Elaine Cillo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 17, 2001.
Photographs to Remember
Elaine Cillo loved to take pictures. Her two-bedroom apartment in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, might as well be a photo gallery, with pictures even crowding the walls in the bathroom. There are photographs of the Brooklyn and Verrazano- Narrows Bridges, of apples in a basket, of autumn leaves in upstate New York. She has a beautiful shot of the Eiffel Tower.

Elaine's twin sister, Lynne Cillo-Capaldo, was looking at the photos on Saturday with her husband, Paul Capaldo. Elaine, 40, a vice president at Marsh Technology and Information Service, worked on the 97th floor of the north tower.

Over the summer, the sisters and Paul vacationed in Greece. Lynne said her husband got a great picture of Elaine: It showed the camera buff taking a photo.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Dearest Elaine,

My heart broke today when I read your name, and confirmed it was you when they mentioned your twin sister Lynne. May God bless you and may you find eternal peace with Him. It had been more than ten years since we last saw each other, but I often think of you and the good times we had at Brown Bros.We were always able to make each other smile and laugh every day.And though you were my boss you never acted like some bosses do!!I was most proud to see you had made V.P.-There was never any doubt!! I will always remember your kind, genuine spirit; your laugh; and those sparkling eyes. May your spirit soar with the angels, and may your family find comfort in knowing that you enhanced every life you touched during the short time that you were here. I love you and I will NEVER forget you. GOD BLESS YOU - MAY YOU FIND ETERNAL COMFORT IN HIS LIGHT.

Sincerely,

Michelle DeFreitas

Elaine...

I had the fortune of being with you for a short time on the beach, the Sunday before the tragedy. You were your usual happy self. You said you hoped Leslie would have the traditional Christmas party this year. It would be great to see everyone.

I'm glad we had a chance to have that last chat...

You and your loved ones are always in my prayers...

We are very sorry for your loss of Elaine. May her abilities to take photos, her life and love live on in you. Our hearts cry with you in your loss of Elaine.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Dear Elaine, Of course all of us remember you most for your pictures. Only you could pose everyone and have us all laughing while doing it. I can remember how you never liked Lynne's boyfriends but you certainly found her a gem in Paul. Always taking care of your sister. Paul doesn't know how lucky he is that you were nice to him. I will always remember you as a fun loving friend you always made us laugh whether it was the crazy names you had for us or just the funny lines you always came up with. I'm sure you are with your mom and all of our loved ones in heaven. You will be truly missed and you must send your dad and Lynne strength from God because they truly miss you. And before I say good bye I must add the time when you thought my Dad's name was Andy. We all miss you and will always keep you in our hearts. Love Rio
