

I met Linda at the Risk-Waters conference on Monday, September 10th. I sat next to her and we spoke several times during the day.

I was a relative newcomer to trading technology and she was friendly and helpful to me.

She suggested other conferences which might be of use to me in the same field and we spoke a few times between the presentations.

She struck me as a warm giving person, yet professional and self- assured. I am saddened to learn of her passing and want to extend my condolences to her parents, family and friends. I tried to find out about her in the aftermath of the attack, but her company would not release any information. It is only now, in looking at this website that I have learned that she is gone.

I met her only briefly but she made an impression on me and I share a small sense of your loss.

Feel free to email me if I can be of any help.

Sincerely,

Kevin Kelleher
